Radio Tower/ Tall Building Access?
nodakmesh.orgHi all,
Looking for anyone in Grand Forks that may have knowledge or access to any of the radio towers or tall buildings in our area.
I am hoping to expand the operational capabilities of our local mesh radio networking grids for Meshtastic and MeshCore.
These projects are public communications technologies using open-source LoRa radio software that enable texting from mobile devices, similar to cellular messaging. Operating in the ISM band, they are limited to low-power operation, and highly dependent on line-of-sight between nodes to function cohesively. A few well-placed nodes at high elevation points (like radio towers or tall buildings) would help cover the entire city, allowing for public and private messaging between any connected devices.
If this is something you’re interested in or know anyone that might have access to a high place, please reach out and I’d be happy to answer questions or explain more! There are already active users in town, but any new device helps expand the radio mesh for everyone and makes the grid more robust.
