Hello ,

I am planning on taking the Chemistry 110 online class ,and my question is , what will be the meeting times for online classes or how do they work specifically? I haven't been in University for about 10 years but now I want to complete it and get my degree. I am currently working full time and will only attend school part time. I just want some insight into how online classes work. Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I'm one of the volunteers in charge of the NASA Space Apps Chicago hackathon and and want to make sure you're aware of our sign up. I posted about this in the Computer Science Society Discord as well, but want to cover all my bases. Info below and a couple quick notes. The event is free and we take sign ups on a first-come-first-serve:

• Our host, 1871, has room for 300 people.  If you want to be at the hackathon please sign up for the in-person option even if there is a large waitlist.  Given the rate of no-shows and cancellations, we expect to offer spots to several hundred people from the waiting list.  We may explore some overflow space nearby if demand warrants it.
• There is a new theme and the hackathon has moved within NASA to Citizen Science. This year’s challenges may be used to get the next man or woman to the moon and beyond.
• We know that the job market is difficult this year, and we're doing our best to make sure that this is a great opportunity to network.  So far we have Microsoft,, CBOE Global Markets, and Optiver as sponsors and are actively working to bring in a couple other companies that are hiring.
• We’ll have a cash prize

NASA Space Apps Challenge Chicago in Partnership with CIERA-Northwestern and 1871

Date: November 14-15, 2026
Where: 111 North Canal Street, hosted by 1871, Chicago’s largest innovation hub. We will be open overnight.
Cost: Free

What is it exactly:

• NASA Space Apps is the world's largest hackathon, occurring in 500+ locations.  This is a unique opportunity to showcase your expertise in the exciting domain of space science, learn from faculty at our host institution, CIERA (https://ciera.northwestern.edu/), and connect with like-minded students and professionals who share your passion.
• Come with a team or we'll help you form one there. You'll work for two days on a problem provided by NASA and present your solution in front of a panel of judges on November 15th.
• This year’s theme is The Next Frontier.  Join us to develop tools that benefit humanity and contribute to the science and technology propelling us to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.

Who is it for:

• Anyone with an interest in space and science. With support from experienced technical and subject matter experts, it’s a great opportunity for those participating in a hackathon for the first time.
• Data and Computer Science students, engineers, or any students who are looking for a chance to solve real world problems with real world data provided by NASA and partner space agencies
• Students who are looking for a chance to add something interesting to their portfolios and do something different and exciting

What else is in it for students:

• Take home some cool swag!
• Food will be provided — no need to bring your own
• Network with professionals from companies like Optiver, CBOE Global Markets, Microsoft, Google, and more. They'll be recruiting, judging, and mentoring at the event.
• This global competition is your opportunity to showcase your skills and ideas to a wide-reaching, influential audience.

Hey everyone, hoping to get some guidance. I'm an undocumented student, and I had the MAP Grant through the RISE Act. After the recent court ruling, both were pulled from my financial aid award.
Classes start in 2 weeks, and I'm trying to figure out my options. I've already Financial Aid but didn’t get much traction. Has anyone else has been affected by this or has been through something similar?
I'm trying to stay enrolled and start on time, so any help is appreciated. Thanks

UPDATE: they will keep charging IN-STATE tuition for everyone but still no funding.

40 dollars for each! Or less, but not 10 dollars because that's a coffee cup in this economy.

Please share your recent experiences at NIEU. What's it like living on campus? How's the cafeteria? What do you do on weekends? And, anything else you want to share.

Hey everyone, I'm looking to take the equivalent of physics 132 (for UIC) over the summer here and wondering how it was and if anyone has taken it or if anyone knows how the professor [Pathak, Atanu](mailto:A-Pathak4@neiu.edu) is? Thanks!

Hi im a graduate student looking for female roommates for an apartment near uni.

Hi all. I’m starting as a student in the the interdisciplinary studies in August. I’m starting after finishing an associate’s elsewhere and will be a fully online student. Does anyone have any tips, things to avoid, or any other intel that they would be willing to share? Thanks.

Hey everyone! I’m (19M) interning in the north Chicago suburbs area this summer from June 1 to August 7 and am currently looking for a summer sublease/roommate situation.

I’m pretty flexible on dates and housing setup (a room in an apartment/house is totally fine). My main priority is being reasonably close to a Metra station on the Milwaukee District North (MD-N) line since I’ll be commuting to work from there.

I’ve mainly been looking around areas like Albany Park, Irving Park, Mayfair, Forest Glen, etc., but I’m open to other neighborhoods as well, and my budget is very flexible.

If anyone has a sublease available or is also looking for roommates this summer, please reach out!

Hi, everyone! I hope you're all doing well!

I was wondering if anyone had a free pdf or free version of this book: Adult Development and Aging Growth, Longevity, and Challenges (2020)? It's for PSYCH 325. Tysm!!

Hey guys, I'm going to be interning at an office near Northeastern Illinois this summer (2026), and I'm curious about summer sublets from students at the university. AirBNB is not the move. Any help?

Does anyone has extra or let me borrow? I can pay... i didnt know deadline was too soon

Hi, I'm going to do my summer intern near Lincoln Square in Chicargo from end of May to mid Aug. I am looking for sublease for those 3 months. Anyone can give me some info? Thanks.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone had any extra graduation tickets they would be willing to sell for the may 15th commencement.

Wondering if anyone has just graduated with their MPH that i could rent the cap/gown/hood from just for the ceremony? Buying a brand new one just doesn’t look realistic right now but i’d love to still be involved if possible..

Hi everyone , I am transferring from a CC to NEIU . I am majoring in poli sci I was wondering how the poli sci department is

Thank you

I am transferring from a CC to NEIU !! I was wondering how much is tuition with a dorm !!!

I feel like it should have come by now based on the last 2 years.

Hi everyone,

I’m a transfer student starting the BS in Information Technology at NEIU. This semester I’m planning to take CS-303A along with a few other CS courses.

I’m a bit nervous about CS-303A since it’s a 5-credit course and I’ve heard it can be heavy. I took Python recently and found it challenging, so I want to be realistic.

For those who have taken CS-303A: • How heavy is the workload really? • Is it better in-person or online, and why? • Any tips for succeeding in the class?

I’d really appreciate any honest advice. Thanks!

Are the grades for classes out today or will they be out in the afternoon?

Im looking at a decent graduate program in the Chicago area, and I'm coming from out of state (California). I stumbled upon NEIU, and wanted to see if anybody could tell me a little bit more about the quality of the Geo/ES graduate program here. I already have a degree in Environmental Science.

Sorry for the bait and switch.

Have you guys got your money yet? Should we get it tomorrow or later in the week?
