2 More Actors who started their studies right here in this sub. Rohan, a soft spoken office tech has now played every type of character from zombies to boyfriends to serial killers. Chris began class this year & just signed with an agent. They both followed the steps I listed below(click for more))

HERE ARE THE STEPS these actors followed when they first discovered this subreddit:

They—-read the written lessons found in the first pin post. They left comments after each lesson so that I could start communicating with them. The next step was to learn how to do written work, my way then applying it to a monologue of your choice. Post that work for my corrections. Then, you can post a video of you performing that monologue, applying all that you’ve learned. I will give you feedback. These two actors took some Private coaching with me early in the process and then joined the group Zoom class. That’s the fastest track to getting to where they’ve gotten.

JUST GETTING STARTED WAS A HUGE STEP. Again, the Lessons are in the 1st pinned post. The info for signing up for class is in the 2nd pinned post at the top of [r/actingclass](r/actingclass).

Classes are affordable and are naturally the quickest way for applying the concepts you learn here reading the lessons. They are also a great way to find out if you are loving the process. If you’d like to skip to classes right away, you can. But it’s best to take a couple private coaching sessions to prepare you for joining the group class.

Here is my promise. From the moment you get involved here , you will be my student. Once you start reading my lessons and commenting on each one, I will know you and will always answer your questions, giving you guidance as you go. You will earn a place under my wing, and I’ll be dedicated to helping you as you journey down the path to becoming a successful actor. You can start today.

Be sure to watch yesterday’s video of 2 other actors performing in the Showcase. And there’s more to come. You could be performing in just 5 weeks.

Don’t put it off any longer. Let’s do this!

**It’s A Proven Method!**

We have acting class sessions with a Performance Showcases at the end, every five weeks. Our performances are broadcast on Twitch for an audience so there is always something to work towards. It’s an invaluable experience for improving everyone’s acting skills. The difference between week 1 and week 5 is always amazing. Creating and polishing your new character every week keeps your skills sharp and ready for any audition or acting opportunity.

I haven’t been sharing lately because I’m so busy coaching on a new TV series. But I’m still teaching on Zoom every week, too. We had a show last week that everyone shone in. So I want to post a series of videos from that broadcast. Here’s the first. It’s a scene from the film “Together Together” about a single man who wants a surrogate to have a baby for him. You can watch their performance and learn something about acting too, just by watching this video.

These two had never acted before they found this sub. Now every Sunday they are in class, and practice with their scene partners during the weeks between classes. They get tons of feedback from me, their teacher each week and I am always available ass the mentor for every student around the world. Many have gotten agents and are auditioning with my help.

You can get started today!

Start reading the free lessons in the first pinned post at the top of the [r/actingclass](r/actingclass) page. Watch the video lessons. Follow the instructions for the course offered here, leaving comments after each lesson about what you understood. Then maybe you’d like to join our Zoom classes or begin with a private coaching or two. It’s a proven way to become a skilled actor. Students are getting agents, auditions and bookings. You can too.

Craft improvement

So, I have been acting for almost a decade now. I started off slow but took me time to get myself into TV love but it requires a hectic schedule. Now i have gone through some pretty bad issues since last two years which made me lose touch with my craft. I have gained weight and recently offered for a lead role where story revolves around a character which requires me to be chubby. Now its a big responsibility since i feel so lost in touch with my craft that it makes me nervous what to do about it. Being in isolation makes you lose touch with yourself and i dont really feel confident enough in me like i used to feel before. I wanna ace this role but it also scares me.

SUNY Purchase Acting BFA Tips

I am a current Freshman at SUNY Purchase who is currently a Theatre and Performance BA (THP). I auditioned for the Acting BFA program but unfortunately did not even get a callback. I've been here for just under 2 months, and I am not a fan of the THP major, and I know I would absolutely thrive in the Acting BFA.

I've tried getting to know people part of the Acting BFA, but it is so hard to find them because they only really mingle withing their acting company. I'm still new to campus, so I am slowly getting to know the faculty, but what else should I do/focus on to get accepted into the fall 2027 semester? What are they looking for specifically? Any tips?

Question for beginner actors w like no experience: Is it a good idea to self book roles on actors access, backstage etc. without representation or is that sketchy? I am non union but I don't want to get myself into any bad situations. Thoughts?

Acting Tips

Hey, My dream is to become a actress when I finish school but I don't know how to act and want to learn. The problem is I live in a small town and can't seem to find anywhere I can learn to act, I've tried finding acting classes or programs but they all cost money or are too far away. I also tried to learn from my theater class at school but they don't get into acting. Also my parents don't know that I want to do this because they want me to get an actual job like a "nurse" so I can't count on them for help. If you have any suggestions or know what I can do in this situation I would love feedback.

Is this a good monologue?

Hey , im 17, a woman and im going to try to audition to an acting class soon but I cant really find a good monologue. I prefer something comedic but not something that involves romance, which apparently is hard to find .I found this monologue but idk if its really good :

"I’m underwhelmed. Nothing impresses me or excites me. I am amazed by nothing. Numb…I’m numb to this world and everything that’s in it. I go through life with one face that doesn’t move. I never smile, cry, laugh, frown. I’m a hollow vessel, and my thoughts are empty.

My friend tells me I should seek adventure. I tell my friend that there is nothing adventurous to seek. I work in the mail department. I do the mail. Meet all kinds of personalities, and I’m immune to happy people, stressed people, and idiot people.

An invisible shield has enveloped my being, and my eyes are clogged with fog. Nothing reaches me, and I reach nothing.

Existence is only breathing…silently."

Would appreciate any advice, thank you!!!

Got any recommendations?

So I am now trying to get into the acting world or maybe even make the stories myself, as I already have written out stories and adventures on my own for fun, but I want to know if there's any specific books that would really help. I don't mean just help, I mean it teaches you right from wrong, how to get into the right rooms with the right people and what to say to them, teaches you how to get from point A to point z with everything in between with all the skills you'll need to learn along the way. My only request is preferably can they be something on Spotify because I still have 15 hours of audiobook time I haven't used and this is the perfect thing to use it on. If they're not on Spotify I'll look into getting the books from my local library. I don't care what I need to do and learn to get to the top. I am not going to let my name just be another writing in stone.

Incoming Fall 2027 International Student: Is it possible to legally and professionally pursue acting while majoring in Cell Bio?

Hey everyone,I’m an international student coming to the US in Fall 2027 on an F-1 visa. My primary major is going to be Cell Biology, but my absolute dream is to professionally pursue acting in the US.I’ve been trying to map out a legal strategy before I arrive, and to be honest, US immigration laws regarding the arts are incredibly stressful. I’ve gone from wanting to just take side classes, to considering a double major, to feeling completely stuck.I want to know the absolute, blunt reality from anyone who has successfully navigated the entertainment industry as an F-1 student. My Core Dilemmas:The Workload Reality: Is it humanly possible to balance a heavy Cell Bio lab schedule with the extreme time demands of theater rehearsals, film sets, and auditions? The Double Major & CPT/OPT: I know that to do paid acting work (commercials, indie films, theater) during or right after college, the work must be directly related to my major. If I double major in Cell Bio and Theatre, can I use CPT for acting gigs during school, but then use my 3-year STEM OPT extension for biology after graduation? Can I legally do unpaid acting work while on a STEM OPT biology visa? The "Good Opportunity" Catch-22: If I don't double major and just take side classes, I know I cannot legally sign a contract or accept money for an acting gig. Do international students just do student films and community theater for free to build a portfolio?Building an O-1 (Artist) Visa: My ultimate long-term goal would be transitioning to an O-1B Visa. Can you actually build an O-1 worthy portfolio entirely out of uncompensated indie/student projects and regional theater while maintaining a full-time STEM degree?I have a year before I arrive on campus, and I want to know exactly what I'm getting into. Should I pull the trigger on a Theatre double major just to keep my legal acting pathways open? Or is there a smarter way to do this? Thanks in advance for any advice, reality checks, or personal stories!
