Got my first tabletop wargame. I've dabbled in 40k and Trench, but my heart longs for Antiquity. Took a few weeks to find everything online. If you guys have any good SOLO antiquity wargames please let me know. Ideally in the time period of the Peloponnesian War to the fall of Rome. Alexander, Cesear, Hannibal, Pompey, etc. I ask for Solo because my area has no community beyond 40k and my friends dont fan girl over hammer and anvil tactics like I do.

What games focus on simulating artillery or indirect fire as the most important element to gameplay? How did they make it primary? What about the mechanics of the simulation related thematically to artillery?

(I’m a little high and imagining a more board game style thing where players manage competing artillery teams.)

Finally finished and based up these late Roman heavy cavalry! Minis are from Northstar (Crusader), very simple and nice to paint. LBMS transfers. Next up is probably some Zona Alfa stuff.

I see these on noble knight and I fell in love with the idea. Especially as someone who could never get into card games. Bad news for me all the collectible miniatures games I like are discontinued. Heroclix looks alright but are there any others or is that really it. Allies and Axis looked sick.

I decided to paint these as an Ii -clan army, mainly to have a reason to go for a unified colour scheme. Also, I think red armour looks cool. No snapped spears yet!

A couple of weeks ago I bought (what I thought at the time) an entire wargame for the price of five space marines.

This week I finished painting up all the models on the set, and these were my thoughts.

Hi all, I'm just looking for some advice, experience and insight.

Me and my wife are looking to open up a small 17m2 friednly local ganmes store in the North of England. There are no competitir stores for 20 miles south and over 35 miles North. We have scope out a site that woudl cost less than £350pm to rent, operate and maintain which has led us to look to turn our interests into a busniess.

Given the low running cost and expected magins of around 35-40% does this seem viable?

We are looking to have a large community focus with painting workshops, demos, fun game nights and more for people of the local areas to enjoy.

The town itself has about 7000 residents and now has heavy tourist footfall especially in the summer. The shop would be at the very top of the main high street in the town also.

The main draw would be Warhammer but we are also lokking to stock bands such as Bolt Action, Konflikt 47, Trench crusade, Army Painter, Vallejo, pokemon, Magic the gathering, Lorcana etc and have converstations startted with stockists and suppliers.

Any advice on this or people that have had a similar venture that could provide some info would be fantastic. We have loved getting back into the community of wargaming and board games and would love to give back while mainiting a viable business.

I dont mean a swarm mode or campaign engine but just a solo engine that can emulate a second player relatively well.

I love blkout setting-wise but i dont think the game would work well solo since small decisions can be really important and a solo engine cant be accurate to that degree.

Save the Ships! Overnight Wargaming and Board Gaming aboard the USS Edson | Bay City, MI | Nov. 7-8

Ahoy, wargamers, LARPers, boardgamers, and adventure seekers!

We’re hosting an overnight event called Save the Ships! Bay City 2026, and we’re looking for shipmates to join us. Bring your wargames, board games, and cards for a night of gaming aboard the USS Edson at the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum. The main event is an immersive undersea warfare simulator staged in the ship’s command spaces, where you’ll man a battle station and fight a submarine vs. destroyer battle. Then stay the night and explore a decommissioned warship after hours!

This is a small-scale event, and tickets are limited due to space aboard the ship. Evening passes are available but if you want a berth, don’t wait.

EVENT DETAILS
Date: Saturday, November 7 to Sunday, November 8, 2026 (Saturday night to Sunday morning)
Location: USS Edson, Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum, Martin Street, Bay City, MI
Check-in: Saturday, 5:00 PM, outside the museum

IMMERSIVE UNDERSEA WARFARE SIMULATOR
At the event, participants can take part in a simulated naval battle from inside a real warship. Our immersive undersea warfare simulator takes over the command spaces of the USS Edson, complete with sound effects and battle lighting. Players man their battle stations and use real-world tactics to hunt and sink each other, submarine against destroyer. Whether you’re a wargamer, a naval history buff, or someone who just wants to see what it feels like to command a ship in battle, this can be a very fun experience.

BRING YOUR GAMES
This is a BYO games event, and the games are what make the night. Wargamers, we especially want you aboard. Bring your miniatures, your campaigns, and your favorite wargames, and set up on a real warship. Board gamers, tabletop players, and card game fans are just as welcome. Bring something to share, and plenty of people will be ready to play.

• An immersive submarine vs. destroyer warfare simulator in the ship’s command spaces, with sound and battle lighting

WHAT TO BRING

• A warm sleeping bag, or pillows and blankets. The vessel has limited climate control, so plan for a chilly night
