Water injection wells
I’m a civil engineering student in Oman, I have done a presentation in my hydrology class about sea water intrusion in the northern coast in Oman ( Al batinah) due to over pumping by farmers. One of the solutions is to obviously reduce pumping.
The other engineering solution is the water injection wells and pushing treaded water to act as a barrier against seawater intrusion, it has been tried in the southern part of Oman ( salalah) since 2003 they put 40 well and the computer module says that it pushed the salty water 1.2km. After the presentation my professor asked if this solution worked in salalah (south of Oman) why can’t we use it in Al batinah ( north of Oman) I wanted to say due to lack of treaded water or even financial difficulties but I know the professor and I know he wanted a scientific explanation so I said the honest thing and said “ I don’t know why but I’m gonna look into it and get back to you” so I tried asking claud after giving it an amazing prompt and resources I couldn’t find an answer for his question.
So does anyone here know why can’t we use this method besides financial difficulties and lack of treated water ?
