The mod team is small right now, and I am handling most of the day-to-day moderation. I know a few people have mentioned that the subreddit has changed, and I just want to explain why things feel different.
The Advanced Astrology subreddit is one of my favorite subreddits. I loved reading about the different approaches to astrology, everything from Hellenistic, Vedic, modern, horary, astrocartography, electional, and everything else in between. There are a lot of really great contributors in the subreddit.
For the past few months, I’ve been getting pushback from quite a few people. Some say that I’m too loose, while others say I’m too strict in regards to the rules. Finding consistency while also respecting how I was asked to moderate hasn’t been easy.
I have been trying my best to make decisions based on precedent or things that were told to me by the owner of Advanced Astrology. For instance, when it comes to links and promotion, the spam rule, in my opinion, is written loosely. However, I’ve been instructed to not include links to my own blog.
In regards to software, this has been the biggest thorn in my side. Due to the advancements of AI, there are many new astrological apps and software being submitted to Advanced Astrology, either through mod mail or as standalone posts. Traditionally, posts from Astro-Seek and a few other standardized software have been approved.
In the beginning, I had let some of this new AI-coded software be posted on Advanced Astrology. Much of the work was done by non-astrologers, and the community here pointed out the flaws in these programs. There has also been much discussion about the use of AI. I wish I had time to vet every single software out there, but I just don’t have the time.
Currently, most basic questions are removed, as well as low-effort posts. Basic chart questions are better suited for subreddits like r/astrology or r/BeginnersAstrology, so those posts will be redirected there. Occasionally, there have been some that, even though they may be considered low effort or basic, could in my opinion lead to some great conversation. I would really like to know everyone’s opinion on that. Like I said, some people think that I’m too strict and others think I’m way too loose.
In regards to my hopes for this subreddit, I honestly want it to be a reflection of what astrology students and astrologers want from a subreddit. As someone who contributes, I do think of myself as a contributor first and a moderator second.
That’s why your input matters so much to me. What do you like about this subreddit? What don’t you like? What would you like to see changed? I want to open up this discussion to everyone.
Please keep comments focused on the subreddit and what you’d like to see, and keep it respectful. Play nice. I’d like to keep this up for about a week as I take in all of your suggestions and comments on how to move forward with this task.
New month, new free-talk world politics thread.
Same rules apply as always.
Any general discussion on these topics belongs here. Standalone posts will only remain up if they bring genuine substance, such as detailed chart breakdowns, significant transits, or well-researched predictions.
Posts like “What’s Trump's Gemini doing?” or “Trump’s Regulus is at it again” will be removed. Repeat offenders risk a 100-day ban.
Also, extreme political stances will not be tolerated, nor will the harassment of our mods. Both will result in a permanent ban.
Let’s keep the conversation focused, thoughtful, kind, and aligned with the spirit of the sub.

Edit: Asking general questions about world events is allowed as long as you include viable chart information. For instance, if an event occurred in a particular country, please include the city/town or capital, the date, and the time (with time zone, if known). Link news articles or other pertinent information. Keep in mind, most of those who discuss mundane events through an astrological lens are also working or have other projects, and will not be motivated to answer a vague question with no leg work.
I've been looking into William Lilly's Christian Astrology, published in 1647, and it's interesting to compare how astrology was practiced during his lifetime with how it's commonly presented today.
Lilly practiced during the Scientific Revolution, when astrology, astronomy, mathematics, and natural philosophy were much more closely connected than they are now. What stands out to me is how structured his approach was, particularly in horary astrology. He used techniques involving planetary dignities, significators, aspects, receptions, and other established rules to interpret charts and attempt to answer specific questions.
Compare that with much of the astrology we encounter today, particularly the emphasis on sun signs, personality traits, and psychological interpretations. Of course, traditional techniques are still practiced, but it makes me wonder how much the discipline itself has changed versus how it's presented to the general public.
I'm particularly curious about two things:
For those who study traditional astrology, what important techniques or principles from Lilly's era do you think have been lost, simplified, or misunderstood in modern practice?
Do you think astrology's shift toward more psychological and personality-based interpretations contributed to how society views its legitimacy today, or was that primarily a result of changing scientific standards?
I'm interested in hearing from people who have studied both traditional and modern approaches. Has astrology actually changed as a discipline, or have we simply changed what we expect astrology to tell us?
I’m curious to see if there’s any consensus from a traditional perspective on the relevance of a possible aspect in a natal chart.
Jupiter is at Aries 27deg 24’ in 12H
Ascendant is at Taurus 5deg 59’ in 1H
If using the traditional moiety orb calculation with Jupiter’s moiety of 12deg (most liberal) and the ascendant’s generally used moiety of 5deg, it would give a max orb of 8deg 30’ , but the aspect’s orb is technically over this value at 8deg 35’
Would this suffice to say that this aspect shouldn’t be considered to be very significant in this natal chart? Or are there any exceptions in traditional considerations since conjunctions to the ascendant are very strong?
I’m an astrology student and working on an experimental astrology study about actors who are especially known for a particular kind of role or recurring screen theme.
I'll start by identifying actors whose work is associated with a distinctive theme - for example, tragic or psychologically complex characters. Then I'll study their natal charts and look for prominent themes that may symbolically correspond with that aspect of their work.
I'll also look for possible biographical parallels: whether those natal themes appear in the actor’s documented life, and whether the actor has spoken about how particular roles affected them personally or why they chose to take them on. I’ll rely on interviews and trustworthy biographical sources wherever possible.
This is an exploratory study, not a statistical test or an attempt to prove anything. As a student, I know I need to study as many charts as I can. I’ve been interested for a while in looking at actors’ and artists' charts from this perspective, and I wanted to make my studies more enjoyable for myself - that’s all. If I’m happy with the results, I may share them on a new blog I’m hoping to start.
Which actors might be interesting to research, and what role themes or sources would you recommend? I’m looking for actors with a reliable birth time and enough credible interviews or biographical material to explore both their work and life.
I’m also open to any other ideas or suggestions that might be interesting for this topic. And if you know of any similar studies, I’d love to check them out! :)
For a long time I've come across alot of articles, celebrity news and just an overall theme of something called the "27 club" which basically refers to people passing at the age of 27. One famous example would be Amy winehouse.
27 seems like a very very pivotal age but not yet the saturn return. I myself have been very deep in the trenches since I turned 25 and there's a stark before and after to my life since then. 27 was also rough on my physical health and mental health but yet better than 25/26. And I just turned 28. My saturn return is still on it way I'm assuming
But what's the insight to the 27 age club? Is there any astrological significance universally? Just curious.
Hi Astrologers! I've been following the MLB playoffs, and for my own practice as an aspiring astrology student am looking for guidance in interpreting electionals. Electional astrology is new for me so I can't imagine I'm doing this right. but I guess that's why I'm here to learn and ask for help.
Electional event interpretation
The chart above is for ALCS game 4 tonight at 8pm EST in Cleveland.
The home team would be the Cleveland Guardians, and the away team the Tampa Bay Rays, so my initial interpretation was to assign the Rays 9th house, and Guardians 3rd? Being said the 3H significator sits in its detriment in the Rays house, Capricorn. It's next aspect is to square the sun in its fall in 6H Libra. If the Rays are the 9H, Saturn the 9H significator sits rx in its fall in 12H Aries which is uncomfortable. Saturn also does not have any upcoming aspects. Not sure what to make of Pluto tightly on the MC but feels like something.
Surely it's a lot more complicated than this, and I'd imagine requires looking at an inception chart with transits for each team... which brings my next question:
2. How to decide an inception day?
I want to create an event chart for MLB teams but cant figure out what qualifies for the inception day. Would it be the franchise's first major league game? When the team was first established? The team's most recent name change? The Guardians for instance:
April 22, 1896: Franchise's first official minor league game
April 24, 1901 (around 3pm) Franchise's first official major league game
November 19, 2021: name change from Cleveland Indians to Cleveland Guardians
I'm super curious to explore this further so any leads I can get just for my own research and learning process would mean a lot. Thanks a bunch :)
It uses topocentric primary directions, in order to survey time and see which birthtime perfectly syncs up with the events of the life...
Let's take Marlene Dietrich, since she has an AA-rated birthtime (9:15 PM), that is actually virtually spot-on!
So, we enter her birthdata and a list of events...
Since we have an AA-rated time (and I already know its veracity), we will do a 20 minute search around this AA-rated time.
After not too much time, it comes back with the following...
This is an extremely strong corroboration that the AA-rated birthtime is correct. (Well, within a second, that is...) ;)
Using this time, the events of her life LINE-UP, not just in topocentric primary directions, as shown above for the rectification, but in other systems as well...
I’m not at all an in depth astrologer or one at all but I know a variety of superficial stuff (Jupiter in Gemini) and was wondering if anybody has used this website/software before?
It seems to be using primary directions and some other stuff to determine a list of potential time of births in order to rectify a birth chart. It looks like you can customize the planets/significators as well but again, i’m assuming it expects you to know what you’re doing.
I don’t have a recorded time of birth so I can’t prove anything but it would be cool to see what you guys get if you do have your time of birth and if it shows up! It will ask you for some events and I’m guessing the more the better lol.
I've been following a few stories in the news that got me thinking about the current Venus retrograde, particularly the October 10 Venus-Mars square. I started comparing the event dates with natal charts where birth information was available and found some interesting connections I wanted to share!
Venus stationed retrograde on October 3 at 8°29′ Scorpio, where it's in detriment.
Its dispositor, Mars, was in Leo, answering to the Sun in Libra, which is in fall and ruled by Venus. This creates a dispositor loop between Venus, Mars, and the Sun.
Mars also opposed Pluto at 3° Aquarius on October 3, approximately three and a half hours after Venus stationed.
Mercury then conjoined Venus Rx at 8° Scorpio on October 6, followed by the Venus-Mars square at 7°21′ on October 10, exact at approximately 4:22 PM Central.
Earlier that day, the New Moon occurred at 17°22′ Libra, making retrograde Venus the ruler of the lunation.
For this comparison, I'm using tropical astrology with traditional rulerships and Whole Sign houses where birth times are available. The celebrity examples involve natal transits on the documented event dates.
October 10: Kelly Clarkson and the $15,000 mechanical bird
On October 10, Kelly Clarkson publicly described an unpleasant experience at a Brooklyn store called Art of Play involving a $15,000 mechanical singing bird. Clarkson said she felt the employees had judged whether she could afford the item, while the store disputed her account and explained that the displayed bird wasn't available for purchase. Security footage was later released, although it contained no audio. The disagreement became mega public over the following days, with both sides continuing to defend their accounts.
Kelly Clarkson's Natal Chart
Clarkson's birth time is unknown, so I'm avoiding houses and angles.
I started looking at her natal chart because Venus rules luxury purchases and the exchange of value. Clarkson has a natal Sun around 4° Taurus opposite Jupiter Rx at 5° Scorpio, with an approximate orb of 1°24′. On October 10, transiting Venus Rx at 7° Scorpio was applying to conjunct her natal Jupiter while moving toward an opposition with her Sun.
There's also Pluto stationing direct at 3° Aquarius on October 15, squaring both her natal Sun and Jupiter and forming a fixed T-square with that opposition. Meanwhile, the October 10 New Moon at 17° Libra was conjunct her natal Saturn Rx at 17° Libra within just 0°22′! Saturn is exalted in Libra, and here we have a lunation ruled by Venus Rx falling on that natal placement.
The New Moon's close conjunction to her natal Saturn in Libra brings questions of fairness and treatment into the situation, reflecting Clarkson's experience with the store employees. Venus Rx was activating her natal Sun-Jupiter opposition while the disagreement centered on the price of a luxury object and assumptions about her ability to afford it. Stationary Pluto squaring that opposition coincided with the dispute gaining public attention as both Clarkson and the store defended their accounts of what happened.
October 10: Tobey Maguire officiates his ex-wife's wedding
This story happened on the same day, but the natal connections are super different! On October 10, Tobey Maguire officiated the wedding of his ex-wife, jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, to Geoffrey Ogunlesi. Maguire and Meyer separated in 2016, although their divorce wasn't finalized until September 21, 2026. So, after a decade of separation, their marriage legally ended shortly before Venus stationed retrograde, and Maguire went on to perform the ceremony for Meyer's new marriage.
Tobey Maguire's natal chart
Maguire has a documented birth time with a Rodden AA rating, giving him a Leo Ascendant at 7°. On October 10, transiting Mars reached 7° Leo, crossing his natal Ascendant while Venus Rx at 7° Scorpio squared it. When the Venus-Mars square perfected at 7°21′, both planets were within approximately 0°01′ of an exact aspect to his Ascendant!
Using Whole Sign houses, Mars was transiting his 1st house and Venus Rx his 4th, bringing his personal involvement and family relationships into the configuration. Mars also rules his Scorpio 4th house of family and Aries 9th house, associated with legal matters and ceremonies.
His 7th house of marriage is Aquarius, ruled traditionally by Saturn, which was retrograde in Aries in his 9th house. Saturn was also in fall, and Mars was applying to trine Saturn, with the aspect perfecting on October 16. Maguire was participating in a marriage ceremony involving his former wife, shortly after their own marriage legally ended.
Meanwhile, Jupiter at approximately 21° Leo was conjunct his natal Venus at 20° Leo and opposing his natal Moon at 20° Aquarius, activating his natal Venus-Moon opposition across the 1st and 7th houses. The October 10 New Moon at 17° Libra also fell in his 3rd house, trining his natal Mercury at 16° Gemini in the 11th, with an orb of just 1°22′! Mercury is in domicile in Gemini and rules his 11th house of friendships and social connections. The New Moon's trine to natal Mercury was separating, while the lunation itself was ruled by Venus Rx in his 4th house.
September 8 to October 9: Two stolen Renoir paintings recovered
On September 8, two valuable Renoir paintings were stolen from a museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France. The thieves initially took four paintings but abandoned two while escaping. The remaining artworks were Portrait of Madame Colonna Romano and Young Woman at the Well.
On October 9, authorities announced that both paintings had been recovered and six suspects arrested. I wanted to include this story because the theft occurred during Venus's pre-retrograde shadow, while the announcement of their recovery came during the retrograde itself!
Venus entered its retrograde shadow around August 31 at 22°52′ Libra. On September 8, when the paintings were stolen, Venus was around 28°32′ Libra, still in domicile and moving forward through the degrees it would eventually revisit. By October 9, when their recovery was announced, Venus was retrograde near 7° Scorpio and applying to square Mars in Leo.
There's also a reported time for the museum alarm, which went off at 5:48 AM local time on September 8. Casting a chart for that moment in Cagnes-sur-Mer gives approximately 0° Virgo rising.
Alarm Chart
Venus at 28° Libra was in domicile in the Whole Sign 2nd house of possessions, representing the valuable paintings at the center of the theft. Mars at 17° Cancer was in fall in the 11th house, separating from a square to Saturn Rx at 13° Aries in the 8th, where Saturn is also in fall. Mars rules the 8th house and answers to the Moon at 6° Leo in the 12th, connecting the loss of property with hidden activity.
Jupiter, ruler of the 7th house of other parties, was also in the 12th, which could represent the unidentified thieves. Mercury at 25° Virgo was both in domicile and exaltation in the 1st house, ruling the Ascendant and 10th house. The strong Mercury is on point for the alarm being triggered and the police arriving just five minutes later, interrupting the theft and forcing the thieves to abandon two paintings.
Venus signifies artwork and valuable possessions, while Mars, its dispositor during the recovery announcement, was approaching the exact square the following day. The date the paintings were physically recovered hasn't been confirmed in the initial reporting, so October 9 is the announcement date instead of a verified recovery chart. I'm curious whether anything further develops around October 27-28, when Venus Rx returns to approximately 28° Libra, revisiting its position from the original theft.
A few other things I'm watching
Venus returns to Libra on October 25, where it regains domicile while remaining retrograde until November 13.
Before then, Venus squares Pluto on October 20.
The Sun conjoins Venus Rx at approximately 0°45′ Scorpio late on October 23 Central Time.
The dispositor relationship also changes when the Sun enters Scorpio on October 23, since both the Sun and Venus will then answer to Mars in Leo.
Mars answers to the Sun, creating a mutual reception by domicile between the Sun and Mars.
Has anyone else noticed current events that seem connected with this Venus retrograde? I'd love to hear about other natal activations or mundane configurations you've been following. And if there's anything I've missed in these charts, please let me know!
Trying this again! Thanks for your patience. First time posting in this sub.
I’m deeply involved with New Orleans and was there for Katrina. I have been studying astrology for several years but still think of myself as a beginner. Recently I’ve been looking at the astrological conditions of disasters and have particular interest in this one.
I had thought that Pluto played a major role here as it transited the 4H but I could be incorrect. What other elements are present that call out to you for a disaster of this magnitude? The first chart is New Orleans natal, the second chart and tables are for the storm itself.
Katrina:
Landfall time and date: August 29, 2005 @ 6:10:00 am
Buras-Triumph LA, Plaquemines Parish, US
New Orleans: Feb 17 1805 (some will put it at Feb 10 1805) and noon is given from the source as birth time.
This idea has been growing in my mind as I have begun to research more about Hellenistic astrology. Do the themes/experiences of the 12th house get alleviated or make matters worse with exalted planets/benefics in the 12th?
For example Aries Sun in the 12th, Pisces Venus in the 12th, Virgo Mercury in the 12th, Cancer Jupiter in the 12th? Especially planets that are benefic in nature like Venus and Jupiter, and also become the benefic in sect in their respective day/night charts.
I come from an initial instruction to Astrology from a modern perspective and houses like the 12th are very polarizing when traditional vs modern astrologers talk about it. Either portraying it as overly positive or overly negative, even though traditionally we know the 12th is the house of bad spirit.
So would exalted planets and even benefics in the 12th explain the ability for the native to have positive experiences in this house/be protected from the usual themes/experiences of this house. Or would the 12th house take priority and dilute the expression of the planets there regardless.
I guess in a simple way, does the 12th house take priority or does a benefic take priority.
I think a lot of people are leaving out a fundamental piece when interpreting the signs, and that is that they exist in relation to each other.
Capricorn doesn't mean what it means just because. Its significations emerge from its place within the larger order of the zodiac. Every sign occupies a particular relationship to every other sign, and these relationships tell us something about the nature, purpose, obligations, and limitations of each sign. In Vedic astrology, we can explore this by taking a sign as our point of reference and reckoning the other signs from it, just as we would derive houses from an ascendant.
For example, Libra being the 10th from Capricorn shows what Capricorn is known for, the karma it performs, and the obligations it must fulfill in the world. The 10th is the field of action, authority, achievement, and public consequence. Libra therefore describes something about how Capricorn's nature finds expression in the world through the principles of balance, justice, negotiation, and the ordering of relationships. Gemini being the 6th from Capricorn shows the conflicts, debts, labor, and obstacles Capricorn must contend with. Sagittarius being the 12th shows what brings Capricorn loss, what it must surrender, and what ultimately dissolves the structures it works to build.
In this way, the signs derive meaning continuously from one another. Each sign is simultaneously a point of origin and a field of experience when viewed from another. Its meaning is also revealed by the role it plays within the lives and affairs of the other signs. For example, Capricorn being fourth from Libra defines Capricorn in relation to Libra. Think of it in terms of math. You can define a term relative to another, and by establishing that relationship, you are able to gain information about both terms that you would not have from examining either one in isolation. This is fundamentally how the universe operates. Everything is interrelated. You can find an unknown by examining relationships between variables. To put it very simply, weight is mass multiplied by the acceleration force of gravity. If you know how mass and weight relate to each other (W = m/g; an equation logically illustrates a relationship), you can find the force of gravity (g = m/W).
If Libra represents the principle of balance, reciprocity, and the ordering of relationships, then Capricorn, as the fourth from Libra, represents the foundations upon which those principles rest. The fourth is the seat of one's inner foundations, security, and settled state. Capricorn therefore becomes the ground upon which Libra's principles must take form such as the battles, responsibilities, and enduring conditions that make balance possible. At the same time, Capricorn's own nature is illustrated by this relationship. We can understand it through its intrinsic qualities in addition to its function as the foundation of Libra.
The relationship is reciprocal in the sense that both signs participate in defining the relationship, even though the specific house reckoned from each sign will differ. Capricorn is fourth from Libra, but Libra is tenth from Capricorn. These are two different relationships that reveal two different dimensions of the same pair. From Libra, Capricorn is the foundation, but from Capricorn, Libra is the field of action, karma, and public manifestation. One establishes the ground, while the other reveals what that ground makes possible in the world.
The same logic extends throughout the zodiac. Every sign can be examined as the first house, with the remaining eleven signs revealing its resources, efforts, foundations, creative intelligence, obstacles, relationships, transformations, dharma, actions, gains, and losses. Each relationship adds another coordinate to our understanding of that sign. And because every sign is related to every other sign through a specific house relationship, the entire zodiac becomes a network of mutually enlightening principles. Signs are intelligible through their relationships and the roles they fulfill within a greater cosmic order.
I was told that in Hellenistic astrological texts some mention that if a planet in the 6th or 12th house but within 3 degrees of a sextile (12H) or trine (6H) to the MC that this would midigate some of the bad associated with these houses. I know the astrology podcast has talked about this, but can someone provide a reference to this?
Also, can someone explain what kind of midigating factors this indicates? I cannot tell if this is meant to be something that gets rid of all the bad of these houses, or it just means that the planets have more capability of producing good outcomes.
Laslty, can someone confirm if this was solely a thing mentioned by Hellenistic astrologers, or if other traditions, like Islamicate medieval astrologers for example, continued documenting this as a midigating factor to account for?
hi guys! i'd like to ask for some astrology text recommendations on lilith and/or chiron. i have do have liz greene's book on chiron, and would love to add some more titles to my ref pile. as for refs regarding lilith, the refs i've seen reconmmended seem to focus more on her history than the astrological interpretation of a lilith placement. thanks in advance!
p.s. actually, an obscure or super niche astrology book will be fun to try out. im trying to deepen my research.
Hi everyone! I wanted to post about transistors, an amazing electrical device that has completely reshaped our modern world, without many people knowing about it! I have a bachelors in electrical engineering and feel very passionate about the transistor.
This last May I did a live presentation about transistors at the Portland Astrology Meetup, and I’m currently revamping it to give another couple live talks around transistors and technology within astrology. This post is a very…very small snippet of my presentation. Please ask any questions and I will try to answer them!! Also if you notice other things please comment as well! I am still newer to astrology so I love seeing what others can find in charts. I plan on doing future posts relating to current transistor news :)
Ohms Law:
To understand the transistor, you first need to understand a basic electronics principle called Ohm’s Law. Ohm’s law is the relationship amongst Voltage, Resistance, and Amperage. Imagine a pipe flowing with water: Amperage, or current, is the water going through the pipe, Voltage is what is “pushing” the current, and resistance is the size of the pipe. Low resistance, or a large tube, means current can easily flow. High resistance means that current cannot easily flow. (Picture 2)
Vacuum Tubes:
Before transistors, we had vacuum tubes. Vacuum tubes amplify current. They were considered the start of the electronics age and were in early versions of radio, television, radar, analog and early digital computers. You might recognize the Cathode Ray Tube TV! However, the vacuum tube had a HUGE problem. It was large, hot, and required a TON of power.
The Transistor (Picture 3):
Then came the transistor. The first transistor known as the Point Contact Transistor, was only half an inch tall with a “Thumb sized” base. Its creators were focused on creating a replacement for the vacuum tube. The transistor acts as a switch or an amplifier. They’re quick, small, and don’t require a lot of power. Transistors have 3 prongs where voltage (or current) is applied to one of the prongs.
The transistor quickly revolutionized the modern world. Transistors were first used in radio and hearing aids and eventually other telecommunications (iPhone anyone?). Binary code, or 0s and 1s like 01010 is stored in computers through transistors! If the code mentions a 1, the transistor is on and if the code mentions a 0, the transistor is off. Today they make up the majority of our microelectronics. TVs, phones, computers, our cars and even stop lights have transistors. The internet would not be possible without transistors.
The Chart:
One quick note, the time for this chart is within a few hours. The historical sources I found stated the transistor first started working after lunch. This gives us a few hour range so I chose 2pm. This gives us a rough idea of the quadrants and the moon.
Anyway, there’s a few parts that stand out to me.
Final Dispositor and the SHAPE of the transistor:
The final dispositor, no matter the rising sign or midheaven, is a very happy sagittarius jupiter. It makes an applying aspect with every planet in the basket (assuming a 2pm time), AND THE POINT CONTACT TRANSISTOR LOOKS LIKE A SAGITTARIUS ARROW. Also, the transistor's whole thing is amplification! Jupiter loves to expand!! (Picture 4)
Mercury/Jupiter Conjunction:
New beginning in technology focusing on amplification. With that happy Jupiter that controls the rest of the chart and all of the generational planets, it speaks to abundance and growth with this device. Idk
Mars in Virgo:
The transistor did not work until the inventors realized they needed to diligently clean the surface of the semiconductor of any impurities!
Uranus in Gemini:
Technological and telecommunication innovations in technology happen within Uranus in Gemini. The transistor is the PERFECT example of a Uranus in Gemini technology story. Also, Uranus is associated with chaos which, alongside that aquarius moon, is a great example of the switching transistors do within circuits. Also, Uranus’s electromagnetic field in space randomly turns on and off.
Moore’s Law
My favorite part of this chart… Moore’s Law. Moore’s law is the idea that every 2 years the density of transistors in the same space will double. Essentially… if you take the same piece of silicon, every 2 years the amount of transistors on that same piece of silicon would have doubled. This means transistors get smaller, and smaller, and smaller. The original 1947 point contact transistor was half an inch or 1.27cm. IBM revealed a 0.7 NANOMETER transistor this last June. The iPhone 16 Pro processor (just the main chip) contains 20 BILLION transistors. (Picture 5)
Moore’s law was originally an observation from Gordon Moore in 1965 and has seemingly held true ever since. (there’s some debate if it still holds now)
I associate Uranus in Gemini with fracturing and duality. Moore’s law is another great example of this! With that Uranus ruled by the Sagittarius Mercury conj Jupiter, we see a large fracturing and expansion. The more it fractures, the more transistors there are. This process is supported by the Saturn and Pluto conjunction making trines and sextiles to Uranus, Jupiter, Mercury, and the Sun, providing structure and longevity to Moore’s law.
The end:
There is more to digest in this chart. I hope to find a more accurate birth time, but I hope y’all enjoyed and stay tuned for more technology charts and analysis from me!
for context:saudi feminists have called on a ban on the niqab and asked the government to provide protection from families to women who choose to take it off. the niqab is something that is NOT a part of saudi culture and is relatively new to certain tribes and regions and has only become a thing after extremism took hold of the country’s laws. it is now the cause of MANY honor killings, beatings, abuse, etc. if women decide to take it off. it is not mandatory by law but it has become very ingrained into society since the sahwa movement (better known globally as wahabi-ism) that has mainly focused on oppressing women. many regions (especially southren and northern saudi) have never had the niqab nor any form of hijab as a part of their culture until the sahwa and now these women are suffering from being forced to wear it or to die. niqabi women are often looked down to as poor, uneducated, etc.
what i find interesting about this chart are the feminine signs and placements! this chart is ruled by venus (significator of women). the 10th house (the public, authority, etc) hosts mars (action and drive) in cancer (sign of mothers, women, etc). both planets are uncomfortable in detriment and fall. venus trining the LoF AND the moon. venus also trining the midheaven!!!!!
jupiter is in the 11th house (where it rejoices) of groups, supporters, social media, hopes and dreams. the ruler of the 11th is also in the 1st.
saturn, in fall and retrograde, in the 7th house of the opposite, the other. i can see this as the opposition having outdated views that are built on a fragile structure. saturn is old age, hardships, lifelong lessons and it’s in the house of the other and public enemies.
also, mercury in the first where it rejoices. so fucking literal for a tweet starting an entire movemen. and in libra, nonetheless. mercury in sextile with jupiter in the 11th, amplifying its reach through social media.
what are your guys thoughts on this chart?
(also if you’re not a saudi woman suffering from the this, i DON’T want to hear your political commentary about it)
The 3H is called the house of goddess and 9H is called the house of god. The 9H is associated with faith and pilgrimage. But the 3H isn’t associated with faith or pilgrimage. Why isn’t the 3H more associated with the goddess worship, temple, nuns, or things of that nature?
Most "how rare is this placement" numbers assume babies are born evenly around the clock, and they aren't. Planned C-sections and inductions get scheduled in working hours, so births pile up in the daytime. I took the public birth records that include a time of birth and computed the charts. That's every registered birth in Brazil from 2006 to 2024 (53.6 million, with the minute and the municipality), plus national hourly counts for Japan 2015-2024 and the US 2016-2024. Those two don't give a birthplace, so I spread them over prefectures and counties by birth counts. 95.7 million births in all, positions from Swiss Ephemeris.
Share of births with the Sun above the horizon (with even birth times it would be about 50% in all three):

Japan has the highest share of the three with a C-section rate of around 20%, against 61% in Brazil, and its births peak between 1 and 3 in the afternoon. In Brazil in 2024, 71.4% of C-section babies had a day chart and 51.7% of babies born vaginally.
For the Sun, each Placidus house is a sixth of that day's daylight or of that night (two planetary hours), so the Sun's house works as a clock. The 12th, 11th and 10th are the morning up to solar noon, the 9th, 8th and 7th the afternoon. Share of births with the Sun in each house, all years pooled (even birth times would give about 8.3% each):

In Brazil a 10th house Sun is 2.8 times as common as a 2nd house Sun. Japan peaks in the 9th and 8th, the first two thirds of the afternoon. Whole sign houses show the same shape a little blurred, with Brazil peaking in the 11th at 12.7% and Japan in the 9th at 14.7%. Mercury and Venus follow the Sun. The Moon's house barely moves (every house within 0.3% of its even share), since the Moon goes around the whole sky every month and the hours average out.
Rising signs hardly change either. Over a year every clock hour passes through all twelve rising signs, so the share of each Ascendant sign shifts by at most 0.28 percentage points in any country and year, and Moon signs by at most 0.12. Sun and Ascendant together do change, because once the Sun sign is fixed the hour picks the Ascendant. In Brazil Aries Sun with Gemini rising (Sun in the 11th whole sign house, mid-morning) is 1.52 times as common as with even birth times, and Aries Sun with Pisces rising (Sun in the 2nd, before sunrise) is 0.54 times.
Wendy Stacey made the C-section point years ago from about 90,000 births at four Bristol hospitals (The Astrology Podcast, episode 214). This is the same idea run on national records.
All of this is babies born since 2006, so it says nothing about the charts of adults. Does anyone know of birth time records from before the 2000s, in any country? I'd like to see how far back the daytime shift goes.
I’ve been researching Hellenistic astrology techniques for a few months now and I understand detriment and domicile, but my problem is is that people tend to pass over exaltations and falls, and I am a bit confused on how to interpret them and how to put them to use
So for example someone has a Saturn in fall , does this mean more hardship for them or less hardship then if they had it normally,
Exaltations are described as being a special guest so does that make it easier or harder
It gets especially confusing for malefic of benefics I understand it with mercury and the luminaries but for example
1st house mars exalted but it’s a day chart and mars is poorly aspected
Does this denote confidence with appearance and confidence to act or does this mean there is an extra strong blockage against acting on desires
Or venus in fall in the 6th house positively aspected if Venus is struggling to benefit the topics of the 6th house does that mean 6th house topics struggle to manifest overall leading to a more positive health?
In Vedic astrology, the 6th house is a primary significator of illness and disease, particularly temporary ailments.
This raises an interesting question: Can a horoscope indicate which system of medicine is more likely to work for a person — allopathy, Ayurveda or homeopathy?
In my experience, I have observed the following patterns:
5th house associated with the 9th or 11th house: When these houses are connected through planetary association or the operating Dasha–Bhukti–Antara (DBA), alternative systems of medicine, such as Ayurveda or homeopathy, may prove beneficial.
4th house associated with the 9th or 11th house: When the 4th house becomes more prominent in the DBA and is connected with the 9th or 11th house, allopathic medicine may be indicated.
These are observations from my astrological practice, and I would like to explore whether others have noticed similar patterns.
So I have been thinking about the Tropical Vs Sidereal systems, and I want to hear other people's opinions about it.
Most of us know the definition or mathematical calculation behind each system, but what about their inner esoteric meaning? Does anyone have an idea? How can one decide which system to use?
The fact that there are two systems really disturbed me actually. How could there be two approaches that would cause an enormous difference in interpretation, and how come that no one of them has been clearly designated as the "correct" one all that time?
Same perplexity goes for different House systems too. If anyone could share insights about how they differ in meaning, or in basis, or which philosophical view does each adopt, I'd be really glad :D
Hi all, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a copy of this for years now but it’s never available in the UK. I only see a couple of used editions in the US that are super pricey. Is it out of print? And does anyone have a copy they’d be willing to share or part with? Thanks in advance
