Authentic LCMs?

Considering buying these. Seller claims they’re authentic and thinks they’re most likely from the 1980s.

If any folks are able to weigh in on whether they think they’re authentic, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

New Ottoman arrived scratched

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

Hey all! DWR just dropped off our new black-on-black Eames chair and ottoman and (after getting on my hands and knees to inspect it) I came across the following scratch. 🥲

I guess only the outermost veneer layer is black?? I reached out to my local DWR and they’re very on top of things and working on a resolution.

Re: delivery, I almost lost my shit that they unboxed and unwrapped the ottoman and chair at the truck before walking them up our stairs → through the front door → into our living room. Very… unceremonious tbh, which I somewhat expected given the price point and delivery cost, but I guess it’s just another day of delivering furniture for them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

670 Before and After Pics

Recently acquired a first gen lounge chair, that had seen better days. Based on recommendations from this sub, I took it to Studio 670. Could not be happier with the shop - did great work and were great folks to work with. I got the shocks replaced, had the bolt holes that were drilled though the seat shell repaired, and got new down filled cushions to replace the butterscotch colored fake leather replacements that were on it. Struggled with the color choice but I’m happy with it.

about 15 years ago , driving down the road, a man had abunch of office chairs on his lawn with a for sale sign. so we stopped and i picked up my baby here for 25 bucks ( he had two and i didnt know what they were and only bought one, went back 2 hours later and the other one was gone) now questions

so, two things, thisis the only chair ive ever been able to sit in for relaly long periods, i attribute that to what i call the butt hammock effect, since the leather is stretched across the frame with no metal shaft sticking up your butt like 99.9% of office chairs. Ive had numerous back surgeries due to injury and am disabled because of it, now the arms as you can see have had the chrome just worn right off, it seems the only choice i have for that, is i found a replacment pair online, somone casts them, for 400 bucks. or i can buy another chair, ( new is out of the question, im not spending almost 3k or more for a chair. ) i found one i love on ebay through DRM , i made an offer they wanted 1400 plus 300 shipping, and i offered 800 pus the 300 shipping, and they ghosted me instead. that fine, thats thier business.

so im wondering a few things.

  1. Has anyone ever found a way to put maybe an aftermarket padded armrest on these? im just thinking anything that straos on is likely just going to flop over the side since the armrests are too thin.
  2. has anyone found a decent slipcover for the seat and back itself, due to the design its impossible it seeems to get one to fit that is just elastic.
  3. Has anyone ever found a headrest that you can somehow get to stay on?

i know AI tells me these arent chrome, umm i beleive its chrome over aluminum( but i could be wrong) there is a place near me that might be able to refinish these but again, not cheap.

i was looking at an padded blue EA437 on ETSY from a place called BYGONEICONS, by they want 1150 plus 80 shipping, and i set ahardcap at agrand, and i rellay am worried that a used padded one is not going to sit as comfortably.

any help, thoughts, or ideas is appreciated!

Hi folks, can anyone provide any additional insight into what type of oil to use on a rosewood paneled Eames chair? I got a bit of conflicting guidance from Herman Miller and am curious what others would advise. Thank you!

I recently bought seven Vitra EA116 Alu chairs together with three custom tables and two custom flower pots that feature the Vitra aluminium stand for 3500€.

I have multiple questions and i am looking forward to your answers and discussion!

  1. Do you think it was a good deal?

  2. Should i repair the scuff marks in the leather? If yes how?

  3. Is it the normal leather or the premium one? which exact color?

  4. Were the vitra aluminum stands sold like this? I could not find and info about it.

Be Gentle

I've been going to the same thrift store for 20 years, always looking for a lounge. First I found a cheap and obvious knockoff. I kept it until I found a Plycraft that had a tilting base. Comfy and cool in it's own right, but not what I really wanted. Then I saw this. I scooped it up faster than you can say Eames. There are no stickers and its been reupholstered. It still is stuffed with feathers. There are 3 bolts under the armrests. The outer plywood (5 thicker plys plus 2 veneers) is faded and appears walnut while the interior is red like rosewood. Here's the gentle part. I've convinced myself that it's authentic and early. What do you think?

Legit Herman Miller?

This looks legit to me but would love some other opinions… main concerns are 1. The label- I haven’t seen one with ‘due date’ before and the barcode is misaligned with the serial number. Also it doesn’t seem to have ‘made in USA’ going vertically on it. 2. The shape of the armrests look a bit too big/padded. But not sure if this is just the perspective of the photos.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

Authenticating/Date Range?

Thumbnail gallery
9 Upvotes

Hello all! I am looking to purchase an Eames chair in my area and I’ve been talking with the owner of the chair pictured. Everything looks good to me but thought I would get the opinion of the experts on this sub. Seller says it’s the 1978 model and they’re the original owners. The only thing throwing me off is the 5 layered plywood on the shell. Isn’t it supposed to be 7 for 1978?

Looking for Advice

Thumbnail gallery

I inherited what I believe may be a Vitra Eames lounge chair, possibly a Gen 1 or Gen 2. It was owned by my great uncle (collector of classic cars and MCM furniture) for 30 years, and prior to that it was owned by a friend of his in the military. It was moved from Europe, to Maryland to San Diego and eventually ending up in LA. Unfortunately, my uncle and his friend are long passed, so I can't confirm details beyond that.

Indicators of it's authenticity/generation:

-3 bolt holes (2 bolts, 1 missing) attaching the armrest

-Rounded silver cushion clips and snaps

-Down fill

-5 ply

-Nylon push in Vitra feet

-Rubber spacers on back brackets and armresta

There have been a couple people indicating red flags to its authenticity, specifically the lack of label and exposed bolt heads on the sides.

The exposed bolt heads look to be due to a poor repair using female backer bolts. A picture of this is included. In regards to the label, I don't know what happened to it. All I can say is the chair is over 60 years old and has seen a lot of use and travel throughout its life.

I'm not an expert and I don't want to mis-represent anything when I list it for sale. I'd appreciate any insights as to what it may be.

Purchasing Ottoman today - would love your thoughts

Hey everyone

I'm purchasing this today for $600, just wanted to double check your thoughts on legitimacy and my plan. Since I believe this to be real and a good deal, I was planning on buying this Ottoman and then hoping to find a single chair later down the line for cheaper since single items that don't come as a couple (671/670) are harder to find/sell so possibly can get a better price later on.

I think its Gen 3 and legit - What do you think?

Cheers!

Can anyone help me identify this chair/authenticate

Has no sticker besides the California cancer sticker also has no date anywhere I can see. I don't see any visible screws, the cushions are clipped to the hardware and have zippers it appears to be real to me but could use a second opinion.

Thanks

Hey! I would really appreciate feedback on whether this 2016 Eames Lounge and ottoman are real or fake. I checked it using the guide I found on Reddit and everything looks good to me but I’m no expert. Thank you in advance for any help!

Trying to verify real/fake

I found (and acquired) this free because of the “shoddy” repairs. Now just trying to determine if it’s real or not. The leather is butter soft and it’s super comfy, even if not real. The chair seems to be sturdy but do need to replace the rubber disks. There are no sticker, plates or any identifying marks. It’s a keeper for sure but would like to know the brand if it’s a fake. Thanks in advance!
