Announcement Scam warning: read before you DM anyone

Red flags: - Anyone asking you to pay to join, "unlock" tasks or buy training. - People offering to rent or sell accounts, or asking to "use your identity". This breaks every platform's terms and can get you banned or into legal trouble. - "Recruiters" on Telegram or WhatsApp who pay in crypto or ask for your ID before you've had any official contact. - Fake domains (check the URL: mercor.com, micro1.ai, dataannotation.tech, joinhandshake.com, alignerr.com). - Cheque or overpayment schemes.

Real platforms never charge you. If it looks off, report it and post with the Scam Alert flair. Don't share personal data in DMs.

Announcement Welcome to r/AITasksLive: start here (FAQ + guides)

Welcome! This is a place to talk honestly about paid AI training work: RLHF, annotation, expert evaluation and coding tasks.

FAQ - Is this legit work? It can be. Established platforms (Mercor, micro1, DataAnnotation, Handshake AI, Alignerr and others) do pay real people. But experiences vary a lot: work comes in waves, projects pause without warning, some people wait weeks after onboarding, and pay and support issues get reported here regularly. Scammers also copy these brands. Treat it as side income rather than a stable job, read recent posts about the platform, and check the Scam Warning post before you share anything. - How do I get accepted? A specific resume plus taking assessments seriously. Guide: https://www.aitasks.live/guides - How much does it pay? It depends a lot on platform, project, field and country, and posted rates don't always match what people end up earning. For real numbers, check posts flaired Pay Report and the Wednesday pay check-in thread. - Why no tasks? Project-based work comes in waves. Use the weekly "Who's getting tasks?" thread. - Can I post my referral link? Only in the daily jobs thread: one per platform, account at least a month old, and include the plain non-referral link too.

Disclosure: This sub is run by the team behind aitasks.live, a free directory of verified AI training jobs. Some of our links are referral links, which pay us at no cost to you. Discussion here stays independent, and criticism of any platform is welcome.

No Tasks / Drought dashboard droughts seem to be the most common complaint here

Going by what people post across the AI training subs, empty dashboards come up more than anything else, pay included. Work on most of these platforms is project based, so it comes in waves and sometimes stops for weeks with no explanation.

The approaches people mention most are being on more than one platform, retaking or picking up new assessments when they open, and treating this as side income rather than rent money. Curious if anyone's found something that actually shortens the dry spells.

Onboarding / Assessment resume stuff that seems to actually work for these platforms

Pulled this together from a lot of reading through onboarding threads. Not gospel, but it keeps coming up:

  • list your field in plain words. "organic chemistry, 4 yrs lab work" beats "detail-oriented"
  • if you've done any writing, editing, tutoring, grading or QA, put it near the top
  • degrees and certs as plain text, since a lot of these get parsed automatically
  • coding: name languages and actual things you built, not "proficient in Python"
  • keep it short. nobody needs your 2014 retail job unless it's relevant

Anyone who's been through a bunch of these probably has stuff to add or argue with.

Question How long did it take you to get your first actual paid task?

Seems like a lot of people apply to a bunch of platforms and then wait forever without hearing anything, so I'm curious what's normal. Which platform got you your first task, how long did it take, and what's your background? Generalist, coder, some niche expert thing? I'll throw the answers into a summary post if enough people reply.

Hey all, we just started this and want it to be actually useful, not another dead sub. More pay data? Platform comparisons? Job alerts? Help for beginners? Tell us in the comments, we read everything. (Disclosure: the sub is run by the folks behind aitasks.live.)
