Turned a HF 30” tool cart into a detailing cart. Buddy designed the DI tank mount and hose reel mount which turned out amazingly. Might be just in time for 1 more wash before winter 😂

Can’t seem to get these spots off no matter what product I use, anyone know what it could be or how to clean it? The surface is smooth, I’m guessing it’s sap. Car is only 3 years old

Technique baked in tree sap

I was cleaning the exterior of brothers car and it was really bad, it had some caked in tree sap because this car had been sitting for ages. I am 99% sure it was tree sap, I could not get it off. My pre wash was 3 oz road warrior + 1 oz of my soap (rebels of shine cherry bomb), it got mostly everything off but this tree sap was untouched, I then sprayed the prewash on the hood with all the sap and used my wash mitt to agitate, and again nothing changed. I then went and did my contact wash with my soap, then remembered I had 99% alcohol. I diluted 1:1 and sprayed it on, I got some on that weren't baked in as much into the paint but there was still 2-3 that anything I did would not come off.

I don't use an acid wheel cleaner but I heard the speedy brite is really good and you can also use it to remove water spots, can that help with removing this also? if not what do you guys recommend.

Exterior Unsure how to address the glass streaking and buildup

Thumbnail

I've looked at a few things now, and I think the area below the wiper blades is a type of hard water build-up, but I'm not sure. As for the windows, there is a faint and pale vertical streaking that is a lot more apparent than what I can capture on camera. It appears to be both inside and outside of the glass.

Are they both similar issues or two different matters? Both still look this way after a good wash and using one of the glass cleaners I have. Any tips/advice is appreciated!

Exterior Any ideas how to tackle these stains?

These showed up when washing my neighbor’s car. I noticed no protection due to the water behavior early in the wash. I suspect they’re just really bad water spots since they disappear when wet, but I’m nervous to introduce any additional chemicals. Any tips?

For historical context, Buddy attempted ceramic coating on new Lexus and left it on too long. High spots and horrid streaking. Thats the first pic (left side) as I was using a Medium cut compound, yellow Rupes pad, 15mm DA polisher. Second step was 3D One hybrid compound and polish, still a yellow pad, 5k OPM. Finished with Rupes Uno Pure, white pad, 3k OPM. Top coat with Ethos Resist for slickness and additional gloss.

Interior Advice on eliminating smell from mouse infestation?

Just bought a 2005 VW Jetta that was in storage for 5 years. Interior stinks really bad of mice pee/ poop.
There was a nest in the trunk, and also the entire firewall under the plastic scuttle where the wipers are was lodged with the material from the sound deadening mat that was affixed to the underside of the hood, filled with mouse poop and found a dead petrified mouse in there too. Pretty sure I got everything out, but how can I remedy the interior?

Obviously all the seats are coming out and getting washed along with the carpet, but I don’t think that’s going to be enough. Do I order an Ozone machine and run that? I can fix everything mechanical, but I’ve never had to remedy something like this before regarding interior.

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Last week I posted with some nasty stains i came back to after a holiday on my car. Alot of people suggested 3D Bug and tar remover and hand sanitizer. I used that and it worked really well. But after removing all the nasty brown marks, it seems to have some residue/discoloration left under those marks. Am I out out luck or is there a way to clean those. I posted before and after pictures for reference. I also posted on a porduct I already tried with no positive results. Any help will be appreciated.

Check My Work First time doing paint correction and ceramic coat. I think I did it y'all!

Just wanted to thank this sub after months of lurking and being terrified to go beyond just a weekly ONR wash. Finally broke down and got rid of 80 percent of defects and applied car pro quartz 3.0 in my tiny one car garage. Just so much knowledge that goes with these skills and a lot of the answers and advice I found right here from y'all. Car is a 2023 Kia stinger GT-line apex edition ceramic silver no mods. Decided to embark on this journey after I got my door trim replaced by the dealership. I wasn't planning on letting the factory coating degrade and get cloudy again so I had to protect them and said let's do the whole thing!

Exterior How to paint correct when living in an apartment?

, Does anyone have experience with pink correcting cars or living in an apartment with no access to power? I want to do a paint correction on my eight year-old Honda HRV. I plan to do the Decon wash and prep at a coin-op wash in North Philly and then drive down and do the paint correction by my apartment in Philly, but I have no power source. Should I get a cordless DA? Or does anyone here know of anywhere near Philly where I could have access to a power source in order to do the paint correction?

Interested in any and all input, and open to improvising, TIA

Interior Help - stipes on dashboard after cleaning to rough

Thumbnail

Hello all,

I need some help.

I was cleaning my car and my little brother wanted to help out. I went inside for a bit and he went his way on the dashboard, but using to to much force that he damaged the dashboard 'coating' I quess.

Resulting is visible stripes that won't go away, and a surface that feels rougher compared to the rest of the dashboard.

This is on a 2020 hyundai I30N n1 performance if that is relevant.

After a quick search a product called 303 AUTOMOTIVE PROTECTANT looked like something that could help.

But I wanted to make a post here for some more knowledge.

Is this doable with cutting and then polishing?

I have a medium foam pad and using turtle wax cutting compound.

So far I did 8 passes with light pressure.

I’m skeptical how deep these scratches are and if I should continue with more passes. Little nervous to go more as I am fairly new.

Business Question question about wastewater in CA

I'm reading online that you need to have a system to collect your wastewater; otherwise, you can be fined. Has anyone had any info or experience with this? For someone who wants to start doing this.

Exterior Another “how bad is my ppf” post

Thumbnail

I recently took my truck in for ceramic coating and was sold pretty hard on frontal ppf plus the ceramic. Overall it was a $3,000 job and the more I look, the worse the ppf gets. There are multiple spots with debris under the ppf, all of the edges seem to be lifting along with several corners. They also wrapped a part of the bumper with satin black and it’s a total chop job. Coming apart in several areas and they also covered over the sensors (didn’t cut out and do them separately) so I can’t drive without the sensors going off the entire time. This was done a week ago. I have an appointment to take it in on Monday but honestly don’t trust the shop to try and correct it. Do I give them a chance or do I trust my gut and walk away?

I see people talk about deionized (DI) water for detailing.

How about distilled water?

Exterior Is there a way to get wax\polish out of bad clear coat?

Thumbnail

I’ve got two spots on my truck where a body shop did a poor job and the clear coat has faded. I was using some swirl removal polish last night and didn’t think about it sticking into the bad spots, now I’m left with this. It’s a lot more pronounced irl. The rest of the truck has solid 10’ paint given its 20 years old so I’m not expecting or asking for a miracle, I’d just like to clean up my mistake.

I bought a 2024 ioniq 6 and the front bumper is in a pretty bad shape. Dont know what the previous owner did with the car but it looks like he was drifting it daily in gravel.

Can I restore these rock chips?

Thanks.
