Any other songs/albums similar to the style of Nuages and No Warning?

I’m a big fan of the TOAPP album and was interested in hearing more tunes in a similar fashion of the ambience and Avant garde styles of Nuages and No Warning? Or are these tunes so abstract and unique that nothing else is comparable??

Discussion A few photos I got of Adrian’s rig from the BEAT show at Vibrant Music hall (10/18/26)

I’ll start this off by saying how thoroughly impressed I was with the show. For being a 50% cover band, it absolutely blew my socks off. By far the most talented musicians I have ever seen live.

There were under 1000 people in attendance which was disappointing I’m sure for the band but it definitely made things a lot more personal and connected with the audience. I was lucky to be able to walk up and take pictures right at the front of the stage before showtime.

For any gearheads who haven’t been able to see beat, Adrian played 2 guitars for the entire set (Silver Parker Fly and Twang Bar king for synth guitar stuff) You can see the original 70s echoflanger in the first picture on its own stand, as well as the Roland guitar synth, Digitech whammy, Axe Fx, and JC-120. He played an echoflanger solo in the set using just the self oscillation and was what prompted me to scoop up the signature model before it runs out.

Discussion Not a fan of Modern Crimson

I’ve been a fan of KC for years now. Everything from In the Court to Three of a Perfect Pair I absolutely adore, I’ve got it all on vinyl, consume all I can.
Somehow I never listened to THRAK onwards, mainly because I remember listening to some of the later stuff years ago and not being into it.
So I went back and listened to THRAK, The Construktion of Light, The Power to Believe and the Projekts.
Power To Believe was alright, definitely the best out of the three. THRAK had some good tracks like VROOM but it wasn’t for me. Construktion of Light was near unlistenable for me.

I just feel so out of place because everything I read online about those albums, especially THRAK pose it as KC’s best work, absolutely phenomenal. Yet I simply can’t get with it. I love everything else by the group but this just isn’t for me.
What are your thoughts?

Discussion Looking for albums similar to Discipline

I listened to Discipline as my third KC album and it has by far my favourite instrumentation, the guitar work and drumming is unreal and I want more albums to match that sort of playing. I dont particularly care for the vocal style of a good bit of this album but the instrumentation overshadows all my complaints with the album

To all those who have listened to all of the King Crimson Box Sets, how was it?

Please share your thoughts, guys. Has anyone actually listened to ALL of the contents of ALL of the Box Sets that's been released so far? It's an extremely overwhelming amount of material, but I'm planning to start my deeper dive into the band. I have heard all of their studio albums (Red and ITCOTCK remain to be my faves) and I've been wanting to go deeper into the band's work for a long time. So the Box Sets seem like a pretty good place to start. However, it's such a vast amount of music that it can be quite intimidating just to even approach it. I'd really appreciate it if someone could guide me in my journey through these amazing collections. Fripp & Co. has given us so, so much. We're very, very lucky to have these recordings made available to us at this time in these neat, beautiful, comprehensive packages. What a time to be alive as a Crimson fan!

I've scoured the internet but I can't seem to find reliable, insightful and thorough literature or discussions about the subject. And that's what brings me here.

What particular highlights can you point me to? What do you think is the best Box Set overall? What can you say about the sound quality or the quality of the performances for the live stuff included? Are the remixes preferable over the original mixes for the albums? What other thoughts would you like to share based on your experiences with these sets?

Much gratitude in advance, from one fan to another!

The list of the Box Sets I'm referring to:

  • Larks' Tongues in Aspic (2012) – Covers 1972–1973 recordings, sessions, and live shows.
  • The Road to Red (2013) – Documents the 1974 American tour, studio recordings, Red, and USA.
  • Starless (2014) – Covers 1973–1974 recordings, Starless and Bible Black, and European/American concerts.
  • THRAK BOX (2015) – Focuses on the 1990s double-trio era (THRAK and related live/studio material).
  • On (And Off) The Road (2016) – Covers the 1981–1984 80s quartet era (Discipline, Beat, Three of a Perfect Pair).
  • Sailor's Tales (2017) – Spans 1970–1972 (In the Wake of Poseidon, Lizard, Islands, Earthbound, and live shows).
  • Heaven & Earth (2019) – Covers 1997–2008 (the "ProjeKcts" and The Power to Believe era).
  • The Complete 1969 Recordings (2020) – A 26-disc comprehensive history of the debut album In the Court of the Crimson King and 1968 pre-Crimson/live material.

Would anyone be willing to snag a BEAT tour shirt for me?

We were at the Denver (moved to Parker) show and they were out of the shirt with the band's pics on the back of it in size Large (it was #2 at the merch booth IIRC). I really wanted that thing.

I will cover the cost of the shirt and shipping. Probably throw in a bit extra for your trouble as well.

Anthony Garone is well versed in King Crimson - he's even written a book on failing to play Fracture - so he's an interesting perspective on how the tour is going.

Thrak needs a remix

I have a new setup that upped my audio game: Dali Rubikores, Hegel integrated amp, Denon Sacd player. The whole kit and kaboodle. I’m over 50 and a great audio set up is a lifelong dream that I can now afford.
I was excited to listen to Thrak; I thought it would have a big soundstage, and that it would blow my senses: what a disappointment! It sounds like an old stereo recording. Older KC recordings sound so much better.
Thrak is good on headphones: however for speakers it needs a remix.

Help Albums like In the Court of the Crimson King.

What are some albums like the bands debut? I've been getting into King Crimson & prog rock in general for about 1-2 months now and I just really need something to scratch the itch, if its even possible.

Prog rock albums I've heard:

Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, The Division Bell, In the Court of the Crimson King, Red, In the Wake of Poseidon, Selling England by the Pound & Tarkus.
