Mod Update Reminder: READ THE RULES

Insert some rambling mess that is my quarterly screeching about reading community guidelines. I'm tired. I don't feel like writing or being polite today.

"guess the dress" or post wedding "which would you have picked for me" posts are not allowed and brides doing so will be permanently banned. Likewise if you have a favorite you need to disclose.

all recommendation posts need to have the basics like budget, wedding month and year and country of residence listed. Girl I don't care if you are getting married in Italy. We need to know which country you live in because tariffs are a tire fire still.

no model photos if you're asking for styling recs or dress picks. Sorry but that's been a rule for a while.

if your comment goes "I'm sorry but" and it's some sort of creative analogy, think twice before you hit post. I've gone from 30 day bans to straight permanent bans because read rules and the room.

Mod Update Bridal pros: what do you want brides to know before they get to you?

Here is your chance. All of the comments will be archived into a wiki page. Alterations specialists, stylists, day of coordinating, spill the beans.

What do you wants the bride's to know before they even buy a dress or even start thinking of getting a dress? What questions are you sick and tired of answering because of blatant misinformation that goes around? What are some behaviors you really wish would stop?

If you would prefer to drop the info anonymously, feel free and send a modmail to us and go "for the bride's" in the subject line so we can keep an eye out.

I just adore my dress! Unlike anything I thought I would pick but fell in love the moment I tried it on . . a superfine wool blend crepe that drapes like a dream. The “Juliet” cap belonged to my mother from the 1970’s

Just need some hype! 5mos out and having doubts about my choice.. am I overthinking it???

When my stylist brought this out on the hanger my MOH and I both audibly gasped, and I feel like I loved it immediately as soon as I saw it on. But now that I’ve committed to it, I keep seeing ads for different styles/designers that I also adore and I can’t help but shake the feeling I decided too hastily. What do you think??

Edit: THANK YOU GUYS SO, SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND WORDS!! You have really helped me to renew the excitement I first had when I initially tried it on. Very excited to move forward with this dress and I’ll try to ignore the ads from here on out 😅 thank you again!!!

Went into the follow-up fitting expecting to choose dress 1, when dress 2 was presented to me Wedding date is June 2027. I absolutely love both of these and haven’t had a ton of success/support in my journey so far. (Dress 2 has off the shoulder/detachable sleeves option). PLEASE help, I am looking for any input, pros, cons, of both of these options. All feedback is welcome!

Do you all like this dress? It’s so opposite of anything I would have picked, but when I put it on it just made sense. I want timeless, classic, and elegant. Did I do it?

I posted on this sub a HOT minute ago when I first bought the dress. I just wanted to share the final look. It held up great, we had so much fun. 10/10 one of the best days of my life. Id post more of the in action ones during the wedding but the hubs doesn’t like online presence for himself so I only picked ones that were me or that blocked his face 🥰 thank you guys for your input before the wedding it really was such a special day.

Just picked up my dress Shapewear advice? Time crunch

I am getting married next week and just picked up the final form of my dress yesterday… my seamstress took a video explaining bustle instructions for later which I thought was helpful. I watched the video and noticed that my shapewear is visible from the back. I never considered this would be a problem and am surprised to have just noticed it now.
I purchased from Bella Shapewear awhile back after stumbling upon a very useful Reddit review of different shapewear’s for low back wedding dresses.
Now I am trying to search for an alternative option last minute. I would love to just cut a little dip in the back of the shapewear but am worried it will lose the structure. I really love the compression it provides as is. Any advice for this? Anyone on team “leave it be/let it show”? I know it looks pretty subtle from the pictures but now I’m having a hard time unseeing it.
I also have another idea of using some of the leftover appliqués and glueing them in the trouble spots. Just worried it might take a bit away from the beautiful v- dip.
Then there’s the thought of maybe asking the seamstress for some last minute help?
Let me know y’all’s thoughts. TIA!!!

Dress shopping: Only looking for designer recommendations Need Recommendations for whimsical/ non traditional dress shops (Please help!!)

LOCATION: DMV area (DC, MD, VA) but open to PA and NY because I am desperate.
Budget: under 5k but flexible

I have been having the worst time finding anyone that carries a dress I am looking for remotely.
I have been relentlessly searching places I can go try dresses on I am looking for. I am a non traditional bride. All white/ off white is a no go and I am really looking for colorful floral type dresses.
Every place I’ve called, does not have anything I am looking for and only have all white dresses and maybe 1 or 2 colored options but again, not the vibe that they have (most places have all black, red, etc)

For context in our wedding, we are getting married 5-16- 2027. Our wedding is outdoor/ woods/ nature type of feel, and we are going for a “whimsical, forest fairy, mushroomy type vibe). My fiancé and I got engaged in the middle of a mosh pit in the woods and met 10 yrs ago when we were 18-19 right next to the place we are getting married.

I am aware of the designers flora lane, Claire pettibone, rue de stein (had my dream dress but no where has it). All I want is to be able to try on dresses that fit my ascetic within a 4-5 hour radius and I’m in tears trying to find anywhere that has anything that fits what I want.

Ik I might seem picky, but I have had this dress vision forever, and I just truly want to find a place that even has options to as close to the boho/colorful, whimsical feel I am looking for.

If anyone has any suggestions of stores within a 4-5 hour radius of Washington DC that might carry anything that resembles this aesthetic, please let me know!

Our wedding colors are sage green and lavender, and basically I just want something not poofy, slimmer fit, with colorful floral embellishment. I appreciate anyone’s input/suggestions ❤️ photos added for inspo!

Dress shopping: Only looking for designer recommendations Help finding a combo of these styles please!

I’m absolutely in-love with these dresses, but something is missing… My dream dress is a basque-waist ballgown with that drop down the center (pics 2 and 3), and I’d love some pops of color like in the 1st pic.

Luckily my wedding isn’t until October 2027, but I really want to knock it out now. I live in the Denver metro, and my budget is about $3k, though I’m willing to spend more if the dress I’m looking for is above.

I’m going to another shop tomorrow, and the Alvarez by Maggie Sotero is already on my list. Any more recs are welcome and appreciated!

Ceremony photos I kept second guessing my dress, but trust in your decision - you did it right!

I almost had to unsubscribe from here at a point because I was having such severe dress regret and fear and couldn’t take seeing any more dresses. I kept worrying I picked “too simple” (no floral/etc on it). Anyway, we got married on Saturday, and idk what my problem was because it was the dress of my dreams just like I thought when I first said yes. This is your sign to believe in your choice and have a beautiful wedding! Congrats brides to be! It’s stressful out there overthinking everything. 🤪

Style me! (sleeves, veils, shoes and accessories only) Picked Up Dress, Now What Veil???

Picked up my dress over the weekend, alterations are in January, and wedding is in April.

Unsure of what I could do for veil options, slides 3-5 are veils I tried on during my initial appointment. Should I just do simple + glitter? Would it be okay or too much to have embroidery? Length?? All of these things for feedback on styling are welcome.

DRESS ONLY: Pick one or suggest another Cottage wedding venue, hoping this dress will match the vibe

I have always loved boho style dresses, and I'm also very anti-tradition in general (but especially when it comes to weddings). This dress is so beautiful and I love it so so much. My wedding will be in September of next year so I just don't want to jump the gun too much. I'm also afraid of it not being "bridal" enough (even though I don't really care about that) and also there's not a ton of structure in the bodice so I'm not sure if boning would be able to be added after the fact (if it even needs it, I'm not sure)

For context: my wedding venue is a cottage inn by the lake, and it'll be a whole weekend getaway (2 night stay for all guests). My fiance and I want it to be a very relaxed vibe, it's not going to be super formal at all, and I feel like this dress would potentially go with that kind of feeling. However I am also diagnosed ADHD and struggle heavily with impulsive decisions so I'm just hoping that's not involved in how I feel right now :') thanks for any feedback!

I walked in expecting I would like a simple and classy Mikado mermaid, but when I put on this dress, everything changed! It's a blush color with sparkly appliques, and I absolutely love it. I'm going to add buttons along the back, but I'm leaving everything else the same! I'm getting married at a beachside venue, and this dress has the perfect romantic touch.

And I’m sad because I feel like my bust didn’t fit the dress. I loved it in alterations, but I was so nervous because I’m very busty and I’ve always had difficulty finding things that fit. On my wedding day, I tried taping, but it just wasn’t working.

Anyways, I think the photos still came out good. But I can’t help but feel a little insecure when looking at these. The dress was beautiful, I just wish I could’ve gotten a reduction before the wedding

Dress shopping: Only looking for designer recommendations Dress Shopping At Kleinfeld/other NYC shops… but knowing I will likely say no?

I have mostly fallen in love with a gown online, but I want the Kleinfeld/NYC experience.. especially since I’ve lost a lot of weight between my elopement and my upcoming vow renewal. I’m not saying I will definitely walk away without saying yes to a dress at these three shops, but based on experience.. should I feel guilty or be worried about walking in just to browse?

Bridal Reflections

EDIT TO CLARIFY: I completely understand that bridal consultants work incredibly hard and often rely on commission, and I absolutely respect that! However, I am paying for these appointments, and I’m genuinely open to purchasing a gown if I find something I fall in love with. While I’ve found a dress online that I’m very interested in, that doesn’t mean my decision is made. I specifically chose these boutiques because I love their designers and would absolutely consider purchasing from them. I just don’t want to feel obligated to make a purchase simply because I’ve booked an appointment. I’m going into this with an open mind, but I also want to enjoy the bridal shopping experience without the pressure of feeling like I’m wasting someone’s time if I don’t end up saying yes.

My coworker who is also engaged found this online shop and they have some really beautiful dresses. I’m just curious if anyone has any experience with this shop. Thanks in advance.
