In 2026, Polish and Japanese scientists jointly develop a quantum computer capable of sending one person into the past. The two countries launch a secret mission to prevent some of the worst atrocities of World War II. The time machine is located in Japan, and the journey is one-way.
They select an elite Polish special forces operative with extraordinary intelligence, nerves of steel, photographic memory and extensive historical knowledge. He speaks Polish, German, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, English and several other languages flawlessly, without an accent.
Combat abilities: He is a master of all major martial arts and virtually every type of historical and modern weapon. His proficiency with firearms, melee weapons, explosives and other military equipment is as high as realistically achievable by a human.
Biological enhancements: His genetically modified body operates at the absolute peak of human biological potential. He possesses the greatest strength, speed, agility, reflexes, endurance, coordination and physical resilience that a human body could realistically achieve. Unlike ordinary athletes, he combines all these attributes without sacrificing one for another.
He never needs to sleep, although intense physical exertion still causes fatigue. His digestive system can extract calories from virtually any organic matter, including leaves, grass and wood. He can function for extended periods without eating, but still needs energy and nutrients to recover from exhaustion or injuries. He can also enter a near-dormant state in which his energy requirements drop almost to zero. He must drink water.
Despite his enhancements, he has no supernatural abilities. He cannot outrun bullets, survive normally fatal injuries or perform feats beyond the physical limits of the human body.
Preparation: Before the mission, he undergoes extensive training and thoroughly studies available historical records, maps, photographs, technical manuals and intelligence reports. Thanks to his photographic memory, he retains everything he has learned.
Equipment: He can bring up to 100 kg (220 lbs), including everything he wears. This may include modern or specially modified weapons, ammunition, explosives, medicine, money, documents and other supplies.
However, the time machine's design makes it impossible to transport electronic devices or equipment containing electronic components. Everything he brings must function without electronics.
Arrival: Japan, January 1, 1938, at a preselected location.
Three objectives, which must be completed in order:
1. Permanently shut down Unit 731.
He must end the Japanese unit's operations and human experimentation in occupied Manchuria.
He may eliminate its leadership, expose evidence of its crimes, destroy its facilities or use any other approach. Killing its commander or publishing evidence alone doesn't count if the unit continues operating.
Deadline: Before March 5, 1940, since he must complete this objective before moving on to Stalin.
2. Kill Joseph Stalin before March 5, 1940.
He must personally bring about Stalin's death before the Soviet decision authorizing the Katyn massacre.
3. Kill Adolf Hitler between June 22 and July 30, 1941.
Hitler must be killed after the historical start of Operation Barbarossa but before Hermann Göring's July 31 directive instructing Reinhard Heydrich to prepare the implementation of the "Final Solution to the Jewish Question."
These dates remain fixed even if the commando's earlier actions change history and Barbarossa never happens.
Bonus objectives:
He receives additional credit for eliminating other individuals directly responsible for war crimes or crimes against humanity.
Rules:
- The objectives must be completed in the specified order.
- No return trip, reinforcements or resupply from the future.
- He can acquire equipment, money and assistance from people in the past.
- Nobody in the past may discover that time travel occurred. They may suspect he's a spy or assassin, but never a time traveler.
- He cannot kill Polish civilians or civilians from other countries outside the Axis powers and USSR, including those living under occupation.
- Intentional or collateral civilian casualties among citizens of Axis countries and the USSR are permitted under the scenario's rules.
- History changes naturally after his actions, potentially making his knowledge of future events less reliable.
