Reminder: No 'Low Effort' Posts, Please
Hello everyone. First of all, thanks to all of you for making this sub what it is today. This community literally IS the subreddit and how we go about not just identifying locations but also interacting with each other here is a reflection of that. For a community of this size, the mods honestly have very little 'crowd control' to worry about in the comments.
I do want to bring to everyone's attention to a recent change in the subreddit rules. We've been seeing a big increase in what we're calling 'low-effort' posts - basically just a picture and a subject line with very little information provided about the image. In some cases, the location is pretty obvious or could be determined with a simple google search. These posts don't really add anything to the community, so Rule #1 now covers Low-Effort Posts as described.
Thanks again, all. Hope this updates helps keep our subreddit full of high quality content for everyone.

Very difficult to impossible?
This is a blurred copy of a photo seen in the final shot of Kubrick's The Shining. I am working on identifying the 21 photos shown. See here for more. I can't supply a better copy as the SK Archive don't allow it. https://www.reddit.com/r/StanleyKubrick/comments/1p8tkwk/successful_identification_of_the_other/
This location is presumably associated with Warner Bros. (the source of the photos.) It isn't obvious that anyone in the photo is a movie star, though the woman in the centre may be. The man at the end of table may be a Warners producer or perhaps even Harry Warner. The setting doesn't look like a studio dining room or a restaurant, it looks more like a home. It's odd that there are unused table settings down one side of the table. The object to the left may be a person's shoulder.
Any thoughts or clues, gladly received.

adobe stock photo of route 66 - unsure if real location
I wish I had more information but the adobe stock page this is from doesn't give any clues and my friends have exhausted our knowledge of maps to try and figure out where this is, assuming it isn't fabricated.

Solved Anyone know where this is?
I found an old negative, my mother and her sister with their mum, my grandmother. I’m guessing my grandad took the picture. They lived in Whitstable for a bit, then Bournemouth — Bournemouth seems a more likely location for this photo. I know it’s not much to go on.

Searching for EXACT spot of family still image Manhattan Skyline 1968-1970
Hey y’all! Hope you’re all doing well!
I’m making a documentary about searching for my roots, and I’m trying to identify the exact location where this photograph was taken so I can return to the same spot and film it from the same perspective.
I know this is a hard one, the skyline is so foggy but I though I should give it a try anyway.
Here’s what I know so far:
-The photograph was taken sometime between 1968 and 1970.
-Possible locations I’ve considered include a view from the Staten Island Ferry near The Battery, Morton Street Pier, the Lower Manhattan skyline from Governors Island, or a viewpoint from Staten Island or New Jersey.
-I’ve searched the New York Public Library’s digital archives, but I haven’t been able to find a photograph matching both the date and the location.
Any historical references, archival resources, research tools, or suggestions that could help me narrow down the location would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much for your help!

A mystery of pictures.
My father took these pictures sometime in the early fifties. Unfortunately he passed in ‘06 and I came into possession of his slides without his context. He was in the navy when these were taken but I can’t pin down the exact channel. AI seems to think it’s either Chatham straight, Stephen’s passage or the BC channel. Can anyone identify the channel. I can only imagine how much it’s changed in seventy plus years.

Rabbit Hole
Trying to figure out where this photo was taken. My clues are the potential bridge, the industrial building, and the awning. Does it say Svares?

Provence 1975
