So, Fridays are a pretty common day to have the procedure done. If you're hanging out, chat about how it's hanging, what you're doing to recover, or anything you want.

Should I find a different urologist? Scalpel vs non

Just had my consult for a vasectomy with one of the two urology practices in my city. They assigned a doctor to me who had good reviews. During our meeting I asked if he performed the non scalpel method and he said he did not. He does a single incision. According to him, his method is more effective than the no scalpel.

Is the scalpel vs non significant enough to find a different provider?

... is this normal? 4 months post vasectomy, testicular pain

I’ll preface this by saying everything went fine for the first couple of months. My girlfriend and I were intimate after the first month while still using protection, until they confirmed that no sperm was detected and that we could stop using any forms of birth control. I thought that was weird, as I’ve been told protection is sometimes still needed to prevent pregnancy, and the lady said it like it was no big deal. The procedure was a little rough, however. Apparently I started bleeding, and the doc had to stitch up some veins. He said the veins were not where they were supposed to be and he had cut them on both sides. There was a lot of blood, my girlfriend almost passed out. But they supposedly patched it up, got it done, and here I am 4 months later now experiencing testicular pain during intimacy and after ejaculation. It started about a week ago. I’ve always been tender down there around the testicles (what man isn’t), but now they feel even more tender. Feeling around in the wrong spot causes me to jolt from the sudden pain. The pain after ejaculation lasts about 10 to 15 minutes. Do I need to go back? Or maybe see a different urologist?

Snip this week

I’ve read all kinds of shit good/bad. I’ve had people message me on Reddit instilling the fear of their experiences.

I’ve heard bad experiences are inflated because no one talks about a positive experience or a procedure that went well.

I don’t know how to poll on here. Chat can I get a thumbs up/down or a yes/no so I count and quell on my own data.

Supporting Partner Should we tell the parents?

My husband is choosing to get snipped and I’m in full support, but we suspect my parents wouldn’t be fans of the decision if they knew, especially my generally conservative mother. So, should they know?

We’ve been married for one year, we’re both young, and we both know we want to adopt exclusively. We also want to do the respectful, thoughtful thing by my parents and not let there be an expectation of future pregnancy announcements or hopes of bio grandbabies.

But also, is it really their business? For us this is a positive announcement, something we want to celebrate. If they can’t do that with us, is it worth telling them?

... is this normal? 1/hpf??

3 months after my surgery I got tested and the result was 1/hpf sperm seen. They said they want me to test in another month after clearing the pipes 15 more times.

I am a bit concerned this means my vasectomy failed. They said they didn't test if the sperm was motile or not but I'm dreading if my surgery failed or will reverse. 1 because my insurance runs out soon and 2 because I really don't want to go through the recovery process again.

Anyone go through anything similar and can hopefully reassure me?

Did your vasectomy change the force, volume, or consistency of your ejaculations?

Heads up: NSFW account, but a legit question. Not here to promote anything and would appreciate helpful responses instead of judgmental ones even if you disagree or dislike our decisions.

My husband and I make adult content, and we’re considering a vasectomy. We’re weighing the pros and cons.

A key thing we’re curious about is whether anyone noticed changes in their ejaculations afterward. Less force, less volume, or a thinner consistency?

To be upfront, our viewers really enjoy the ejaculation aspect of our content, so the “money shots” (pun intended), are a consideration for us financially. It’s not the deciding factor, but it’s something we’re taking and thinking about.

For those who noticed a difference, was it temporary or something that stuck around? And if nothing changed, we’d love to hear that too.

Mods, if this is inappropriate for the sub, please remove. Just hoping to hear people’s firsthand experiences!

... is this normal? Some discomfort

okay so by day 5 I was feeling alot of pressure. It wasnt unbearable, just made me pee alot. I decided to rub one out and it helped relieve the pressure. On day 6 I decided to chill with my FWB and now im a little sore. Sore like someone squeezed my balls 2 hours ago. Am I cooked? Has anyone been through this?

Update: at day 8 now. sharp bends are still a bit uncomfortable, otherwise I feel about 95% normal. thanks for advice guys.

... is this normal? Mysterious lumps post- OP

It has been a little over two years since I had my vasectomy, and here recently I noticed that I had a very hard lump that was at the very bottom of my testicle. In my ignorance I scared myself enough to go to the doctor without seeing if the other side had the same lump.

After the visit my dr said there was nothing to worry about and sent my on my way. I feel better for a little while trying to remind myself that he wasn’t worried.
Then one day after working out doing semi heavy deadlifts, I had really bad pain again.

I did my googling once again and now I’m a little confused on what it could be, I experimented to see if it could possibly be an infection of some kind so I took doxycycline I had left over from a tic bite previously. It did not affect it much at all, so now I’m wondering could this potentially be a neuroma?

Long story short, I am going to follow up with the urologist that did my vasectomy but In an effort to stop freaking myself out.

Has anyone had this problem?
If so what was the treatment?

Newly Snipped Im Underwhelmed

Got the snip yesterday.

Leading up to snip day I spent a lot of time reading here… all of the horror stories made me very very nervous. Granted, there was pain when they injected the anesthetic, but it lasted maybe 1 second then I felt nothing but some tugging.

Before I knew it the procedure was done. Would I do it again? Nope! But was it doable just this one time? Yes absolutely. I walked out of the place on my own and went home. Now its day 2 and my nuts are tender, so it’s nothing but ice and rest for a few days.

What’s it like getting a Vasectomy?

have a vasectomy scheduled for Nov 10th, I don’t really know anyone who’s had one so I’m needing some insight. My hospital only offers the scalpel method and local anesthesia which from my understanding is one shot to the area. I understand there will be 2 cuts on either side where the doctor can do what he needs. So, I’ll be given the shot and then I will be given 5mg of Valium to take an hour so before the procedure.

Just looking for other men’s experience and advice. This would be a great thing for me and my wife as we have 2 kids and we don’t want more and not having that worry would be awesome for the future. But I feel like I’m freaking out a bit about it and I have no one really to talk to about it and I know there’s other methods and I just want to make sure that this method is still a good one or if I should look for other options.

I’d appreciate any advice!

The option to go under is not an option unfortunately. Give good and bad accounts/experiences for anecdotal consideration.

Can I take more anti anxiety meds than they give? 🤣

Jizz Quiz Tomorrow

Got snipped 9/3/2026. They gave me two cum cups. One for post 10 shots, and another for the 3 month mark. So after about 15 eruptions, I am heading in to deposit my ejaculate. From the experience of fellow “All Clear” individuals, what do you think my chances are I can start serving up cream pies this weekend?

90 Day Sample Testing Time Frame

Trying to schedule a sample analysis to get the all clear. Its been a little more than 90 days since The Snip. Just trying to get a straight answer about the "1 Hour" time frame.

All the labs my Dr recommended are more than 1 hour away, not including traffic.

I call the closest one (about 75 mins away per Google) and they tell me I can drop off the sample at any lab in their network, as long as I schedule it as a "sample drop off".

Great, theres one like 10 mins away and its on my way to work. Schedule 2 days ahead for an early morning drop-off. Day of, break the seal on the cup the Doc gave me, fill'er up, and swing by the lab in about 15 mins after the deed.

I tell her my urologist's name and that its a post Vasectomy sample. She tells me "oh, well the driver doesnt pick anything up until after Noon and the lab is more than an hour away so I don't think this will work out for you."

So what the hell am I supposed to do? How tight is that 1 hour sample lifespan?

I'm kind of debating trying one of the at home tets, but if I mail it out, I would assume thats much longer than an hour, lol.

8 days post still alot of pain

Procedure went fine. I laid in bed for 3 days before going to work. 8 days post and still in alot of pain mostly when walking. Im slightly concerned as most people i know who have had it done claim they rested for 2 to 3 days then returned to work with minimal pain. I dont have much swelling other than around the incision on the left side. Very dark purple bruising that spread for the first 4 days. Im thinking i may not be wearing good enough support. Was able to take a few more days off this week so hopefully more rest helps. It's a little nerve racking when people tell you you're in more pain than you should be, but im racking it up to not enough support for the boys and everyone heals differently. Reading the posts here it seems like recovery is more of a mixed bag than my friends have made it out to be so Im not as worried anymore.

Recovery over after 6 days?

EDIT: I think the translator didn’t explain it well. Let me ask a specific question: is the worst over? Or should we expect the pain or swelling to return?

I’m using a translator. My partner had a vasectomy last Friday.

Day 1: very little pain.

Day 2: a small, slight bruise and a little pain.

From Monday, the pain became more intense, though never a major issue.

He has some slight swelling in his scrotum.

On Wednesday, he started saying he felt better, and today he says he feels even better. The swelling has decreased, and the bruise is fading.

Should we expect a setback, or is his recovery already coming to an end after 6 days?

Waiting game

So, had to ring up to ask. It's been 3 months and I've not heard anything.

Apparently, we've gone over to postal test. It'll come after 20 weeks. So got another month to wait and results take up to a month to come through! So I might know by Xmas...

Newly Snipped Don’t over think it

Got the snip this morning- anxiety kicked in. I don’t like doctor offices or anything like that. I definitely worried for nothing. I had a traditional vasectomy. I was more worried about the doc holding my coin purse with one hand and I’m spread eagle on stirrups with 2 female nurses while he’s talking about how Madonna was ran through by NBA players in the 90s. Pain level 0.5/10 during the procedure. The tugging feeling on the vas is absolutely crazy- can’t describe it but not painful. Mild discomfort on the way home. Ice on the sac and advil. I’ll update tomorrow but as of right now-no swelling or bruising or pain.

Newly Snipped Chances of pregnancy with in a few months of vasectomy?

My husband had a vasectomy 5 weeks ago. We had sex and we did not use any other form of bc. Usually he pulls out. he thinks it’s fine now to not do that because he had the procedure. I told him we have to wait until a few months after the procedure and to get tested before doing this. He says it’s fine. But now I’m wondering if there’s a chance we can get pregnant now. I’m pretty sure I’m ovulating too. Did anyone accidentally get pregnant right after your vasectomy? What are the chances?

Newly Snipped Bruising

Procedure was yesterday. Bruising is bad. Around the base of shaft. They only made 1 incision in the middle to get both. Was your bruising pretty knarly too?
