Since YouTube and generally no big service is capable to create automated subtitles in Esperanto, creating subtitles always have been a struggle for Esperanto content creators. Now things got a little easier.

On windows the antivirus blocks it and in general it is quite slow. A 40 Minute podcast can take around 10-15 minutes to transcribe. I recommend a PC with at least 10 GB of RAM.

It uses a STT model from NVIDIA called nvidia-eo-conformer-transducer-large-onnx that was trained on the Esperanto dataset of the Common Voice Project by Mozilla.

What it does well: roots, affixes, short phrases. What it doesn't do: listening, speaking, lessons. It's for the list you already have, next to lernu, Duolingo or a book.

One honest note: if ĉ, ĝ, ŝ, ŭ or the other letters ever look wrong on a widget, please tell me - that's exactly the feedback I need.

What would you put on it first - roots, affixes, or correlatives?

In my opinion, Esperanto would be a better choice for the EU because it uses words and roots from many European languages, making it more familiar to many Europeans. Unlike English, it doesn't give native speakers of one particular country's language an unfair advantage.

Esperanto was specifically designed to be easy to learn, with regular grammar and very few exceptions. This could make communication between Europeans easier, regardless of their nationality or native language.

Moreover, I believe the EU should have a common language of its own, rather than relying so heavily on English. A shared European language could strengthen our sense of European identity while allowing every country to preserve its own language and culture.

I also believe Esperanto could bring Europeans closer together, especially younger generations. We would be able to shape the language together through slang, abbreviations, new expressions and even the occasional grammatical mistake that becomes part of everyday speech.

Since Esperanto doesn't belong to any particular country, no nation would have exclusive ownership of it. We could make it evolve together, creating a shared European culture across national borders.

But the goal shouldn't be to entirely replace our national languages, but to give Europeans a common language that belongs to everyone.

PS: To those saying "nobody speaks it": every language movement has to start somewhere. Why not start with us? We could be the generation that makes Esperanto a truly shared European language.

For context: I’m Japanese, and I make original lo-fi songs in Esperanto. I found the language through “Lumis Eterne” from ARIA The ORIGINATION — the sound caught me first, and I only worked out what language it was afterwards. That’s what led me to write my own Esperanto vocal songs, and about a year ago I started a YouTube channel for them.

Mi ne estas ligita al "Definer" nek parto de gxi, mi nur tre sxatas gxin kaj volis kunhavigi gxin (kaj auxdi pri pli bonajn ilojn, se vi havas aliajn rekomendojn!)
