Trailer videos for Social Media?

• Upvotes

I'm thinking about making a short, documentary-style video trailer like this for each individual episode of my audio podcast to post on TikTok, Reels, Shorts.

Is this a good idea for every single episode, or is it a fast track to creative burnout?

Making video clips from podcast episodes

I got frustrated with traditional waveform videos for my narrative podcasts so I built a tool that auto generates full length videos and 9.16 clips of the best moments.

Would appreciate everyone’s feedback on the result!

Please consider giving the awkward neurodivergent, disabled girl the shot of a lifetime. I promise authenticity and humor and to do the best I can if given the chance. Thank you. It means more to me than you know.

Hello, I have a lot of free time on my hands and I’m looking to get some hands-on experience working on a podcast- research, show notes, scripting, etc. to start building my portfolio up. Can we ever discover what reality is fundamentally made of? | Daniel Whiteson, CERN physicist

I recently interviewed Daniel Whiteson, a particle physicist working with CERN's Large Hadron Collider, for my podcast Seekers Mindtalks.

One idea I found particularly fascinating was that the particles we currently consider fundamental might have deeper structures we haven't discovered—and we may never have the means to investigate them.

We also discussed whether numbers are fundamental to the universe, why physicists disagree about what a particle is, and how complex systems give rise to surprising simplicity.

I'd love to hear what others think about these questions.

Experienced Podcast Host & Producer Seeking Progressive Female Co-Host for a Different Kind of Commentary Show

I'm developing a current affairs and social commentary podcast, and I'm looking for my intellectual opposite.

I'm a pragmatic centrist. I approach issues through logic, evidence, practicality, and real-world consequences.

I'm looking for a woman who leans strongly liberal or progressive, approaches issues from a more empathetic, human-centred perspective, and isn't afraid to challenge me.

But here's the twist. We're not trying to win arguments. We're trying to find the best answers.

Two intelligent people. Two fundamentally different perspectives. One shared objective: figuring out what actually works, while recognizing that almost nothing in life is black and white.

No political tribalism. No manufactured outrage. No intellectual dishonesty.

I want someone articulate, quick-witted, intellectually curious, opinionated, and comfortable having their beliefs challenged. A great sense of humour is essential.

And I'm bringing more than just an idea to the table.

I'm an experienced podcast host and producer of several shows, with an extensive background in sales, marketing, and audience development. I've also developed a proprietary growth strategy specifically designed to help build an audience for this project.

I'm looking for a genuine creative partner who's as interested in building something successful as they are in having fascinating conversations.

Podcasting experience is a bonus. Chemistry and intellectual horsepower matter more.

The goal is to demonstrate that people can disagree profoundly without becoming enemies, and that the strongest argument should win, regardless of who makes it.

Interested? Send me a DM telling me a little about yourself and why you think we'd make an interesting pairing.

How I find the clip-worthy moment in an episode

I’ve spent the last few months looking at a lot of podcast clips (I’ve been building a clipping tool), and the ones that do well almost always follow the same pattern. Here’s the checklist I use now:

  1. The first 3 seconds have to make sense on their own. If the clip starts with “yeah, and so…”, cut it. Start on the strong line, not the setup before it.
  2. Look for an opinion, a number or a confession. “I tripled my price and nobody left” beats a nice general chat every time.
  3. 20–40 seconds is the sweet spot. Longer clips lose people unless the story is really good.
  4. Always add captions. Most people watch with the sound off. One to three words on screen at a time is easier to read than full sentences.
  5. Put a short hook on screen that says what the clip is about, so people know why to keep watching.
  6. Audio-only show? Use an audiogram. Cover art, a moving waveform and captions do well.
  7. Post 3 clips per episode, on different days, not one.

If anyone wants, drop an episode link with a short note on what it’s about, and I’ll reply with the 2–3 moments I’d clip, with timestamps.

Picking clip moments from audio-only episodes

If your show is audio-only, picking clips is harder because you can’t rely on faces or reactions. The words have to do all the work. Here’s what I look for:

  1. A line that works with no context. If someone has to have heard the last 5 minutes to get it, skip it.
  2. Strong opinions, surprising numbers, or “I was wrong” moments. Those make people stop scrolling.
  3. Start on the punchline, not the setup. Cut the “so anyway, um” part at the start.
  4. Keep it 20–40 seconds and end right after the payoff.
  5. Captions are a must. With no video, the captions are what people actually watch.
  6. Put a short hook title on screen so people know what they’re about to hear.

If you want, drop a link to an episode below with a one-line summary, and I’ll reply with the 2–3 moments I’d clip, with timestamps

Looking for a English Podcaster to work with as editor, I'm not a beginner, building editing portfolio

Why am I looking for another podcast client when I already have one?

The post is pretty much about what the title says. I'm not a beginner; I'm already working with a client who runs a current-affairs podcast with a sarcastic style.

So, if I already have a client, why am I here looking for another podcaster to work with and build my portfolio?

There are several reasons:

  1. More creative work: My current podcast is remote, so there's less to work with visually. I'd like to do more creative editing, including color grading.

  2. Language: My current client makes Hindi content, and I'd like to work on some English-language podcasts as well.

  3. Creative freedom: Since my client covers trending news, there's often a rush to get videos out. They also have an established editing style, so I'd like to work with someone who allows more flexibility with deadlines and gives me more creative freedom.

  4. Variety: Honestly, I'm getting a little bored with the current content and would like to try something different.

Ultimately, I want to expand my experience, build a stronger portfolio, explore different editing styles, and do more creative work.

But does the error of putting the Paypal happen to you?

Seeking a podcast co-host with lived experience of binge eating (London)

Hi Everyone!

I’m looking to start a podcast about binge eating and would love to find a co-host who also has a personal experience with it.

Just to give you a bit about myself, my name is Ellie (29) and I am based in London. I have been going in circles with my binge eating since I was a kid and would love to help people feel less alone about all this. I see far too many accounts that are teaching you ‘5 steps to cure yourself’ or ‘how I stopped binge eating completely’ and it’s really not that simple.

I have an idea for the podcast and would be hosting, but I’m looking for someone I can bounce ideas off, have honest conversations with and build something meaningful alongside.

I want to explore the realities of binge eating, the thoughts and feelings that come with it, and the things we don’t always feel comfortable talking about openly. I’d love to create something relatable and conversational that helps people feel less alone, rather than a podcast focused on giving advice or telling people how to fix themselves.

You don’t need to have any podcasting experience, I only know small amounts! I’m much more interested in finding someone who connects with the idea, is open to having these conversations and is excited about creating something together.

If this is something that might be of interest to you pop me a message!
