Background: My 8yo son likes to come up with fictional “weapon” designs (just toys), and asks me to build them for him. In the past I’ve made the toys out of wood. We got a 3d printer last year and I taught myself to use it. My son came up and asked me (about 4 months ago) to make him a “driller gun”, and gave me a drawing of what he wanted. So I taught myself how to design things in Blender, and have finally completed the driller gun! There’s a master switch that turns everything on. Then each button turns on a laser sight, a core warming light, then the core instead, and then gives power to the motors. There is speed control and also a trigger to turn on the drill. It was so much work (I’ll probably keep adding tweaks to it, but it was so cool to do all of this.

I was watching Prometheus behind the scenes bonus features and they showed this title card in the segment where they were talking about the difficulty they had when coming up with a name for the movie. I've never seen this before so I thought I'd share it for any other Prometheus-heads out there. Does anyone know if this was this actually drawn by HR Giger or was it just made by an imitator for conceptual purposes?

Did anyone else collect that series?. I remember Bishop looking nothing like the actor, alright, there wasn't a likeness that was really like, 'Yep!, that's Hicks right there', but Bishop, it was almost like Robocop came to the set, jokingly said, 'I am Bishop', and that, unfortunately, is the information Kenner got. Then you got Gary Busey in a casting call for Drake 😄. Anyway anyone else collect that line?.

That's actually not possible. I'm about halfway through, and these events could not have happened. So what's up with this? Was this canon at some point till someone said "that makes no sense" then it wasn't canon, and google hasn't caught up or something?
I'm re-reading Joe Haldeman's Mindbridge, a 1973 sci-fi book that involves, in part, humanity reaching out to the stars via teleportation.
Page 90 ends out chapter 24, which is presented as a public relations segment by the Agency of Extraterrestrial Development, an international organization that uses teleportation to terraform planets for human settlement.
The PR segment, demonstrating the Westinghouse teleportation technology and its "side effects", ends with a familiar line:
"Building Better Worlds"
Joe has been extremely influential on the sci-fi genre. So I'm wondering if the Weyland-Yutani motto was inspired from this book?

Other titles included Alien: Engineers, Alien: Genesis, and Alien: Tomb of the Gods.
The LV-426 logo is really fucking cool. I wish they would use that somewhere. I never realized how weird it would look when written out in Roman numerals.

One of the coolest and most unusual comics in my collection!
Aliens/Predator: The Deadliest of the Species (1993) – Dark Horse Comics.
Written by the legendary Chris Claremont, with artwork by Jackson "Butch" Guice and stunning covers by John Bolton.
This comic has a gorgeous RED FOIL cover, a second cover on the reverse, and two stories that begin from opposite ends of the comic! To top it off, there's a mix of colour and black-and-white artwork.
It's the kind of wonderfully experimental stuff that made collecting comics in the '90s so much fun.
For me, one of the greatest joys of this hobby is discovering unusual editions like this, especially when they feature two of my all-time favourite sci-fi franchises.
Swipe through the pictures to check out both covers and the brilliant interiors!
Has anyone else come across this edition? And what's the most unusual comic in your collection?

I just finished the final sealant coat. Made this for my brother who is a huge Aliens fan. Was a real fun project and watched too many hours of cosplay gun videos on youtube.
It's 1:1 scale, but looks smaller because I am a huge man.hahaha

My kids are losing their minds over this setup. I’m going to add a netting and chains hanging from the ceiling. Also a few more lights. Any other suggestions?! The strobe is actually green.
I ordered this on July 20th and it finally arrived!
I had previously posted about this piece and so badly wanted the 1/1 (which I still do lol, maybe even more so now) but even with modifications to the top and bottom, there was just no way for it to fit in my apartment so I had to go with the 1/2.
It looks incredible! TYPO: REBORN*** studio!

I know that the next movie is going to be an almost direct sequel to covenant following David in some way once again, but Im curious to see what the theming may be. What i mean by this is like, the names of the ships/movies loosely matching the overall story of the characters (Prometheus with the reaching the gods, Romulus with the child/mother messaging) I personally think maybe something relating to the symbol of the Ouroboros would be interesting, maybe david finally being impacted by the work he has done to breed the "perfect organism" but im curious as to what others may think

STL from Makerworls then printed in white PLA on my P2S. Painted it up using Warhammer paints.
Very pleased with how it turned out!

I’ve upgraded my Facehugger with two new servos to simulate a little jump! It already had two servos for the front legs and tail movement, as well as a DC motor for the side legs.
A small jump for a Facehugger, a giant leap for Xenomorphs!
Inspired mostly by the Warriors from AVPR, mostly😁

The hive scene is creepy enough, now, imagine characters you thought were safe are now suddenly gone?. Then you get to know the others, but the initial memory of the characters suddenly dying keeps the suspense going.
