Context: I am running Alpine Linux v3.14.3 on iSH on iOS.
I am trying to run a command line program that works on all of my other linux devices. I tracked down the issue: the program works on my other devices because they are running python 3.12. But when I installed python3 on this Alpine shell, I got python 3.9.
My latest attempt to upgrade:
apk-add python3.12
ERROR: unable to select packages:
python 3.12 (no such package):
required by: world[python3.12]
I found out that I need to add the community repositories. This is where I get stuck.
# This file contains pinned repositories managed by iSH. If the /ish directory exists, iSH uses the metadata stored in it to keep this file up to date (by overwriting the contents on boot.)
http://apk.ish.app/v3.14-2023-05-19/main
http://apk.ish.app/v3.14-2023-05-19/community
This looks quite different (understandably, since I'm running iSH and not on an actual computer) from what I'm finding when I search.
Here: https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/alpine-linux-etc-apk-repositories-repositories-file/
and here: https://krython.com/post/adding-alpine-linux-community-repository
For example.
Do I just add the lines they suggest to the file? Do I do something else?
I would ask iSH folks but the subreddit is dead and the blog hasn't been updated in years.
