K80 Parcours 30” - Going to be shooting Compak sporting

Should I have gone with 32” barrels , or should I be satisfied with 30s ?

Most people I’ve seen at nationals have been shooting 32s that’s why I’m asking

My Sweet 3200

I bought this gun from a guy I used to shoot with at a club I was a member of back in 2012, two years later I won the club championship with it. It's a 1982 Remington 3200 that came with a tube set so I can shoot all the gauges. So much fun to use and it's just absolutely gorgeous too.

Some of you may recognize my son from posts throughout the year. He’s really fallen in love with sporting clays, and it’s been pretty cool watching where it’s taken him.
For his birthday, he bought himself a 3D printer, and we’ve spent a lot of time messing around with designs and figuring things out. A couple of local clubs have been nice enough to let him set up a little table at shoots to sell what he’s made.
It’s never really been about making money. For me, it’s about watching him learn how to turn an idea into something, work through challenges, and build the confidence to ask a club if he can set up a table.
More than anything, I’m just thankful for this community. The people we’ve met and the opportunities he’s been given mean a lot. It’s been fun watching him grow through something he genuinely loves.

Options for a cheaper gun?

• Upvotes

I will only be shooting a hanful of times over a handful of years.
Really only when friends come over and want to shoot in a blue moon.
$700 or less is really preferable, I would like to but from a gunshow / flea market if possible or plausible.

Also I want to say THANK YOU soooo much for the support and knowledge you guys gave in my first post!!!
This community is very helpful!

I tried, but i just couldn’t get used to the 30” barrel. It just felt like I was too far in front all the time. Back to 32”. Arrived today. Can’t wait to get it out on the course.

I got bored and had an idle printer so I designed and printed a shell holder with a belt clip. I will be testing the 20 gauge version on Sunday and working on a 12 gauge version right now.

I’m considering buying a Beretta Silver Hawk, price is pretty good I think they are asking $900 seeing as these guns started at $2700 brand new but I wanted to ask does anyone have one? I’m wanting to use this as a field fun, I started to love SxS after buying a Sears/Fox Model D 20GA that I just can’t put down they are just a lot of fun. Anyways was just looking for someone input from the devote faithful. TIA 🍻

Does anyone know of a place in Iowa where you can rent different over unders to test them out? Thinking of purchasing the 688 or the 694 but would really like to test run before spending the money. Thanks!

Beretta 694 DLC vs Rizzini BR240EL

I’m looking to upgrade my shotgun. I currently shoot a Beretta SP1 sporting with 30” barrels in 12ga. I know the 694 is a definite upgrade especially with the steelium pro barrels but I am in love with the look of the rizzini. I know it’s not K or P gun level but I personally want a gun I really enjoy looking at and shooting if I’m going to spend close to 8k on it. However I also want something that’s going to stand up to a lifetime of shooting. With that being said I’m curious to hear what everyone’s thoughts are on the two?

Distance for a field

I am looking at some farm land. I would like to be able to shoot trap at my property. I want to be VERY concious of my neighbors. What is a safe distance to create a field? I know at our club you can't use smaller than 7.5 shot for the distance concern. Anyone have any insight in to this?

Rizzini 460 Opinions

I own a BR 110 Sporting and love it. Love the muzzle heavy balance. Going to move up to the next class of gun.

Does anyone have the BR460 (regular or EL) It’s the next version of Rizzini that I thought was an actual upgrade.

Am I missing any other close competitor guns?

I went to the NSCA tournament and tried out Caesar Guerini Summit and Invictus, Krieghoff K80 Paracours X, and a Kolar. Beretta/Fausti feels too light.

Many of the ones I tried were very balanced at the break, which feels a little weird to me and not as smooth when moving the gun. If I’m gonna drop $10K on a gun, I wanna make sure I’m not overlooking anything.

New shooter, CZ vs. Citori

I'm new to clay shooting, has been just over a year. Mostly trap, occasional sporting clays. Right now I shoot twice a month. In summary, I am very much a casual shooter and don't have the time to shoot more. I use my A300 right now and love that gun. For reasons I can't rationally describe I want an over under. The CZ Teal Target seems like a great deal at Cabela's for $800. Alternatively, the Citori CX is only $2,000 right now for Club members. As someone who doesn't plan to shoot all that much, should I splurge the extra $1,200 and get a browning, or is that silly for someone at my level, would I not be able to tell the difference anyway? Curious to hear thoughts.

Cosmic Trap

My club is going to host Cosmic Trap for the first time next month. We expect almost no one to have done this before. Its just for fun, but breaking more clays obviously makes it more fun. Any tips for first timers from others who have done this before?

Edit: added the flyer in the comments for anyone who might be interested

Port cleaning frequency

There’s a wide variance on the cleaning frequency of the ports on a shotgun. I’ve talked to some people say every 2 boxes but have read articles saying every 1 or 2 cases of shells. How often should the ports be cleaned?

Champion Wheelybird

I just got a champion wheelybird yesterday. It came with 4 boxes of clays for $65. The guy I bought it from dlsaid he just replaced toggle switch, but I didn’t pay it much attention considering the price point.
The 3 way toggle switch is what he replaced. It functions properly in “on” position and “off” position. The problem comes in “release” position, it constantly cocks and fires.
I’ve been looking it up today, but everything I’ve seen has problems with it firing all time even in “off”, it not loading clays, or not firing at all. Nothing shows it only continuously cycling is “release” mode.

Could this be a situation where the previous owner crossed wires? Or the standard problem of limit switch needing to be adjusted?

Which Choke do you use? and is there a "correct" choke or does it not really make a huge difference?

Hello everyone, Still new to shotgun sports in general and have only been shooting for around 6 months. I have my own browning citori that I bought recently used and I love it! Since getting my new shotgun I have been really enjoying sporting clays the most out of any games. And since I am a broke college kid but eventually I want to spend $60-70 each on some nicer chokes in the very near future.

After doing some fun shoots in my area and just talking to people at different clubs I have learned that choke (at least in sporting clays) feels like a preference? Most guys I know of are shooting MOD chokes in both barrels. But I have heard of highest level shooters will exclusively use Full or even extra full chokes. There reasoning is "if you can hit with a full choke you can hit with anything." which I totally understand but wouldn't it just be better for those shooters to use a more "forgiving choke" like a MOD for example during competition? I understand it can change the way the gun feels by changing chokes and stuff like that but what choke should I use for all types of shotgun sports?

Right now I am using what chokes came with my gun which a IC and MOD and its has been fine for sure and it is not like I am doing bad by any means I just like to get better so If you think switching will help with getting me better I am all ears.

Thank you!

TLDR: What chokes do you recommend for sporting clays and all other shotgun sports and why?

Range bag and shell pouch recommendations as a gift

Deciding between a Zoli Z sport or a Beretta DT11. This will be for Sporting Clays 12g. Looking for a reliable shotgun I can shoot a moderate volume of clays well into my later years. I hear plenty about the positives of both but mainly want to know about negatives. If there are common problems and
