MODDING What sadist made it so that Templar uses number key 3 instead of 2 for Overwatch?
I will never be able to play Ironman because I instinctively tap 2, 2 when I want one of my soldiers to go into Overwatch. I’m so sick of watching my idiot Templar shoot at the default target instead of doing what I intended.
Am I alone in this? Maybe I should just stop using Templars altogether.
I prefer vanilla over mods, but is there a mod that will protect me from myself?
MODDING Cosmetics for War of the Chosen
Can you recommend any cosmetic mods—like armor sets—that don’t feel out of place in the game? I’ve tried mods based on *Halo*, *Gears of War*, and *Titanfall*, but they felt jarring while playing *Long War of the Chosen*. I’m not sure if I’m explaining this well, but they just didn’t give me the feeling that I was leading a resistance group.

QUESTION New to War of the Chosen
Howdy.
I’ve played X-COM 1 & 2. I am however new to War of the Chosen. Do y’all know of any good guides for newbies? I’ve heard there’s so many new ways to die lol. Thanks in advance!
QUESTION Which covert action do you reccomend? I have 4 engineers, the breakthrough research is 20% GTS tactics cost reduction but I still have to research it. Mag weapons is done and working on +1 dmg. My thought was research, but killing a chosen early also sounds cool. It is June, 2035

QUESTION Does it pay off to keep Skulljacking Advent soldiers at every campaign?
*This is about the basic XCOM2, no DLCs*
So I have gotten the "Skulljack each different type of Advent soldier" achievement on Steam but I am curious as to whether it makes sense to keep doing that at every campaign from now on. Is there any progress that can be made by unlocking new research in trying to skulljacking Advent soldiers in future campaigns?
I am asking because if not, it seems I keep wasting attack opportunities against them by trying to skulljacking which is not guaranteed to succeed and it puts my soldiers into a very unfavorable situation when it fails.

IMAGES First campaign in the bag!
It was on Rookie, given it was my first go at things. I dragged this out for longer than I needed because I was having a lot of fun, but at a certain point I ran out of things to research and was just waiting for missions to appear lol. The Avatar timer pretty much gave up at that point too, so there wasn't actually anything pushing me to the end.
Talking of that final mission - what a massive step up in difficulty. Not because the units are different, but because there were so many of them! I realised too late that the mobs were just going to keep spawning in the final part of the mission too, and that I should have focused all my efforts on the Avatars; I ended up with two Avatars on the field at the same time by the end. I'm amazed nobody died!
Now a question for the veterans of the game - should I start a new campaign at the next difficulty up, or start a WotC campaign? I've heard WotC is quite a step change.

HELP NEEDED! The early game is horribly designed
The insane difficulty in the early game is inexcusable.
It makes even the basic act of playing just not possible because the enemies are far too numerous even on the first few missions, “easy” shouldn’t be “littered with sectoids you can’t kill”

THAT'S XCOM, BABY! Commander difficulty, zero deaths attempt.
The whole playthrough went 'almost' perfect but sadly lost a specialist on the last mission with just the last Avatar remaining.

QUESTION How do you handle the Avatar countdown?
I was looking at some 11 year old advice and about 2 months in I had not built Resistance Comms. I have completed Blacksite mission and skull jacked an officer and killed the codex. If I recall correctly that only knocked off one pip from the count. I have 3 resistance sites on my continent (Africa).
Here is where I'm screwed and not sure even prioritizing Resistance Comms building would have helped. The other Advent sites are far away and would take at least two more sites before I could get to them. That's a TON of intelligence I don't have not to mention the build time and taking away supplies I desperately need to have a fighting chance against aliens.
Does anybody have any Current advice on how to keep the avatar counter from killing me off.
NOTE: After I finished some key research and bought gauss rifle I switched to Commander difficulty and the Avatar bar quickly filled up and started counting down from 14 days. I have no hope unless there is some mission I can perform to reset the counter and buy me some time

THAT'S XCOM, BABY! Did this game get a lot harder or what
I remember playing this game when it came out probably 10 years ago and I don't remember it being this tough. Playing another playthrough on just normal difficulty and I get this forced mission to capture a VIP. It's not even two months into game and it wasn't that tough getting to VIP. But then the most unfair thing happens. One of Valens (sp?) Boss Brutes with about 40 health and 4 armor shows up at the escape point. So I have 5 turns to get to escape pod but this Brute knocks out or one shot kills everyone as they try to make it to the escape.
Now I thought I could try to reduce his health so he leaves but that would take more turns than I have to escape. So I'm screwed. And the whole game is lost unless I can somehow salvage this mission and maybe only lose one soldier. I know I can't knock out the VIP yet because that will just add another pod of 3 enemies. And I know it takes two turns to reach escape pod once I knock out the big dude, if I can do that in 2 or max 3 turns magically
MODDING New to Xcom2 - what mods should I consider?
Hi all!
Hope it's okay to ask, but I'm coming from Midnight Suns and have taken advantage of steam's sale on Xcom 2 and the expansions. I loved several mods for MS, and am curious what mods are popular and you would recommend me to try out for Xcom2?

QUESTION Any tips for ambush missons on L/I (context within)
So I'm just curious what the meta is on these. On legend eventually you're up against Andromedons etc.
I've tried running past everything but that can be very hit or miss.
Sometimes out of a sheer annoyance I've sent a Major Ranger/Templar and they steamroll stuff but that's a hassle.
Is there a consistent strategy?

QUESTION Is Xcom really the only game that lets you pick a country for each member of a squad?
One feature that I really love with Xcom 2 (and which a Star Wars game probably could never provide) is the ability to pick a real life country for each member of the squad. I haven't played Zcom yet (only have a PS4), but I know I will miss this feature a lot, since I love the idea of assembling soldiers from across the (real) world in order to fight a common enemy.
That's why I asked AI if it could find any other game, it didn't even have to be turn-based, where I could create a squad and pick the countries during character creation. And AI was actually not able to find a single one.
Yes, there are other games with characters from different countries in a squad, such as Jagged Alliance, but you are not able to pick the countries yourself.
Many other games let you pick a country for a single character but not a full squad.
But I almost find it hard to believe that Xcom would be the only game with that option. Do you know of any others?
