PSA PSA before posting ICE Sightings in Long Beach
In the Army we used a method called "SALUTE Report" to provide a detailed description of opposing forces, which is applicable to ICE sightings. SALUTE is an acronym for SIZE, ACTIVY, LOCATION, UNIFROM, TIME, and EQUIPMENT. Below I will include a summary of what a SALUTE Report entails and the type of information that will be helpful when posting ICE sightings in Long Beach.
SIZE: This component focuses on quantifying the number of individuals, vehicles, or assets present in the observed area.
ACTIVITY: Describing the actions and behavior of the observed entity, the activity component sheds light on the intentions and purpose behind the observed actions.
LOCATION: Providing precise geographical coordinates or a detailed description of the observed target’s location, this component offers the spatial context necessary for effective decision-making.
UNIFORM: Identifying the affiliation or group to which the observed target belongs, the unit component allows intelligence professionals to categorize and contextualize the observed entities.
TIME: Recording the date and time of the observation, the time component adds a temporal dimension to the intelligence gathered.
EQUIPMENT: Listing the equipment, weaponry, or tools associated with the observed entity, the equipment component offers insights into the capabilities and potential threats posed by the target

RANT Tired of Addicts and Homeless in Neighborhood
I live in the Alamitos Beach area of Long Beach, near Black Dog Coffee. This gentleman decided to come onto my porch and dance a little at around 12:30AM on Thursday night / Friday morning. He then decided to move my cute dog witch pumpkin statue from my porch to on top of my fence (at least he didn’t steal it). Pretty sure he played with my hose too (garden hose…) on the front lawn.
I feel like I always see comments about people saying that we shouldn’t police these individuals and it’s better to let them get high and don’t pressure them for treatment; however, am I in the minority in feeling tired of paying taxes and living in neighborhoods where this happens pretty often with what feels like no consequences? Like why are we ok not arresting and requiring treatment for this? I had a few videos of this man and I can tell you from the collection of videos it is clear he was high on something - I’m just tired that my neighborhood keeps having these problems and it seems like no one is doing anything to both prevent and handle the real problem at hand.
Am I in the minority in this?

Community Thank you to the DTLB Alliance for putting more of these things around and keeping them filled.
Sometimes when I walk my dog I realize I’m out of poop bags and I look like a douche bag to people passing by because they think I’m not cleaning up after my dog. But in actuality after I get back upstairs I grab a bag and come back outside to pick it up. Now I won’t have to!

Pets Dog found on 4th and Junipero
No collar. Haven’t been to the vet yet to check for a chip. Seems to be a very young dog, a lot of energy. Very friendly.

Community Safety Alert! E 3rd St area around 11:30am/12pm, guy attempted to SA a worker in an ADU under construction today, stole keys. Anyone catch him on camera?
Today around 11:30am this man entered an ADU under construction on E. 3rd St (the stretch between Alamitos Ave and Cherry Ave) and a construction worker working inside reported that he grabbed her and attempted to sexually assault her. She was able to get outside and get away from him, and a neighbor spotted him arguing with her and stepped in. He said the guy kept claiming he was "going to move in," but engaged in conversation with him and was willing to walk with him off the premises. All of us neighbors only learned afterward what he had attempted to do, then we helped the construction worker call the police.
The worker also reported that the guy took the keys to the unfinished units with him when he left on foot down 3rd St. Police responded within an hour and took statements.
Description: male possibly in his 30’s, 6 ft tall, black, muscular/athletic build, head covered with a blue t-shirt or wrap, had no shirt on, basketball shorts, orange/red socks, white sneakers.
If you have a doorbell or security camera facing E. 3rd St, please check footage from around 11am-12pm. If you saw someone matching this description, (even better if you caught his face) please contact LBPD and don’t approach him!

Discussion ELI5: In simple terms, what going to happen to that neighborhood on the peninsula that is getting washed away?
Does homeowners insurance write the homeowners a check? What about the houses across the street? Does that whole section just get washed away? I cannot imagine anyone wanting to buy any property in that neighborhood ever again, or am I dumb? This cannot be fixed, right?

Promotional Built a free tool to see used cars that fit your real budget, Long Beach feedback?
Last year a friend found a $13k car near Long Beach and the number at the desk was almost $15k after tax, DMV and fees. That got me working on this.
You type the most you can spend total and your ZIP. It shows dealer cars nearby that fit that number with tax and fees counted in.
Free for buyers, no account, no phone number to look.
It only covers LA, Orange, Ventura, Riverside and San Bernardino counties for now. The price is an estimate, not a quote, and the listings are a day or two old, so call before you go. If a price looks wrong on a car you know, tell me which one.

News Long Beach speeds up $11.4M Peninsula dredging after storm damage
Long Beach has moved up an $11.4 million Alamitos Bay dredging and beach-replenishment project after storms damaged the Peninsula's boardwalk and bulkhead. Dredging is expected to start around Oct. 20 and take about three months. The city says the sand will act as a buffer but won't stop waves from carrying sand away.

Questions Recycling plastic beer holders
Hey guys, I have a bunch of these plastic beer holders from years of buying beers from breweries. I feel guilty throwing them aways. Any breweries around long beach or the south bay take them?

News Long Beach's speed cameras are live: warnings until Dec. 7, then $50-$500 fines — what to know
Long Beach's automated speed cameras began issuing warnings Oct. 7, and fines of $50 to $500 start Dec. 7, according to the Long Beach Post. The cameras photograph the rear license plate rather than the driver, and the city says citation information won't go to police. About half of ticket revenue is estimated to cover program costs, with the rest earmarked for neighborhood traffic-calming projects.
