Starting as an assistant music editor on a major feature film, need advice.
Hey everyone!
I'm a music producer/composer with some experience working as a music assistant for film composers. I've just been hired as an assistant/apprentice music editor on a major studio feature film, working under an experienced music editor.
While I'm comfortable with DAWs and music production in general, I have very little experience with the actual workflow of music editing for film.
I'm currently brushing up on Pro Tools, but I'd love to hear from experienced music editors or assistants here.
What are the most important technical skills, workflows, or Pro Tools functions I should prioritize learning ASAP? Any common beginner mistakes I should avoid? I'm also curious about software like Matchbox and how it's used in day-to-day work.
Any advice would be massively appreciated. Thanks!
