Really, I'm writing about the tomtoc (small) electronics organizer.
I acknowledge I'm not like most of y'all. I think I like vertical slings because the increase in surface area against my back helps the bags stay better in place.
But I love the MC because of its chunky strap that, coupled with the wide bag back, distributes weight so well.
I load my bags up a lot. I just can't help myself: it's always about how much of what I always want with me I can squeeze in.
One thing I do not love: junk pockets. Because the MC only has one large interior pocket (and a front outer pocket and a "hidden" back outer pocket), that large interior pocket becomes my junk pocket for everything small-ish. I fill it with:
- 2 usb-c cables and a lightning to usb-a cable (still iPhone 13 Pro...)
- small battery
- wall charger
- fidget toy
- Apple usb-c to hdmi, usb-a, usb-c splitter
- pen
- Apple pencil
- glasses/lens/ipad screen cleaner wipes
Junk pocket
The tomtoc bag is a perfect fit inside the sole inner pocket. Junk drawer controlled! For $20, it's a terrific little organizer all by itself.
Also, my other "trick": a 3d-printed MOLLE panel that nearly perfectly fits that I velcro attach my reading glasses case, my sunglasses case, multitool case, and then two tiny Tom Bihn bags. The main compartment is just a big open space with a separator for an 11" iPad.
While I'm writing about the MC, I agree with other reviewers: the external bottle pocket is almost vestigial. With a mostly full bag, you're not fitting anything into that pocket. The pocket has no stretch at all. As a result, the main pocket eats into the bottle pocket.
