How the heck do you measure pasta? Everything I see measures pasta when it is dry! Do you just cook yours separately from the families or is there another reliable way to measure it?

Tips and Tricks El Pollo Loco $5 Bowl

If you happen to have an El Pollo Loco restaurant nearby, they have a great option. Their Origjnal Pollo Bowl is about $5.00 and has 9 points, 41 grams of protein, and 9 grams of fiber. It's a bowl made with their roasted chicken, with beans, rice, cilantro, and salsa.

The menu shows the combo for $6.99 that includes chips & a drink, but you can ask for just the bowl and a cup of water. Mine today was $4.92!

Sometimes you just want to eat out, and it doesn't always have to destroy your points, or your wallet!

General Advice I fell off plan hard, need encouragement

Y’all, I am soooo mad at myself. I joined a year ago, slowly dropped 15 lbs after MONTHS of tracking, fell off in April and now I’ve gained it all back and then some. I’ve decided that enough is enough and am recommitting to getting back on track today. I have about 80lbs to lose. Any tips or motivation you could share would be much appreciated because right now all I can hear is the negative self talk telling me how bad I screwed up. 🫠

General Advice Question ZeroPoint Food

Hi :) I'm new to Weight Watchers and have a question about zero-calorie foods: They do contain calories, right? If I eat a lot of them throughout the day and have a lot of points left over, wouldn't it be that my calorie deficit is actually gone? I hope that makes sense 🥲 Thanks for your help!

General Advice Glp1

A couple of questions. I'm looking to use a glp1 to loose weight. I've come to the point in my life where I know my diet won't be perfect, and my knees hurt to bad to do any meaningful exercise, that I need help. Would love to get it approved by insurance, outside of being over weight with high BP, I'm almost sure I won't get approved since I lack the qualifying conditions.

What is the cost if you don't go through insurance? How long is the contract period, and how easy is it to cancel after the contract period or does it automatically renew. If you get your meds from another company who do you use and cost?

Anyone have a referral code?

It’s been years since I last used WW and now that I’m getting married in February, I need to get back into it! Does anyone have a referral code or link that I can use to sign up?

I’m in the US if that helps. Thanks in advance!

App/Tech Is tracking easier now on the app? Are they making use of AI?

I was on WW a few years ago and really liked the program, but I found tracking to be cumbersome. I don’t buy a lot of processed foods, and make a lot of things at home from scratch, and I love variety and tend to not really repeat dishes a lot, so I felt like I was constantly building recipes (which didn’t always work well in the app) or tracking individual ingredients I was using. Plus, I would constantly find duplicates in the food searches with different values!

I’d like to rejoin the program, but I’m wondering if they’ve made any changes to make tracking easier. Ideally I’d love to be able to just snap a picture of my dish and let AI figure out and track what’s in it!

QuikTrak System booklets question

Hi, I just found 49 of these booklets and saw that people have listings for them on eBay. Is there a genuine interest for people on Weight Watchers to buy these? These booklets have a coupon in the back that expired in 2008 haha

General Advice Many people's extreme choices is the reason for failure of long term success

This is long but I hope it's helpful

Lost 32 lbs in 1989. Never gained back more than five. Currently three below my goal. Was a "Leader" back in the day for 14 years.

I'm not even going to comment on GLP-1s and long-term success because I don't think there's enough information yet.

But here's some things to consider after reading lots of posts on this sub:

Stop giving up things. And stop calling foods bad!!!!! For example I'm a dessert guy. I refused to give up dessert from day one. But I replaced lots of my desserts with different things. For instance I realized I didn't want a bowl of ice cream I wanted a bowl of dessert. So 1/2 cup of ice cream with a can of Mandarin oranges filled the bowl. Somebody had shared a recipe back then where you take a chocolate graham cracker split it into two squares put some frozen Cool Whip and make little ice cream sandwiches. Freeze them and boom! Tasted good and was a better choice.

Don't get me wrong I still eat cookies and cheesecake but 30-something years later I still use examples like these to keep me out of trouble. But I don't consider them keeping me out of trouble because I enjoy them.

Invest in some good kitchen tools. I have a blender that also cooks soup. I make a pot of vegetable soup or chickpea corn soup or similar every week . You drop all the ingredients in and 20 minutes later I've got soup. Healthy, delicious, soup. My rice cooker and a slow cooker work constantly.

Stop saying you were bad and stop making up bullshit excuses when you know you weren't exactly making the best choices during the week. You didn't gain two pounds because you had one cookie. Time to be honest. Go buy your $7 coffee drink but stop complaining about the price of good produce.

Fat free cheese is not a food. Fat free yogurt is disgusting. Overnight cold oatmeal is the bomb! I went vegan for a year a while back and vegan sloppy joes are dinner at least 2 or 3 times a month. Chowing down on 0 point Foods because they are 0 points is just plain stupidity. Eating a bag of carrots is probably going to take you to a bag of potato chips eventually. Celery sucks.

Stop ordering steamed this and grilled that when you go out to dinner when that's not what you really want.

I love pizza. I used to eat a half a pizza with my friend. Half a large pizza. Then I changed it up... Every Wednesday night we used to get together order a small pizza and a huge salad. And watch South Park. In my mind I was still eating half a pizza even though it was a small pizza. Stop buying shit in big sizes because it's on sale. That's why you're a big size!

Exercise. I realized that exercise for me was only going to work if it involved being outside and with other people. I'm not getting up at 4 in the morning to do a video. I'm not going for a walk. I have no interest in stepping into a gym. I took up cycling in the early 1990s. These days I cycle about 150 miles a week.

I guess what I'm really saying is have an honest conversation with yourself and come up with what you're willing to give up, what you're not willing to give up, and what this really needs to look like for true long term success. And if that means you're only going to lose a pound a week or less so be it. Because I stopped counting the number of people who took off 50 60 70 100 lbs only to put it all back on because they went so extreme to lose the weight it was not sustainable.

Rant over.

Accurate log for kent pumpkin with skin on

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I log pumpkin using the green-tick "Kent Pumpkin" entry in MFP. I weigh it raw with the skin on, then roast it and eat the whole thing, skin included.

Is the verified entry likely based on peeled flesh only, or whole pumpkin with skin?

If it's flesh only, does the skin have a meaningfully different calorie content, or is it close enough not to matter?

Recipes Ideas for low carb (preferably no/little meat) meals please?

Hello! Hoping for some help because I'm kinda running out of ideas here.

My mom does WW with me but is struggling to get near her goal. Our coach sat her down and looked through her tracking after meeting this week, and our coach has said that she eats a very carb heavy diet. I agree with this. Mom absolutely loathes cooking - anything more than heating prepared stuff in the oven basically isn't happening - and isn't really a big meat eater, although she does eat chicken, turkey and fish.

I think I posted about her having this problem in this sub about a year ago lol, well a year later we are still having the same issue and she is drifting further and further from goal :( She has been very supportive to keep coming to meetings with me the past couple years whilst I have been on my journey, and I want to support her. I scratch cook and meal prep all the time anyway - I have a young family and a budget - so I'm looking to help her out by preparing some options that are low carb/avoid carbs, low points, preferably high protein as our coach wants her protein intake brought up and I think more protein and less white carbs would make her feel fuller on her points allowance.

Our coach has told her to "only eat carbs once a day" - I would think that a *little* bit of carbs (like a side of brown rice or a wholemeal pitta) would be ok with a main meal though? Figuring out lunch and dinner with no carbs on the side/in the dish at all is a bit tricky and it's what I'm struggling with most. (Her "once a day" is taken up by her white toast in the morning, which she absolutely will not switch out for anything else. Which is her choice and I respect that. But trying to use no carbs/carby things at all for the other two meals is.... tough, planning wise.)

I've got a couple of recipes I'm going to batch cook and freeze for her - I've got a failsafe veg/bean chilli that's all Zero Point foods and plenty fibre. I can also do a vegetable soup she likes.

Hoping you all have some ideas or recipes you could point me to? I'm used to batch cooking for my family, but a) they are obviously not on WW and b) they all eat meat, so the things I'd make for a bunch of growing meat eating kids are not the staples I can fall back on for an older lady on WW who wants to avoid carbs and eat little to no meat >.<

I think if I could even help her out with 2 to 3 meals a week that she can defrost and reheat, she'd get better results and tbh better nutrition. Grateful for anything you all can chuck my way <3

Back but frustrated

I used to do the PointsPlus program a while back and the system is completely different now. I'm not sure I'll be able to adjust honestly. What I liked about the old system was that it let you eat what you wanted and be satisfied enough to lose weight. But it feels like a lot of foods I eat are being penalized dramatically for saturated fat and refined sugars that didn't used to be a lot of points under the old system. Due to chronic illness I can't even make up the overages with activity points. It works as a tracker for me but I really miss the older program, and hope that WW will eventually value moderation again.

What exercise advice sounds good but doesn't actually improve your results?

Fitness advice changes constantly, and sometimes it's difficult to separate useful information from things that simply sound convincing.

Some recommendations become popular because they are simple or impressive, but they don't always lead to better results.

For example, people may focus heavily on small details while ignoring fundamentals like progressive overload, consistency, and recovery.

I'm curious what advice people followed in the past that turned out to be less useful than expected.

Was it a specific exercise method, training rule, or nutrition idea?

And what did you replace it with once you understood what actually worked better?

Snacks Zero Sugar Starbucks Doubleshots

OK they aren't really snacks but no other flair really fit.

You guys these are shockingly good. Two points for the whole can.

Vanilla is good, I will not turn one down. Dark chocolate is delicious and my husband and I are entirely hooked. Probably gonna add them to our subscribe and save on Amazon.

Protein but uses up a lot of points and calories - how to do hi protein w low points and cals?

My cals are supposed to be 1200-1300 per the app. Really hard to find fat free anything but low fat still has points and calories. Trying to get 5 more off before December and as a petite in perimenopause it is rough.

I made a free app that scores grocery items for protein/fiber/sugar alcohols. Looking for people to tell me what it gets wrong.

Tips and Tricks I quit WW

It just wasnt working for me. I lost 15 lbs then plateaued for 8 months and now gained that back. I want to lose 90. So it was frustrating. Now I'm just trying to watch what I eat. But I dont have the app to track anymore. Does any one use an app other than the WW one to track? I downloaded my fitness pal. But wonder if there are better options. Thanks

General Advice Overeating/sweets

How do you stop yourself from overeating? Once I start eating sweets, I can’t stop. But if I deprived myself a minute, I end up overeating. And then I end up going into -100 weeklies or something like that and then I just wanna quit.

Back to it!

I stopped doing WW for a while after losing 40lbs. I was able to maintain it for quite a while but find that I am gaining again so I am hopping back on to lose more of the weight I wanted to lose (I have about another 100 before I hit a healthy for my height weight). So I am sitting here trying to do some meal/menu planning. What are some of your favorite websites for points friendly meals? I already utilize skinnytaste a lot.
