Check out my Jaguar! F-Type SVR looking good under the lights
Mechanical Help My V6 F-Type sounds like this at idle.
Sounds like a bag of bolts. This was after a 30min drive so engine was warm. Sounds fine at higher revs….is this normal?

Mechanical Help Bought my first Jaguar, broke down in five miles.
I have been searching for an F-Type for a month or so for the spec I wanted. I found one that I loved about six hours away. Turns out that it was a great bit of luck that it was at an actual Jaguar dealership. It was a 2018 with 36k on the clock with pretty much the exact specs I wanted at a good price. They'd done a good bit of maintenance catchup prior to sale and a couple other things I asked for. Lots of pics and videos later we made a deal. I booked a flight and they picked me up at the airport. Inspect the car and one of the DRL are out and they agree to replace it immediately. I do the paperwork and am on my way. I met my parents next door for dinner so by the time I actually headed out for the six hours trip home the dealer had been closed a couple hours. Five miles down the road smoke starts coming from the hood and then the sweet smell of antifreeze. Took me maybe two minutes to get into a parking lot and the low coolant light came on. I knew those coolant pipes were the weak point but damn, didn't think it would be that quick.
To the dealers credit the salesman answered my text and then showed up within ten minutes when he was off the clock apologizing profusely. I got a hotel and they brought me a loaner Mercedes to drive back home. They are going to repair the car and ship it to me and pick up the loaner, all this on a car I paid low 30's for. It's been super frustrating but the dealer has went above and beyond to make it right so far. I'll find out Monday exactly what the issue was but pretty confident it was a coolant pipe.
Presuming it's the coolant pipe I intend to have them preemptively install a water pump, thermostat and a new supercharger coupler. Anything else I should be looking at doing while it's apart? In the long run this is actually a good thing if I get a sorted cooling system for dirt cheap.

Mechanical Help 2016 Jaguar XF Coolant System Question
Anybody have an idea what this little plastic nipple/connector is for? Should it be connected to something? This is an AJ126 in my XF (3.0 supercharged). I think its leaking a bit of coolant as I am seeing drips in the engine bay around this area. Its located just under the front crossover pipe / around the intake duct area.
Please note that I already have remedied the cooling system by replacing all OEM plastic coolant pipes with metal from Euro amp, so I am not leaking from the pipes. Also note that the front crossover pipe looks like its leaking but its not - it was a poor fit and its JB welded (held for 2 years and its still dry to the touch, I think the JB weld is starting to dye to the color of the coolant).
Any help would be greatly appreciated - tysm!

Buying Advice Looking for F-type Advice
For those that have tuned the base v6 to add more power, did you struggle to put that power down without a limited slip diff?
I'm trying to decide between a one owner higher mileage base v6 with excellent service history and a v6 s with lower mileage but less consistent service, although that may just be carfax not getting all the details.

Buying Advice Jaguar Approved used UK time to buy
I’m looking at picking up an I Pace. I’m not in too much of a rush Dec/Jan would be ideal, would go earlier for right deal.
I’m wondering if anybody has picked up any good incentives around Christmas or new year, and if it’s worth waiting.
I want to pay cash, budget £25-27k, hoping for 2 years warranty with option to pay to extend to 3.
Currently can only get that if pay £400 and get finance which I don’t want.
I think if I can’t find the right deal I’d be tempted to settle for a polestar 2 for around £20k with 2 years warranty built into package.
Currently have Audi Q8 E Tron sportback. It’s fine but I prefer the Jag and it’s had its fair share of problems including an 8 week stay with Audi for coolant repair. Plus to get similar spec to Jag it would be an extra £10k on that budget, or get base spec for similar price.
Insight appreciate, Thanks all.

Mechanical Help Need help finding a part.
We have a 2014 Jaguar XF 3.0 AWD. In the driver side (LH) front suspension, I need to replace the lower rear control arm. The part number printed in the arm is DX23-3C255-AB. I can find replacement arms from Jaguar, Lemforder, Eurostar’s and others. The issue is none of them come with the two ball joints. The large one at the very end connects to the knuckle. The smaller one connects to the swaybar end link. I cannot find the part number for the two ball joints.
I brought the part to Manhattan Jaguar parts department and they were not able to find the part.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mechanical Help Jaguar XK8 AJ26 – spun crankshaft bearing
I have a 1998 Jaguar XK8 with the AJ26 engine, and it looks like I’ve spun a crankshaft or rod bearing. The car is currently at my mechanic’s shop. He doesn’t specialize in Jaguars, but I’ve known him for years. He’s local, has worked on all sorts of unusual projects and isn’t afraid of a challenge.
He’s in favor of rebuilding the engine, which would involve grinding the crankshaft and fitting new bearings. He says he knows a machine shop that specializes in crankshaft grinding and does excellent work. He’s already spoken to them, and they said that machining my crankshaft wouldn’t be a problem. The issue is finding the bearings, as apparently there are no replacement bearings available specifically for my engine.
I’ve also discussed the problem with a Jaguar specialist about 200 km away. They advise against grinding the crankshaft, claiming that the problem tends to come back fairly quickly after this type of repair. They also confirmed that finding the correct bearings is a problem. Apparently, even when they rebuild these engines, they use used crankshafts complete with bearings. The specialist also mentioned that, apart from timing chain issues, spun bearings are among the most common problems with these engines.
Another option would be to buy a used engine, but that’s always a gamble. In fact, I’ve already bought one, and it turned out to be a complete junker. Fortunately, the seller accepted my claim and agreed to take responsibility for it, so at least there’s that. Used engines often come with some kind of warranty, but it’s usually only valid for two weeks to a month. If I have the crankshaft reground, on the other hand, I’d get a warranty on the work itself. So, in theory, if I spun another bearing, I’d have some protection.
What would you do in this situation? Is it really true that the AJ26 crankshaft shouldn’t be reground after this type of failure? Has anyone here had experience with rebuilding one of these engines after a spun bearing?
Also, does anyone know of a source within the EU for replacement bearings for the AJ26?
Any advice or firsthand experience would be greatly appreciated!

Mechanical Help Jaguar XK8 1999 Cooling fan issues
Hello,
I have a 1999 XK8 4 Litre. When on the motorway the fast speed cooling fans always come on and rarely turn off until the car is switched off. They usually don’t come on when just driving around town. The temp gauge stays perfect on the dash and the heaters/aircon work perfectly. After a drive Where the fans come on, the top hose will be hot while the bottom hose cold. Originally I thought it would obviously be a thermostat, but under further investigation, if you remove the fuse for the fans and let the car idle, the bottom hose will get hot just as the top hose will so I do not believe it is a stuck thermostat or poor radiator flow. The water pump works perfectly and the coolant is new and at the correct level, I have also bled it several times. It is almost like the fans come on and overcool it causing the bottom hose to stay cold. I have also checked the hoses after a drive when the fans do not come on and the bottom hose still stays cold. I do not live in an especially hot climate and the fans are starting to get on my nerves now. What is the issue with the car I cannot get my head around it. The fans will only come on When going above 50. I have also used a heat laser gun on different parts of the engine and they are all 95 degrees or below. I don’t believe the engine is actually overheating so I do not understand why the fans come on. And the bottom hose only getting hot When the fan fuse is removed is concerning.

Mechanical Help Power steering went
I have a 1995 VDP x300 4.0 jaguar and recently my power steering started to die slowly. Once in a while it would get all stiff but then go back to normal. Now it's dead completely.
I believe I can hear the pump while im driving and it sounds like it was low on fluid, however I topped it up a little bit this morning and it has done nothing.
Whats odd to me is that it makes essentially no noises or sounds and basically just stopped working all together. Some sources online say it could be the control module, however I'm unsure of that. I'm hoping it's not the pump, is there any way to diagnose it to be sure? What other things or tricks should I try? Another forum post said to drain the old fluid and put new fluid in, Is that somehing I should do?
