Hey everyone, I've recently built a bolt action 8.6 with a Faxon 16in threaded barrel and plan on shooting both subs and supers and was wondering what suppressor yall are running. Im wanting to get a Porq chop but I've seen a lot of people saying there are quieter cans. My goal is as quiet as I can afford which is around the $800-900 range so what would yall recommend?

Hey yall, currently building my first 8.6 BLK. I sent my Sig cross out to get a mos-tek barrel, 12.5”, 1:3 twist. I’m currently trying to pick between the Q short chop, or the DTF-LTI can. This will be primarily a hunting rifle, running both subs and supers depending on what game I’m going for. Any opinions or experience on either of those cans with that style of build would be really appreciated!

I've been wanting to get an 8.6 blk barrel to replace the 308 on my ar10 build but I'm an avid reloader and the 1:3 twist has kept me from going through, I don't want to shoot subs only or be limited to copper bullets, and that stupid fast twist rate would rip apart a cup & core fmj the moment it exits the barrel at 2000+ fps. Don't think I'd like to see what that does to the new can I'd also get with it. 1:6 is plenty to stabilize just about every loading I could find, I don't understand why they chose that twist. (don't say it adds a lot of KE I'm a nuclear engineer, it adds 2-3% max, it's a tiny diameter so even spinning stupid fast it's not that much energy, i.e. imagine a fly wheel thats 9mm in diameter, it wouldn't be very useful). I digress but there's so much potential in 8.6 and I'd hate to have to pass it up.

I just picked up an aero build and a porq chop suppressor. What subs are recommended. I have no experience with this caliber and running it suppressed. Looking through some older posts, most of the stuff is OOS.

Pretty much got into reloading bc of 8.6blk prices and i'm curious if anyone else has any working loads. This is my 1st test with barnes lrx 280gr at 100yds

As an update to my post, my musgrave south africa 8.6blackout is done(at least the action and barrel) shes off to the gunsmith now who will be doing the chassis while i wait for my license (the wood stock was just for testing) more pics in comments

Anyone here running either length of their barrels? I think Mos-Tek makes them for GQ? I ordered the 8" but have not gotten it yet but now im wondering if its a mistake for a sub mostly (maybe only) gun with the 1:3 twist. They do have a sub MOA @ 100 yard guarantee but I now im unsure lol.

Sighted in and ready for gun season if I don’t get one with my bow. Love this gun

Hey y'all I'm new here.

This is only the upgrade parts list. I haven't decided yet if I'm just going to buy something like the PRO2A Patriot SBR or just build the whole thing.

So I'm relatively new to AR projects. I've previously built an AR-9 SD build (see profile for photos) and I'm not experienced with AR-10's and would like some feedback those with experience.

As you can tell from the title, I'm currently building out a 8.6  BLK AR-10 and the three descriptors next to the title are almost contradictive due to their nature. A compact quality build typically doesn't inside with budget. But I'm optimistic.

What I currently have for the build:

• PDW stock/recoil system — Dead Foot Arms AR-10 PCW Stock. It includes the stock, receiver extension, recoil/plunger springs, plunger, end cap and spring cap.

• Charging handle — Breek Arms Sledgehammer AR-10/LR308 Gas Blocking Charging Handle.

• Safety — Radian Talon 45°/90° Ambidextrous Safety, 2-lever kit, black.

Build Goal:

I go hiking in the mountains a lot and after coming across some aggressive wildlife I decided to upgrade from a pistol to a powerful compact SBR.

(I'm not against paying top dollar for high quality parts when it's warranted)

· 8" inch barrel

I know 12" is the optimal length for ballistics but the drop off isn't that bad and I'm not trying to reach out ridiculously far. If I do later I'll optimize for that then. For now I'm doing this.

Why 8" inch? That's the minimum length for a lot of suppressors and I want to keep my options open till then.

Parts I'm considering:

Trigger — Wilson Combat TTU-3G-F, flat 3-Gun/two-stage-style unit, 3.5–4 lb.

Muzzle device/HUB interface — JMac RRD-360HD-30S-X37, 5/8×24.

Optic — SELECTED: Primary Arms SLx 1X MicroPrism Gen II, red ACSS Cyclops, SKU PA-SLX-1XMP-CYCLOPS. + Optic ARD

Any advice with the build would greatly appreciated.

I tried searching the group for similar thread but couldn't find any. My question is will the 1:6 twist still be able to stabilize those larger 350gr and shoot mid supersonic 200 gr? I wanted a versatile barrel that can still shoot supersonic if needed. It will be a 12" barrel for a Thompson center encore. What is the approximate lowest bullet weight that could be shot from a 1:3 twist?

Not sure if anyone ever shoot these out of an encore but would a 12in barrel clear their rifle forend? If not what would the minimum length be?

I’ve been searching for a Rossi LWC in 8.6 for quite a while. I got to order one today. With it being a single shot, break action what suppressor would we recommend? Obviously no flow through designs are needed here. I don’t need .338 LM durability, I don’t need full auto durability. It will live purely on the LWC so affordability is important!

This thing is wild. Need to make some adjustments to the gas but damn it’s fun to shoot

Just got my stock in today and I’m happy to report the Maxim CCS fits the Aero M5 without modification. Previously had an A5 tube with an H2 buffer in it. Switched to a KAK AR10 K spec buffer with flat spring, haven’t got it to the range yet in this configuration but I suspect it’ll run.

I know this is a little late to be asking. Hunt is in Te’o weeks. Has anyone taken out an elk or bigger with subs. If so how did it go

I’ve only shot 5-6 hogs so far out of an 8” gas gun shooting 352 subs from JCS. Everything has been from 20 yards to about 100, on foot with practically zero angle. On a lung shot, the pigs won’t bleed for the first 5-10 yards and then will start gushing. On the last one I shot, the bullet took out both lungs and clipped the heart but still didn’t bleed for the first 5-10 yards but then was spewing blood. Anyone know why this is happening? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

Looking at converting a 2A armament Xanthos to a 8.6 and would like to keep the oem handguard if possible. Looking at a 12" barrel and the HG is 15" with a 1.7ID. The 36M seems it should fit no issue but the DTF should have about 1mm clearance. Is that enough and out of the 2 what would perform better, if anyone has shot both on a 8.6. TIA
