I've seen tons of other depressing deaths in and outside of Squid Game, but, years later, I still think about this a lot. It's sort of strange, because she only got a few minutes of screen time, but I rewatched it so much when I watched Squid Game for the first time. Last but not least are the Circles. The lowest rank of the staff who carry out the more mundane but risky tasks of the Games, such as delivering the players to the Island, begrudgingly serving food or incinerating the dead bodies, melting sugar, etc.

I feel like these guys were often overlooked due to their status. They’re essentially the first of the guards the players meet before being taken to the Island. Out of the three guards, they’re the ones from Season 1 we got to learn more about in terms of how they operate and go about their work around the facility, through Jun-ho’s perspective, and they probably had the most screen time compared to the Managers and Soldiers.

Like the Squares and Triangles, I used shape language to have them distinct from the others and the reflect their overall ranking. This was definitely the easiest of the three due to the rounded corners (the hardest being the Soldier for how many angles in their hood I drew).

What do you think about Gi-hun rejoining the games? Do you think it was a dumb decision or did he have no other options?

For me, honestly an interaction between Seon-Nyeo and Mi-Nyeo would be quite funny to watch. Or maybe No-Eul and Sae-Byeok, that would be interesting.

In season 1 the voting system was structured where if everyone voted X then they would leave and all the prize money will go to the dead people's families, but you could potentially rejoin later.

Meanwhile in season 2 the voting system was changed where if everyone voted X then the prize money would be divided among the surviving players however you cannot join back again

So what im saying is that what if season 1 had season 2's voting system. Do you think anything would change

And placed in the middle of the hierarchy are the Triangles. The ones with the machine guns who are directly responsible for eliminating the players.

Like I said on the previous post, I wanted to try and make each of the Guard’s designs subtly unique to one another than just being copies with a different shape. So while I made the hood of the Manager more square shape in certain corners, I made the Soldier’s hood more triangular in areas that would make sense. It does make a world of difference, in my opinion.

What were they thinking when they evacuated while armed—that if they ran into the Coast Guard or some military force, they would engage them?

They evacuated not only armed but also in uniform.

Gi hun went to end the games in season 2 & 3 , when eventually led to death & the Korean games island getting destroyed by the frontman when he got to know about jun ho coming to the island

Now let me talk about the topic : what if in a year, two winners who have already played these games before like gi hun join the games for the second time in the same year

Both past winners wanting to end the games come in the same year accidentally, completely unaware of each other

What are the possibilities that could happen? :

1. Will they both have a misunderstanding & think of each other as a secret agent of frontman who is pretending to be a past winner & will eventually betray so that the plan doesn't succeed

2. Or will they both trust each other & team up from the start

3. They will fight at the start but will team up in the end like Batman v Superman & Godzilla vs kong

4. How would the vips & frontman react to two past winners returning in the same year accidentally

I’m rewatching the show right now, and my god I just bawled my eyes out at the Russian roulette/“rock paper scissors minus one” scene. Mr. Kim sacrificing himself for his friend really doesn’t get talked about enough.

The same dude who made Gi-Hun sign a contract in blood last season turned out to be one of the most selfless people in the show.

I don’t know why it hit so much harder this time around, I think I just paid more attention to their friendship beforehand bc I knew what was gonna happen. His friend having just gotten married, and talking about the family he’s gonna build, and how the money would do wonders for them.

Just gotta give some love to Mr. Kim

Okay, not really, but Yim Si-wan (MG Coin) and Park Gyu-young (Guard #11) star in the Netflix action movie Mantis as a couple of for-hire assassins in a John Wick-like world where there are professional assassination companies with rules of the trade. Yim's character is, interestingly, like a cooler version of MG Coin--and a much better fighter.

Mantis is actually a follow-up to an even better movie, Kill Boksoon, also on Netflix.

Of course, how could I not include the ever iconic Pink Guards with three out four of the iconic Play Station shapes?

Along with the tracksuits and Young-hee, these guys were among the first things that would come to mind when you think of Squid Game. Literally, when Season 1 first released, these guys were everywhere around Halloween.

Naturally, we start off with the Squares, the commanders or supervisors who introduce the Games. The highest rank behind the Frontman (and then later the Masked Officer).

Initially, I was just going to do one body base of the guard, and then copy and paste the design with a unique shape on their mask, and just call it a day. But of course, being anal with the itty bitty details and having the habit of making my life more difficult, I thought it would give the drawings more personality by giving small and subtle differences to their designs. Not just to give something else to set them apart aside from the different shapes on their masks, but to also sort of reflect their status in the hierarchy through shape language.

I was also debating on how I should color the background. I was going off of a comment regarding the color theory when it comes to the players and the staff, so I figured that since I’ve got red (In-ho) and yellow (Jun-ho), might as well do orange (I guess a sort of nod to the orange doors in Season 2 where it was revealed that No-eul was a Solider). In the Soldier files, they’re shown to be standing in front of a dull grey almost blue wall, and I felt that looked kind of drab. I was also debating on giving them a green/teal background as a sort of parallel to the pink background for the players. But I don’t know honesty. For now, the Guards will have to stand in Orange.

What do you think In-ho had planned if the games had played out normally and ended like they usually do?  Captain Park allows Jun-ho and the mercenaries to find the island but then what?  Is the facility able to be shut down so that it is impossible to access from the outside (even via the cave) or would there have been a gunfight between the triangles and the mercenaries?  Any ideas?

I just got into the series and I honestly was so confused with the two plot holes in one episode (Episode 7, Season 2).

First, why didn't Seong Gi-hun warn the entirety of the 'X' team that they will be ambushed at night? The fight would've still happened but at least the 'X' people could have helped defend themselves.

Secondly, why didn't he also mention the entirety of the prize money as in an incentive for the 'O' side to join them?

Obviously they're willing to even kill and risk their lives for larger amounts of cash. The difference is that they would have been risking their life once instead of another 3 times with the remaining games and have a much higher chance of leaving the island alive with a large amount of money.

I tried asking ChatGPT/SuperGrok for an explanation, but the answers were so crap. I am hoping a human perspective would help shed some light into any meaning or reasons as to why the main protagonist, being portrayed as a righteous & tactical hero, would fail in these two major threads that would've saved more people & helped accomplish his mission.

Naturally, we have the Frontman, so now we have his paternal half-brother, in his Number 29 guise.

I’ll admit, upon first viewing, I didn’t really care much for the Detective’s subplot about him infiltrating the inner workings of the games that eventually led him getting involved in an organ harvesting conspiracy. But overtime and further rewatching, I grew to appreciate the character and his subplot, showing how the games and the system’s warped ideology works, as well as giving us some incite and perspective on some of the Guards, and how far people will go just to get ahead.

Jun-ho was also a lot of fun to draw. While tedious, the mask was much easier this time around and I think the end result turned out pretty well.

I didnt expect to get as invested as I did. I only started the first season less than a week ago. Binged the whole lot in 1 night. Then Season 2 all in the next night.

Then rewatched both seasons across a few days to pick up on things I missed, because I got a little confused sometimes. Eg. I thought the step-dad who we see for just 1 scene, was the doctor helping to harvest the organs. And i was waiting for 456 and him to spot eachother at some point which never did! Was it just me who thought it was the same character? 🙈

I enjoyed Seasons 2&3 the most, despite knowing that that's not the popular opinion. Only negative thing for me was the final challenge dragged for so long that it got a bit silly. At first it was exciting, but on that middle platform... jeez that was VERY drawn out!

Oh and also the stupid VIPS from BOTH events just sucked. There was no need for them really. Dumb dialogue, really cartoonish and video-game like voices. Just why? Why did they make them so bad?

The bridge game and the jump rope game were 2 of the best games, but ruined by those constant cuts to those VIPs, which is a damn shame.

Amazing show altogether, the attention to detail in the game of Mingle especially was incredible.

Great fight scenes, great acting, great tension...

Thought I was completely done with this gallery? Well, not really.

Now my initial plan when prepping this series was to focus solely on the planned 25-player grid. But as I was working on the drawings, and mulling over it during my break, the more I started to think that it wouldn’t be right to not include the staff of the Games as well. They’re another key and iconic aspect about the show, after all. Besides, when I get the intended full image done, then it’ll just be a diamond with a grid of players surrounded in black. Kinda drab thinking about it.

I mean, what the hell, I already drew Il-nam anyway, so might as well go the next step and draw his right-hand man, the one who operates and oversees all matters of the facility.

In-ho was another one I had fun drawing, but was also one of the most tedious, particularly with getting the geometric, intricate details of his mask right. But I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It was also a bit of an adjustment but a relief at the same time as I was working with other colors besides teal, green and white.

Naturally, I think y’all know who’s up next.

As I already said in another subreddit im not gay and i don’t even think about Squid game anymore but God everytime I hear the number 100 i think about him. You know im an OG fan i watched the show in 2021 and that wait for season 3 in 2025 was really depressing because he was obviously dying in Jump Rope but my man made it Jesus at least i have something in common with him and Im Jeong Dae will always be connected to me, my blood, my soul and my meat. If there is an island with deadly games i want to larp as him im not gay. God his speech and his Goddamn haircut and scared innocent faces makes me want to mlmlrmrmrm
