Discussion Edwin Diaz (at the time of writing this) has recorded more Saves and experienced more postseason baseball as a Met in the NLCS than he has with the Dodgers.
2024 NLCS:
1 Save
5.1 IP
0.00 ERA
6 Ks
2 H
2 BB
2026 NLCS:
0 Saves
3.0 IP
3.00 ERA
2 Ks
1 H (a HR in 9th Inning)
Do with these numbers what you will.

Twitter [RUMOR/Big grain of salt warning] According to @Alden_Gonzalez The Dodgers are NOT expected to offer Tarik Skubal a mega contract before the December 1st lockout.

Mets Minor League According to Baseball America RHP Luke Gabrysh (Raley trade) had the 5th best Stuff+ min 1,500 pitches in the MiLB. And the best Slider according to them on raw stuff. Maybe someone to look at in the future even if for the bullpen.

Discussion I'm not the biggest fan of David Stearns, but..
Do y'all think we're seeing the Brewers team he created? Is there reason to feel hopeful that maybe the work he is doing in the farm system for the Mets will eventually pan out the way it has for the Brewers? Or am I just being overly optimistic?

Opinion Ring-chasing, Cock-fighting Edwin Diaz didn’t get his coveted ring. Sound the trumpets 🎺
Like many others, I was pretty salty when he bounced for Hollywood. So this is just as satisfying as the non three peat.
As an aside, baseball is fun, weird and unpredictable. There was so much defeatist discourse when they signed Tucker and again when trading for Skubal. Only to get 🧹🧹🧹🧹 swept in the NLCS

News Mets to expand pro scouting department, likely leading to more in-person evaluation: Sources
Highlights:
* The team is expanding the amount of in person scouting they do.
* The team currently only employs four (!!!) Pro scouts. Most teams have about 10, sometimes less. The Dodgers and Rays carry more than 15.
* The Mets recently decided to part ways with a long time scout of theirs.
It's surprising that a team whose aim is to put great processes and systems in place has such a sparse scouting department. This seems overdue.

Analysis Steven Matz has appeared in the 2026 ALCS!
This is Steven's first appearance in an LCS since he started Game 4 of the 2015 NLCS NYM v CHI, 4,012 days ago. Kudos to Steven for sticking around so long. He is one of 5 2015 Mets still in the league.
- Jacob deGrom: Texas Rangers
- Steven Matz: Tampa Bay Rays
- Michael Conforto: Chicago Cubs
- Travis d’Arnaud: Los Angeles Angels
- Zack Wheeler: Philadelphia Phillies (injured all of 2015)

Discussion Convince me our new players will good next year!
I really want to believe. The Mets have done this to us before. The last iteration of Vientos, Baty, Alvarez, Mauricio, etc. have me unconvinced that Mclean, Benge, etc. will be solidly as good as this year. What makes them different?

Discussion Baseball, Vietnam And Coming Of Age At The 1969 World Series
https://www.npr.org/2014/10/15/356435069/baseball-vietnam-and-coming-of-age-at-the-1969-world-series
57 years ago today 10/15/1969 Tom Seaver and the Mets, had Game 4 of the World Series which fell on the same day as the Moratorium to End the War in Vietnam, when hundreds of thousands protested nationwide. Seaver had called the war ridiculous and said that if the Mets won the World Series, he’d buy a New York Times ad saying the U.S. could get out of Vietnam. Outside Shea Stadium, protesters handed out anti-war pamphlets with his face on the cover. Mayor John Lindsay, who opposed the war, ordered city flags flown at half-mast, including the ones at Shea. Seaver pitched all 10 innings that day and won 2-1.
Did he ever buy that ad?

Analysis Transactional Leaks, Steven Cohen era
One of the most Respected and Cool Things about the Knicks was how close to the cuff every move was.
With the Mets it's quite the opposite. They coveted Tucker and Diaz and lost the bidding war (thank God!) why do we even know they were all in on Tucker? That should have never been a thing. Why boast about losing out on Diaz for 3 million dollars or a better team? There's entirely no reason to give out your offer right away. That stuff usually comes out way later on in the season.
To have Daily Reporting and your own Channel suggesting they are offering Skubal the most is Over Promising and possibly delivering. Some Free Agents in all the major sports don't want to be auctioned off. They want to see the plan/the vision/the culture/the city/the media. By saying $$$$$ is your answer, you're implying they're not satisfied with what they have done so far in their careers.
Wouldn't the way more logical/fun/satisfying route would be to just sign him in secret???
It's just embarrassing that this team could have both Soto and Skubal but they won't be projected to be running away with the division. That's why you make those moves, to be a perennial favorite for the World Series, the division should be a given but it's far from reality.

Analysis [Mark Simon]1986 Mets Rewatch: NLCS Game 6 (16 innings)- Baseball Beowulf 40 years ago today
Happy 40th anniversary to the all-timer among all all-timers, Game 6 of the 1986 NLCS between the Mets and Astros.
I rewatched it so you don't have to (though you certainly could, but it'll take awhile!).
I was in Hebrew School for the 9th inning comeback. Where were you?

Analysis Why Michael Soroka Makes Too Much Sense for Mets This Offseason
Entering this offseason, the Mets realistically need two starting pitchers. I think Michael Soroka would be a great fit for several reasons, which I outlined in my latest article.
Curious if you guys agree or if there are other mid-rotation starters you'd rather see the Mets pursue this offseason.
