Been trying to grow this ghost pepper plant since June and not sure what this other leaf is that started growing next to it.

At first I thought it was part of the plant. My girlfriend says it might be weed.

We are expecting a freeze tonight and will be away from home for at least 7 days starting Monday so I just went and took everything regardless of color. I didn't have a chance to get a photo of everything as I sent my boyfriend home with 2 grocery bags full before I laid everything out

Was growing between my habaneros, but this plant always gave this little tail where all others had the typical round tip

Started the plant off as a "see what happens" and when frost hit last year, all the plants died except this pepper, so I brought it inside and low stress trained it and it gave me 200 peppers, brought it outside and gave me 1000 more, so it got pulled in today but here's pocs from outside real quick.

Stem is 3/4 inch thick.

It was "reburied" so the stalk would "double root".

I plan on keeping it alive as long as I can. When I heard they could live 50+ years I laughed and wondered.

I have not cut it. Only low stressed.

Question about cross pollination.

I posted earlier this season that i discovered some volunteer Cayennes. One plant out of like 7 had a significant increase in girth if you will, and length. Lol i know but seriously. It's obvious that this was cross pollinated with my best guess Hungarian Hot Wax pepper. It's either that or Jalapeno and it doesn't seem like it to me. In the majority of the volunteer Cayennes, they are small, curly and thin with ripples where the seeds are. This one plant has several very thick, long and straight peppers that are not even close to the original size. I'm wondering if anyone can say, if i start these seeds next year, what should i expect? What's the likelihood that this mutation will continue in this manner or will it likely revert back to the normal fruit size? This was unintentional and unexpected. In the pics you can see the normal small size vs the new increased size. The plant that has increased has 3 peppers of the same larger format. All the other plants are true to normal size. I even pulled one of the regular peppers into the Pic for context when they were growing.

Restructuring after overwintering? NSFW

5 in my collection here are jalapeños from last year along with 2 Carmen and 2 Bell from this year. I have some great ones with one main fork but then several that are a trunk with a couple spindly branches. Does anyone cut back further now or in the spring in a way that could promote better structure for my plants?

It's getting too cold outside over here in 🇩🇪

I've built this rack last year because I want to overwinter my plants but don't have many options other than to hang them on the wall lol.

There's a window on the right and also a grow light in the ceiling lamp.

Let's hope I can bring those beauties through the cold season.

  • Has 4 large leaves showing discoloration
    • pic 1 - leaf 1 is odd yellowing at bottom, and has black lines all over
    • pics 3-5 shows other 3 leaves with black lines throughout
  • ~15" tall, ~3 months old, grown entirely indoors
  • I have 4 other baccatums 1~2y old, none of those 4 have had any leaves look like this 🤔
  • I fertilize all my peppers with gaia green all purpose 4-4-4 and amend with marphyl calmag when I see a deficiency

I’m pleased

My grandma gave me this jalapeño plant a few yrs ago

First year nothing

Last year I had two (both red)

This year 10

I had enough to make jalapeño cheddar sourdough bread

These are my first red ones of the year

One will be made into salsa

The other is going into a fruit smoothie

Overwintering: Zone 6b

I have about 4 mature (30”+ tall) bell pepper plants, 2 mature jalapeño plants, and 3 baby bell pepper plants that I’d like to overwinter. Our first freeze comes in 2 days so I’m on a time crunch. The mature plants are still growing fruit. Can I move these to my overwintering pots in the garage and keep letting these peppers grow to full size or do I sacrifice them? Hope many plants can I put in each pot if it’s only to overwinter (and they’re cut down to a few inches of stem)? I have these reusable fabric planters (pictured here). Lastly, are these 3 baby plants worth saving?

Will trimming the Topps of these help them grow wider? Do I trim at the next node?
