So what's the consensus here on Software 'Piracy'?
If you're at all interested in software or gaming you've probably heard the news surrounding Sony recently. For the uninitiated Sony announced moving away from physical discs for their gaming consoles, ever since the community has been on the attack. They've managed to jailbreak the PS5 to unlock features like full backwards compatibility, the ability to install unsupported software and even bring about a full store front that offers most of the PSN store for free. They've also leveraged AI to recompile games as native to platforms they were previously locked out of, and are working on a full emulation for the PS5 on PC. In other news someone has managed to rebuild the entirety of Adobe's creative suite making it Free and open source, they've also started work on Microsoft Office.
Now I personally love this, however at the same time I recognise that there is the potential that it could discourage the creation of good games and software going forward. My question to this community who do not believe that IP should be protected, how would you avoid the highly likely possibility that creators would be unable to make a profit from their work because it gets 'pirated'?
