Xbox Game Pass Worth It?

Game Pass can be fantastic if you're constantly trying new games, but I wonder how many people are actually getting their money's worth every month.

Sometimes I subscribe, browse through the library for ages, and end up playing the same game I was already playing.

The value also depends on which games you want and whether you care about owning anything permanently.

Do you think Game Pass is essential for Xbox, or would you rather go back to buying games individually?

Discussion LFG Friday Clarifications

Hi folks. Just wanted to clarify somethings about LFG Friday:

-LFG Friday is a whole weekend event. Comment on the post if you have questions, need help just in the comments on Reddit or if you want in game assistance or simply to hang out. LFG is being used as a broad term here. Even if you could care less about participating yourself keep an eye out for this post on Fridays and look to see if someone is asking for anything. You might be able to assist someone in some way. Be the change ya know lol.

-it only works if we want it to. The interest post I made seemed to garner some attention but it only works if we want it to. It’s early on in this subs existence and week 1 understandably and likely won’t be a huge success but let’s make an effort. As we get more folks in the sub it’ll help with attendance too I’m sure. A’s will be metaphorically given for effort!

-On Monday there will be another post I’d like to get some good engagement on regarding this event. So please keep an eye out for that.

Thanks!

Discussion Open Worlditis?

Does anyone else sometimes wish more games would just give us a focused 10–15 hour experience instead of a massive map that takes 80 hours to finish?

I enjoy open-world games when the world actually feels interesting, but sometimes the extra content just feels like padding.

I'd rather finish a great game and want more than spend another 20 hours clearing repetitive side activities just to see the ending.

Would you rather have one massive game or a shorter game with better pacing?

Discussion AI In Gaming

I'm genuinely curious where people stand on AI in game development now.

If a studio released a genuinely great game, but later revealed that some of its artwork, dialogue, music, or other assets were AI-generated, would that change how you felt about it?

I can understand the arguments on both sides. Developers are always looking for ways to save time and money, but there are also legitimate concerns about artists losing opportunities and studios using AI as an excuse to cut corners.

Personally, I think there's a difference between using AI as a tool and replacing creative workers just to increase profits, but I'm not sure where everyone draws that line.

Would AI use be a dealbreaker for you, or does the quality of the finished game matter more?

Gaming is getting ridiculously expensive?

Buying a game used to feel like a pretty straightforward transaction. You paid for the game, played it, and that was it.

Now we've got increasingly expensive editions, season passes, cosmetic shops, battle passes, subscriptions, and DLC that sometimes feels like it should have been included in the original release.

Obviously, developers need to make money, and not every game follows this trend. But when you add everything together, keeping up with a single game or franchise can get surprisingly expensive.

What's frustrating is that a $70 base game doesn't necessarily mean you're getting the complete experience anymore.

Have gaming companies pushed monetization too far, or are players partly responsible for this by continuing to spend money on these things?

Discussion What’s on your wishlist?

I’m not one to really use wishlist on steam or Xbox or whatever but there’s some solid stuff coming out towards the end of the year and into 2027. What’s are some titles you’re looking forward too?

Anyone who knows me knows I came late to the Mass Effect bandwagon so when I saw the trailer for Bioware’s Exodus I got a little giddy not gonna lie.

Discussion Local VS Online?

I've been thinking about this lately. Local game shops can be great places to find older games, meet other players, and discover stuff you probably wouldn't look for online.

But at the same time, it's hard to ignore the price differences sometimes. If you can get the same game cheaper online, how much extra are you realistically willing to pay to support a local business?

Personally, I think the community side of things matters, but I'm curious where everyone else draws the line.

Would you rather pay a little more locally, or is price the deciding factor every time?

Discussion Destiny 2 Players

Anyone playing Destiny 2? I never played it when it was even more main stream than it is now but I picked it up as part of my physical gaming library and got pretty much all the DLC’s on sale for .99 cents yesterday. It’s all still on sale for the next three days by the way. Could be cool to have a group of locals playing it together if anyone’s interested. I’m on Xbox but it does have crossplay.

Discussion Nostalgic For Midnight Releases?

Best Buy is doing a 90’s/mid-2000’s style release for the Ocarina of Time special edition switch 2 by doing a midnight release. Some of us may be too young to remember how common practice this was back in the day but for those of us that do what is your most memorable release or midnight release experience?

I think for me it was probably the Nintendo Gameboy SP release or call of duty 4. I still have that gameboy in a drawer somewhere with an OG copy of Pokemon Sapphire in it.

HELP! Greencastle Pike Game Store?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I can’t remember the name but I was driving on 63/Greencastle pike the other day past the royal farms and noticed a game store maybe a mile past the 70 over pass. I can’t remember the name. Has anyone been here? It’s kind of an inconspicuous location. Looked like maybe a more retro style place perhaps.

Pic I took in Gears 2 for some post flair.

News 1000Hz monitors are coming…

AOC and a couple other brands are pushing 1000Hz (and even 1050Hz overclocked) monitors for next year. On paper it sounds insane.

In reality, sustaining anywhere near that frame rate in modern games — even esports titles — is extremely difficult once you leave the absolute lowest settings and 1080p.

For the competitive players here:

  • Are you planning to jump on 1000Hz when it becomes available?
  • Or do you feel 360–540Hz is already past the point of diminishing returns for most people?
  • How much of the advantage do you think is real versus placebo / marketing at this point?

Genuinely curious where the competitive crowd stands on this.

GPU Prices

Between ongoing memory shortages and reports that both Nvidia’s next gaming generation and most of AMD’s RDNA 5 cards could slip further (some talk of 2028), it feels like we’re stuck in a weird holding pattern.

Current-gen cards aren’t getting any cheaper, and the usual “just wait for the next generation” advice is starting to feel risky.

If you’re looking at a GPU upgrade in the next year:

  • Are you buying current-gen now before prices climb more?
  • Holding out and praying for a miracle restock/price drop?
  • Or just sticking with what you have and skipping this generation entirely?

Would love to hear what people are actually doing instead of just theorizing.

Memory Prices

Micron and other memory makers are openly saying DRAM and NAND shortages are going to get tighter through 2027–2028, with contract prices expected to keep climbing. We’re already seeing the effects in GPU pricing, laptop configs, and even some prebuilts shipping with less RAM than they used to.

For people who are planning a new build or upgrade in the next 6–12 months:

  • Are you buying RAM now before it gets even more expensive?
  • Are you scaling back on capacity (sticking with 32GB instead of 64GB)?
  • Or are you just delaying the whole build until things stabilize?

Curious how everyone is adjusting their plans (or if you’re just ignoring it and hoping for the best).
