Sent an e-transfer to a Tangerine account over 3 hours ago. Is this normal?! I’ve never seen it take more than an hour before.

I have read so many complaints on this sub about tangerine. I am thinking to open new account for daily expenses and phone bills. Is it reliable with e transfers and apple pays and online purchases. Any suggestions.

Hey guys, I opened a Tangerine account yesterday, and I have a few questions.
Every time I open the app, it keeps asking me to upload documents for verification and continue banking at the bottom. I’ve already uploaded my driver’s licence, SI. My chequing account is also showing available in the app.
How can I confirm that my account is fully verified and won’t get locked after making a few transactions?
Whenever i open the app it keeps asking me to upload documents even though I’ve already submitted them? I signed up yesterday.
Has anyone else experienced this with Tangerine? Any advice would be appreciated!

I tried to open an account with Tangerine and uploaded the only photo ID I had- my Driver's license.

The drivers licence had shortened one of my names Jay to J. Then Tangerine wanted a verification document showing my full name and address. Tangerine rejected my document (a utility bill) because it did not contain the letter J.

Tried to chat with a human but it just parroted that i need a document with J. In my name.

What do i do?

About a couple weeks ago I used their online chat on a public computer to complain that I can't login because of my browser (firefox). So they decided to give me a reference code and invited me to send a screenshot of the issue I'm having via email. Here is their message they sent me with personal info redacted.

I then reply to it and send the screenshot as an attachment. Then their system outright rejects the message because the email system says this:

So I did a little more digging and troubleshooted with telnet and yes they blocked the email port (25). However other email providers like google do not.

Tangerine needs to get their act together or they will lose alot of customers.

Who designed this?? Instead of telling a perspective customer right off the bat that they must download the app, the Tangerine website lets you enter all your data only to make you get stuck in the middle. I don't want any apps, I intend to use the service from my home on my laptop via a web browser. How do people get around this?

yall I AM STUCK AT THE EMERG VET UNTIL I CAN PAY THEM BECAUSE what do you mean!?!??! that i go to move money over from my savings to my chequing since it was over the initial budgeted amount in my everyday acc. Well, the app is down for maintenance so I can’t get in, I literally can neverrrrr get the website login to work and when I finally think I did get it to work it says it’s under maintenance too, or it won’t even give me the option to login. Just say’s to download the app. I called Tangerine, they said ‘we can’t do anything when system maintenance is being done’. So yea, Tangerine has some of the WORST customer service departments ever. Nice of them to let me know they’d be basically closing their bank for an hour and i’d be unable to access my literal money 😮‍💨🫠 guys can i post a pic of my cat for tax here or nah

EDIT :: My kitty and I are back home!! It was a RIPE bill 😷 and I actually ended up having to stay 2 whole hours after he had been discharged because the bank app waited until EXACTLY 0600.

Last night I spent almost an hour trying to reach Tangerine re a Security issue. I did talk to several people, and twice I was transferred to the "security desk". In both of those instances I was dropped from the call. The second time I got through to the Security Desk, I specifcally asked the person to call me back if the call was dropped. They did not. So, I gave up for the evening.

I tried again tonight and was finally successful after an addtional 20 minutes on the phone. Before I got through I was stuck in an endless loop where the tree kept repeating itself, so I had to hang up and call back,

But I finally did get through, spoke to someone, and my problem was resolved. Still, it was am awful experience.

How long does it take for the balance to change for a electronic funds transfer from a checking tangerine acct to wealth simple FHSA?

Tldr I moved money from tang to ws. The money transfered but also never left tangerine. So it seems ot duplicated. An error in my favor.

Wealth simple says transfer completed but tangerine acct balance is intact. So it appears the money is in both banks. Tang dosnt show record of transaction. No pending transactions or anything.

Its been a month and its a couple thousand dollars.

Will they correct the error? Do i keep the money in the checking? Can I at least move it to tangerine savings?

Im trying to sign up for Tangerine. I completed all the verification steps and the app is now asking for my signature (or autograph as they call it) but every time I to it, the screen clears and I hate to try again.

I tried the chatbot but it didn't understand. I tried to talk to an agent but it wouldnt let me without logging in (which i cant to because of the signature popup). I tried calling the phone number but it needs my client card.

Does anybody know the trick?

It says it was issued on Oct 5th, but nothing is showing up on my account.

I'm with another bank at the moment, but I recently discovered that I have not been receiving cashback on my phone bill or gym membership due to both merchants not properly coding the transaction as a recurring/pre-authorized payment.

I'm wondering if Tangerine has the same problem? Do they not reward cashback on bills that aren't specifically coded as recurring/pre-authorized payments? I feel like the only realistic solution here is to go with a CC that doesn't have this restriction, as opposed to making futile attempts to get the merchant to change how they do things on their end.

I’m in Japan right now with no cellular access and need access to my banking app, but they send a confirmation code to my phone via cellular, which I can’t get. So, I’m unable to access my accounts.

I can’t call them either - no cellular.

I’ve tried connect-ez to call the toll free number but they can’t seem to connect.

I’ve tried the online assistant, but that was an exercise in futility. It can’t handle a complex issue like this.

I’m surprised that Tangerine expects its traveling clients to always have cell service.

I got some funds in my saving account that I wanna transfer all at once to a different financial institution (Canadian bank). How do I do this safely? I usually do Interac E-transfers to my own self but it’s impractical due to daily limits on amounts I can send.

I just switched from Simplii to Tangerine account because it was no-fee and the website listed Apple Pay to make online and in-app purchases through VISA debit.

Now I just received my card and when I added it to Apple Pay, it only shows up as INTERAC. I cannot use it to make online or in app purchases unless I enter the card details manually. The client card itself lists both VISA and Interac.

For example my CIBC debit gave me a separate interac and visa to add to my Apple Pay app. Does anyone know how to sort this out?

When I contact Tangerine I usally log into the poratal and select contacts then choose call back. This menu was missing today around 8:30 PM EST on sept-24-2026.

Has tangerine removed call back ?

On Aug 31/2026 I went to deposit $315 cash in a Scotiabank drive thru ABM. It spit a $50 bill back out and asked if I wanted to add more money. I put the $50 bill back in and it spit it out again and cancelled the whole transaction. $265 gone. I spoke with manager at the branch and she said the machine “ate the money” and they would have a technician there next day and would call me. Nothing happened. Called Tangerine customer service Sept 03/2026. They said it would take 2-3 weeks to solve. Fast forward today they call me again and it seems we are restarting the process. Asking me the same questions as Sept 03 phone call and saying it’ll be another 2-3 weeks. What can I even do here? This seems insane for this to be going on this long.
