Information Bryan Kohberger's letter of Appeal regarding his termination from his Teaching Assistant Position. Dated 12/21/2022
Hat Tip Once again to Sarah D Irish on X.
https://x.com/sarahdirish/status/2103594085139509371?s=46
A little more than a Month after Kohberger committed 4 heinous murders, he sent this letter to appeal his termination from the WSU Teaching assistant position. In this letter, he argues that the decision was erroneous, he was not given due process, and a was a travesty and injustice.
Reading this in context, knowing he killed 4 people in cold blood viciously and he is complaining that their decision was unfair, paints a picture of just how narcissistic and evil he was. However, we do know he was planning to return to WSU in the fall had he not been arrested.
I know Kohberger is evil incarnate but things like this even years later still surprises me.

This mostly talks about the defense being denied a delay in the trial because BK was having supposed difficulties understanding ruling going against him. Judge Hippler denied delaying the Trial and after this ruling BK plead guilty a week later. I highly suggest reading this pleading

General Discussion All of Bryan’s actions and choices are the result of his inflated yet malnourished ego. He felt he was special and resented a world that did not recognize him as a genius. Ego drives his choices.
Bryan’s behavior was and is, all about his delicate ego.
I think the murders were because his ego was hurt by his embarrassing failure as a criminology student.
I think his failure as criminology student was because he did not feel he was getting the recognition he’s deserved from his faculty, classmates, and the students in the course he taught.
Called out on his misogynistic behavior he felt enraged at women in general and at men that women liked. His lack of social or romantic success hurt his ego.
He felt unsuccessful with women, so he sought to have a position of power over them by teaching a class and giving them low grades. This was to assuage his delicate ego. He wanted academic recognition and to be a feared professor.
He knew his attempt to gain academic power was ruined by his inability to control his egocentric behavior. This hurt his ego and made him furious. I think he largely blamed women for his social failures and now for his academic embarrassment.
He felt he was superior and since people would not acknowledge his greatness, he would prove it by committing terrifying crimes that would stump the criminology world that rejected him and terrify women who also rejected him.
He felt he could get away with it because his inflated ego made him feel he was a superior criminal.
Simple small town police would be powerless and the citizens would be afraid. His ego would be stroked and his crimes would be famous.
He was willing to accept a plea deal because his fragile ego could not withstand the withering scorn he would face as his many mistakes and incompetencies were published in the news each day.
He was not a criminal genius, he was a murderous moron with a bruised ego.
Could his ego gain the recognition he felt he deserved from social success? No.
Could he gain recognition from success in sports or the arts? No.
Could he gain recognition as a scholar? He saw those hopes dashed.
The news comes every night to report the days most sickening crimes. Could he make the news as a killer? Sure. He felt he was a genius. If society would not recognize his greatness it would fear his anger.
But it turns out he is wildly incompetent. He made almost every possible mistake.
did he get seen? Yes. He was likely already out of his bloody coveralls and worried the police were on their way. He panicked and fled, leaving an eyewitness.
was he caught on cameras? Yes. His car is seen and police were soon looking for it. A campus cop as WSU recognized it in a campus parking lot.
Security Cameras on campus showed him leave and return.
did his cell phone provide him an alibi. Was it in his dorm room when the murders happened? No. It was headed towards Moscow ID then it was turned off or placed into airplane mode. Suspicious. Much more so when it suddenly reconnected to cell towers when he pulled into the university dorm parking lot. Either turned back on, or taken out of airplane mode.
did he have a solid alibi? No. He went stargazing on an overcast night. No one could vouch for his whereabouts.
was the murder weapon identified? Yes. The knife sheath was left at the scene identifying the weapon as a KBar military style knife.
could the knife be connected to Bryan? Yes. His DNA was on it in generous quantities. He must have snapped it and unsnapped it while not wearing gloves. He left DNA on the murder weapon at the scene.
could the ownership of the knife be traced? Yes. Bryan purchases exactly such a knife on Amazon using his computer creating a permanent digital link to it and himself.
So his car was quickly identified, he was seen, he left the sheath with his DNA on it, he panicked and ran, he took his phone with him, he purchased the murder weapon online, and his computer recorded the purchase. He handled the sheath without gloves.
This was going to be a very embarrassing trial for this wannabe Moriarty. The small town police dept in Moscow Idaho and the campus cops at WSU made a strong case.
Bryan pled guilty because his delicate ego could not sit at the table while his female lawyer begged for his life and the small town cops sat on the witness stand and testified about the evidence they collected. He may have feared the death penalty, but what he was most afraid of was being fully humiliated, again.
Now that he sits in prison, he can’t stand the thought of being once again totally forgotten. He will make handwritten appeals and squander his families remaining finances because his ego is crushed by his own incompetence.

General Discussion If Kohberger got the trial he wants and were found guilty and sentenced to death, do you think he'd then try to lengthen the time before he was executed by filing the usual numerous appeals, or drop appeals and quickly get executed? Whatever you think, why?
If he got sentenced to death and then start filing appeals like most do so that actually being executed was delayed by 20 years or more, that would show he wants to live, right? But right now he's in a situation where he successfully took a plea deal and is going to live, in theory until the end of his natural life. So why "rock the boat", so to speak, actually seeking a trial?

idahostatesman.com News regarding family support for new trial
I was only slightly surprised to see this today about supporting a new trial. I can’t help but wonder if the Lindsay Clancy case had something to do with the timing of this.
Can Kohberger make a case using an insanity defense? I thought that Idaho didn’t allow that. What about criminal responsibility? Can he potentially receive a new trial based on a defense that he was not responsible due to mental defect?

Information Whitcomb mistakenly reveals the truth about the hair in Ethan’s hand! NSFW
In the recent podcast with “Coming in Hot with Caroline” Christopher Whitcomb reveals the truth about the hair in Ethan’s hand and doesn’t even realize it! Start the video at 36:30. First, she claims actual unredacted photos of the hair in Ethan’s hand were sent to her. If this is true, who sent them? Whoever sent her the photos violated court orders in the Laramie case (Maddie’s mom) so this should definitely be looked into by the court. Whitcomb has made no secret of the fact he has seen all of the unredacted photos, reports and documents…isn’t that also violating court orders if he has seen unreleased and sealed documents? Who is he in this and what right does he have to be given access to those sealed and/or redacted items?
Anyway, in the podcast, Whitcomb is describing in detail the order of photos taken of Ethan’s hand before and during the body removal and what it looks like when the bags are removed at autopsy. He starts to say the hair is actually in Ethan’s closed fist, which is what he and Turvey have always stated or insinuated. Here’s the important part…Whitcomb stops himself and clarifies the “clump of hair” is actually stuck to the bottom, outside of Ethan’s palm and on his forearm…not within his relaxed fist. Whitcomb actually demonstrates with his own hand. This is after telling us that during the body removal, Ethan’s hand falls into the large clump of hair that’s stuck to the bed frame, within a large pool of drying blood, because there is a photo showing it. The clump of hair within the pool of drying blood on the bed frame is seen separately, without Ethan’s hand, in the publicly released crime scene photos. The hair within Ethan’s hand, they have both adamantly stated over and over that needed to be tested because it could possibly belong to the actual killer or a second perpetrator, is not in his hand at all and it is not a clump of hair as both have claimed. It is exactly as forensics has always maintained, a single hair found within debris in Ethan’s hand.
Turvey and Whitcomb have based all their claims on what Turvey says is a clump of hair in Ethan’s hand but in reality, the only hair is stuck to the bottom palm of his hand and forearm. The hair mentioned in the forensic files is a single hair located in what is actually debris in his hand from falling between the mattress and frame where debris is located in almost everyone’s bed.
He goes on to say Turvey personally went to the evidence building, finds the bed frame and locates the remaining hair still stuck to the frame…as though this is some big bombshell. It is obvious to anyone with common sense, who has looked at the publicly released photos of the hair on the bed frame and floor under it, that it absolutely, positively, matches the color and length of the longer hair on top of Ethan’s head. If you look at photos of Ethan in the couple days prior to the murders his hair is very long on the top….straight from the root and wavy at the tips…exactly what we see in the crime scene photos. Even the description Turvey gives could match the longer hair on top of Ethan’s head.
I hate even discussing this but there’s no getting around it. Remember, the ME report states part of Ethan’s scalp was sliced off…assumedly when his head is at some point jammed between the bed frame and wall, where he was found. When Kaylee’s dad is discussing the hair in an interview with BE he tries to delicately say the hair found in both Xana and Maddie’s rooms can literally be pieced back onto the scalps where it was torn from, this is what he means…Ethan and Kaylee. Sy Ray also tried to explain this to everyone by saying when or if the photo of Ethan’s hand is released, Turvey’s career will be ruined.
Turvey and Whitcomb are liars and by doing so, for those who care (and I don’t), they have also given that monster and his family false hope of “damning” evidence being out there that could possibly get him a new trial and even less possible, the charges dropped. This information needs to be shared so all the creators out there who have been spreading this false information, supplied to them by Turvey and Whitcomb to sell books, can now clarified and those two exposed as the money hungry liars they are.

General Discussion mental illness doesn't excuse the crime.
I wanted to make this post because throughout my experience reading into this case, I've noticed a good amount of people justify Bryan Kohberger's reported creepy or inappropriate behavior by pointing to his autism diagnosis.
I've been around autistic people throughout my life and have family members who are autistic, and I think there's an important distinction being lost here. autism can absolutely affect someone's ability to read social cues, understand certain interactions, make eye contact, or recognize when they're coming across differently than they intend. but that doesn't mean every uncomfortable or inappropriate behavior should automatically be attributed to autism, nor does a diagnosis mean other people are obligated to ignore their own discomfort or boundaries. someone can struggle socially and still be expected to respect boundaries.
I think we should be especially careful about using autism as a blanket explanation for Bryan's behavior because it can unintentionally reinforce the stereotype that autistic men are inherently creepy, threatening, or incapable of understanding boundaries. they aren't. and in that same regard, just because one is diagnosed with autism doesn't mean they can't be creepy. they don't cancel each other out. treating every instance of the latter as merely a symptom of autism does a disservice to autistic people as a whole.
I've also seen people bring up Bryan's OCD diagnosis as evidence that he couldn't have committed these murders because someone with contamination/cleaning OCD supposedly couldn't tolerate such a bloody crime. again, I think we're treating diagnoses as though they establish hard limits on what a person is capable of doing. they don't.
Bryan having legitimate contamination related OCD symptoms does not mean he was incapable of coming into contact with blood or bodily fluids under any circumstances. OCD is far more complicated than "this person hates germs, therefore they could never do anything dirty." a diagnosis can help explain why someone routinely wears gloves, compulsively cleans, avoids certain things, or has an extreme reaction to perceived contamination. It cannot tell us that the person is physically or psychologically incapable of ever doing something that conflicts with those compulsions.

General Discussion I let this case rest once his plea deal and came back after the Netflix doc and there seems so many people to be on his side now, I just wanted to discuss why people think this is
I personally get so disgusted and slightly sad by the way I see some people defending him, usually at the cost of the victims (drug slander) or their loved ones (with no indication any of those people would actually do something like this.)
I theorised some reasons in my mind why people may do this but would like to hear other people’s thoughts also:
Monetary gains (TikTok)
Not understanding legal terminology
Too much crime TV
Wanting to be the person who solves it (delusional)
I get being having doubts in a sense but also think it’s known he’s a creep and I also think it speaks volumes (and feel free to correct me if I’m wrong) that not a single person who has known him personally prior has come out to defend him except family. I may be alone in this thought but I feel confident in saying if I was accused of something like this even my most avid haters would scoff at the thought of it

General Discussion What's the deal with the yelling/screaming recorded on the neighbour's camera around 2:25am?
I was just watching a video that shows multiple voices yelling in the area outside King Road a few hours before the murders. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, I definitely think BK did it, I'm just confused as to how they concluded this was unrelated to the murders. I seem to recall a few years ago hearing that there had been some sort of incident on the adjacent street earlier in the night, is that what the video captures?
Edit: Thanks everyone

General Discussion The mystery of the sheath DNA: a quick quiz
Some people, even in comments here, are still confused by the sheath snap DNA thinking it was a small trace amount, or that there is a non-incriminating explanation, or that the data can be invalidated by some non-existent handling or technical issues never raised in 3 years even when DNA evidence was being challenged by defence. A few facts, and then a question:
- A large amount of Kohberger's DNA, single source, was on the sheath. Both defence DNA experts stated the amount in elution was c. 20 x times more than ideal quantity for STR DNA profiling, and can fit body fluids as source. Two external labs confirmed large amount, one expert described it as "tons of DNA".
- Amount of Kohberger's DNA from sheath was more than the amount of DNA recovered from several blood swabs at the scene, and more than typical from directly swabbing a whole hand
- Defence experts ruled out any handling, protocol and technical issues like cross-contamination, lab quality control, validation or similar, citing the ISP DNA lab work as done to high standard.
- Neither of the defence physical evidence/ scene experts (Noedel, Dr. Turvey) nor the 2 defence forensic DNA experts (Dr. Shutler, Dr. Ballard) raised any chain of custody issues for sheath or the DNA extracted from it. The defence never raised any chain of custody issue in any court document or oral argument.
- There has never, ever, of 495 peer reviewed papers, been any scientific study that shows secondary transfer that can fit the sheath DNA (i.e. full STR profile, single source, quantity, non-trivial DNA exchange interval) . Specific activity level probabilistic studies using the sheath DNA specifically, stated such transfer implausible. (e.g. Forensic Science Internal May 2026, Alvia et al)
- Kohberger disavowed the sheath during challenge to IGG evidence, so would have to reverse himself to claim it was lost/ stolen, and those scenarios don't fit the DNA data.
Considering the above facts, the question is:
What is the simplest, most likely way that a large amount of Kohberger's DNA got on a sheath of model he bought before the murders but did not have after, consistent with the data and science?

Legal Is there the possibility of more Incriminating Evidence?
Is it possible that the prosecution has more evidence incriminating BK that hasn’t been released? In the small chance he gets a new trial, could the prosecution drop a bombshell or would they generally have released everything once he took a plea?
r/MoscowMurders • u/Hot-Possession3681 • Aug 19 '26
General Discussion Why do you think Kohberger never publicly explained his motive, even after pleading guilty?
I know we’ll probably never get a definitive answer on what his motive actually was but what I find almost as interesting is that Kohberger has never really tried to explain it himself.
Once he pleaded guilty and avoided a trial, there wasn’t going to be the same public presentation of evidence that might have given us more insight into what was going through his head. But even at sentencing, he chose not to give any real explanation.
Do you think staying silent is about maintaining some sense of control over the case or is there a simpler reason he doesn’t want anyone to know what the motive was?
