My husband and I went to the stockyards a year ago around Christmas and was BEAUTIFUL. We are even tempted to move to Texas we just love it so much.
This trip will be in March and we went the hidden gems, places to stay, cool spots to check out.
We saw Cody Jinks at Billy Bobs and will definitely go back there, music is huge for us. We also want to go to the rodeo this time around too. But few more ideas and tips are welcomed! 🫶🏻

Hi all! My friends I are venturing out to West Texas for some stargazing next week and he is a huge steak fan. We are spending one night in Marfa, one night in Terlingua, and one night near the McDonald Observatory in Fort Davis. I figured our best bet for a nice steak dinner might be in Marfa but I could be mistaken. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone! My family and I are visiting Texas from November 23 to December 4. We’re thinking of going to San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas.
What would you recommend seeing or doing in each city? We’d also love advice on getting around, how many days to spend in each place, and any good stops along the way. My mom loves Western movies, so a fun cowboy or Western-themed experience would be a bonus, but we’re looking for general trip tips too.
Thanks!

Hi all! I help with community outreach at NAMCC (Masjid Aisha) on N. Lamar, and we’re hosting a free Lunch & Learn this Saturday on Women in Islam.
It’s open to everyone. You don’t need to be Muslim or know anything about Islam, and questions are welcome, including the tough ones. It’s a relaxed setting, and lunch is on us.
📅 Saturday, October 17
🕚 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
📍 North Austin Muslim Community Center, 11900 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78753
Walk-ins are welcome, but registering helps us plan lunch: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSccydW_yXD-DuG_zlWSbLY1QZkTchDYEo7wwbiIXcoJFSrL0A/viewform
Feel free to bring a friend, coworker, or neighbor. Happy to answer any questions in the comments!

My boyfriend and I are first time homebuyers and we have been looking into different programs and this particular program keeps coming up - Texas state affordable housing corporation.
Our combined gross income is around 101,000. Our credit scores revolve around 700-750. Not sure about our DTI but our monthly credit card, loan and car payments add up to $620.
We aren’t looking for anything big or expensive for a home but looking for assistance for down payments. Has anyone used this program and if so, do you recommend or have other recommendations of where else to look for?
note: we are at homes around Mercedes or Harlingen, TX, if that makes any difference on the programs we should be looking into

hey y'all :]
i'm attempting to draw all the texas counties(done 4/254+texas) as a daily project, so far i've been mostly winging it on what they look like(except travis, i go out and half the people i see are wearing hoodies), i'd appreciate some insight from people in counties i haven't gotten to
Counties I've got: Travis, Harris, Dallas(design based on a cousin who lives there), Bexar(borrowed the dress from someone else's design)
next up is orange county, which i already have a design for
then everyone else
i'm one of those weird kids who likes to draw people based of flags, so instead of cities, since there are WAY too many of those in texas, i went for our counties :] in my world they're mostly treated as normal people(which they kinda are minus the different colors and functional invincibility, which ofc adds to a discrimination factor that makes dificulty in job hunting), so they don't get special treatment and they do have to earn money if they don't want to end up on the streets, so local business uniforms work as well as casual or cultural clothing
some designs are based around animals too(Travis is a bat because thats something its known for a long with Austin) so suggestions for that are welcome too
no, i have nothing better to do :]

I’d like to help build a little community around here. Get to know our neighbors, make a few friends, and have something we can look forward to doing together. In my pursuit of putting my heart on my sleeve I'm finding a beautiful community
It can be awkward showing up somewhere when you don’t know anyone. I like the idea of having something simple to join in with, where a song or a laugh gives you an easy way to start a conversation.
So I’m thinking about a casual karaoke afternoon. Depending on the response, I could put it together and host it for free.
Everyone would be welcome. Come alone, bring a friend, sing a duet, request your favorite song, or just hang out and listen. I’d be happy to help introduce people.
Nothing’s scheduled yet. If you’re in Brookshire or nearby, would you be interested? What day or time would work for you?
