Hey folks

2 hours of careful dremmel disk cutting, 10 minutes of reckless prying, and a month’s worth of cussing later and I’ve successfully exploded the factory flash hider off of the barrel.
And the barrel threads are untouched!!
Not too shabby considering 2 gunsmiths failed to remove it and boiling it in water for a half hour did nothing.
Now for that damn augmentor gas plug to release so I can suppress this bad boy…

Where can I find a tool to adjust the optic?

Hey all!! Just got done shooting a bunch of subsonic 300blk and had a blast but I’m starting to see why people have a brass deflector. I have an A3 (photo attached) and was wondering what the best one to buy would be.

I have had my AUG for around 10 months. The finish only on the right side of my reciever has been flaking off. Is this common, and what is the best method of covering the bare metal and protecting the remaining finish?

So I have a basic AR10 and wanted an AUG but having a little trouble justifying the purchase. If you already had a 308 what would the AUG in 556/223 actually do/ benefit you? What are some use cases that yall actually use your AUG for? (Looking for actually setups and use cases pls)
(Edit - trying to justify if the extra caliber is worth it essentially.)

(Picture so I can properly explain the situation lol. And because the rifle in question looks identical to the picture.)
So, I walked into my local shop that a friend works at so I could bullshit a bit before work.
They hand me a couple things off the shelf to finger around with, then I run to the restroom.
In that time, a gentleman walks in that i havent seen before. (I would find out that at one point he was part of the 10th Mountain Division.)
I come out of the restroom and am told to look at something. Its a FDE MSAR, in perfect condition. With a very nice multi pouch case. And 7 mags!!!!
And you know how much he wants for it?
$1100.
So needless to say on Thursday I will be joining the (knockoff) AUG gang!!!
I recently had the opportunity to scratch this one off from my bucket list and did it.
Obtained a factory Steyr Mannlicher suppressor for the 9mm AUG, or as I like to call it: the "Kanalröhrl" - sewer pipe.
I haven't used it yet on the range, so these photos are to preserve how it looks like, before it gets scratched, banged and otherwise used as intended.
The last photo is from a book about the Austrian special police unit Cobra, showing the suppressor on a MP88.

Can someone please explain to me how the gas plug works and what setting i need to use to run suppressed? Iv see some people say the S stands for standard, some say its suppressed. I know the H stands for high amd the GR is grenade.
I plan on installing a griffin armament taper mount minimalist flash supressor and pairing it with there reece 5k AM silencer which i believe is low back pressure

Hey guys,
I originally bought my AUG in 2021 and installed the 20/20 sear not long after. I’ve never had any issues before but now maybe once every lag or two it bursts fires randomly. I read that the sear can cause an issue but I’m not sure why now. I did get a replacement stock a year or so ago and I’ve been shooting it more since so maybe that? I also use graphite for the FCG lubricant but since the sear is metal and the rods are metal I shouldn’t? Thanks in advance

Anyone know what I should get? I'm a left handed shooter with right-eject AUG A3 M1.
I see Steyr has a deflector for $125 and left bolt is not available.

What a fantastic firearm, simple yet refined, rugged yet elegant.
Had an airsoft A2 early on in high-school and I absolutely adored it. Wasn't anything to write home about but it was an AUG, and it was mine. I had always han an affinity for this rifle, from classic 80s Christmas movies to CoD it stood out against anything else. It had all the parts you'd expect but they were all in the wrong spots compared to any other rifle I'd seen.
I liked it
15 years later (and a nice bonus from work) I snagged a factory new blem A3M2 for my birthday back in March. Bought 60 rounds of Winchester white box thinking that'd be enough to take some buddys to the range a few hours after the waiting period was up. 60 was not enough. I could tell the rifle was accurate, didn't even sight the thing in I was so excited. 25 yards back and for the first time shooting 556 I had a decent little group. One of my friends commented on the fireball each shot put out, I didn't notice but imagined it must look pretty cool. The concussion from firing was a sobering and when the bolt locks back a gentle wave of burnt powder let you know its time to reload.
Over 1000 rounds later I can comfortably say I am competent with this gun. By no means have I perfected it, but being self taught and being able to punch 2-3 inch groups at 100 yards is more than I can ask for this early on. I can hit what I'm aiming at and for now, thats good enough for me.
Factory 1:9 16" barrel and a Clawgear handgaurd. No actual upgrades to the internals as of yet. Honestly feels pretty good right now.
Now for the attachments
I love this stupid little low poly facog. It's held 0, the BDC is dead on from 25(300yds) to 100. Haven't been to a range long enough to see how rounds land from there quite yet.
3D printed case deflector, magwell, mag release, overtravel stop and charging handle are holding up with no signs of wear or deformation.
And the mags. Being able to spend a dollar per mag vs 30-50 is such a win. I have yet to have any sort of failure with the printed mags and have enough springs for six 30 rounders or 6 sets of a 10 and 20 (one spring cuts down to make one of each).
TLDR: Guns good, great even, would buy again. Over 1k rounds and the only malfunctions I've had came from me ridding the charging handle home. Trigger is fine (actually nice with the overtravel stop). Tune ya linkage!!

Had the boys try the 300BLK AUG for the first time. 208gr Hornady Black paired with the Q Speakeasy is a shockingly quiet combo.

So, I'm almost positive I have one of these:
Pimp your AUG with a Steyr Scope | thefirearmblog.com
That article is from 09, and the information on the internet is fairly scarce (or buried) for these outside of ancient posts on firearms / aug forums from around the same time period.
I say "almost positive" for 2 reasons:
1 - I have not been able to find any references to dupes that were ever sold
2 - It came attached to an MSAR STG-556 that i purchased.
Here's a video of me shooting the rifle when I first got it, with the optic on it:
(11) MSAR STG-556 Gen. 2 - See Description - YouTube
Is it possible to be a dupe? Anyone know if there were ever dupes? Is there a way I can verify it as authentic? I can post some pics later today.
If authentic - What's it worth? I would be interested in selling as I have upgraded the optic to something a little more practical. (I actually do not like the scope very much). No issue giving a little history to someone's collection as it's just sitting on a shelf for me now.

It was my impression that a 10mm riser for the A3SF was only available on the A3M1. The part on the Steyr website lists it as only for the M1 and multiple posts on here and other forums say that. I posted a thread the other day asking if anyone had a solution, no real solid solutions.
I called Steyr and talked to one of their guys over there. He initially said he didn't know if he had a solution, but he would look into it and ask around. Well he called me back a few days later and offered me a part. He said I might have to do a little work to it to make it fit. I said ok, paid $114, and a box arrived 2 days later.
Part 1252020529, UPC 688218812839 includes. screws and pins. 10MM Spacer for 3x Austrian SOF MilDot
Picture one is what they sent me, not pictured is the longer screws and two roller pins.
Picture two and three is testing what it looks like with the spacer and optic. It fits perfectly.
Picture four and five is what it looks like attached to the top of the mount. Note: When I bought my optic, it came with that front piece (on the right side) pinned onto it, you don't see this in picture 2 and 3 because I hadn't put it back on yet. I had to use a pin punch to remove the pin (harbor freight 8pc, $10), take the piece off, then reattach to the 10mm spacer with the same pin and punch.
Remaining photos are the finished product. You can put another roller pin that attaches the optic and the spacer on the front end, but it is also screwed in from the bottom.
And now I can see through the optic while gently resting my delicate cheek on the gun.

Had considered then abandoned the idea of a left-handed AUG; magazine restriction was the main factor. The NATO model is wrong-handed only, so that was out for me.
Only today do I learn they have a brass deflector that sends brass forward, away from my teeth.
So, fellow southpaws: How does the NATO model feel when using the brass deflector? If you put a can on the muzzle, how much gas do you take to the face?

So I was at a match when I started having lots of light strikes on the stage. At first I thought the firing pin was broken but after taking it apart between stages I found the true culprit. The right side cap of the operating rod was unthreading itself, causing the bolt to not go fully in battery and the rifle was trying to stop itself from firing to prevent a catastrophic malfunction and saving my face. Retightening the cap made it run reliably for the rest of the match and I've added loctite since. It sucks to forfeit the stage but I'd rather not look like Two-Face.
