USMNT I think another young players That’s coming up who’s not getting a lot of attention right now is Robert turdean

I’ve seen the kids play and I think his ceiling is very very high maybe not world class but I think it’s up there. When it comes to technical ability he’s very elite I think people should give the kid a look. He’s quite small and skinny right now he’s only 17 years old. But if he was a hit taller and bigger I’m sure he’s be starting for Chicago fire

A Instagram response back from Eddie Johnson wrt Landon’s statement on anointing young players. For some reason, Landon singled out Eddie Johnson (and Gio Reyna) among others. Original discussion thread is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ussoccer/s/iHYe8FiW4d

Text of what Eddie said:

eddie_johnson7:   I can't speak for @freddy_adu or Santino Quaranta or @gioareyna but I will speak for myself Landon Timothy Donovan. You talk so much shit about every other young upcoming player in the past but yourself lol why don't we talk about the 5 years you were in Germany and failed and ran back to MLS bc you weren't good enough? Why don't we speak about this? One of the best considerably players in ourcountry failed in Europe early in his career no one killed him but he's killing all these young players that have done more then he ever has done in Europe. I got Time today. You played in a World Cup I played in a World Cup you played in a U-17 World Cup U-20 World Cup Olympics I did the same what make you different then a kid from Bunnell Florida. I did everything you did with fewer opportunities and still considered one of the best strikers this country has seen!!

USMNT Landon Donovan gives prediction on Noahkai Banks' career: “He's gonna have an okay career. He'll be an okay center-back. He will not be a prominent German center-back for the next decade and a half. He's gonna be a Jonathan González. And that's fine. I don't hate the kid.”

Bournemouth would be a fun destination. Tillman is quality, and I don't know whether he's just a bad fit at Leverkusen tactically or personally, but he will contribute somewhere.

Discussion What do you think of a relegation/promotion system, as opposed to a closed league?

American sports leagues (including the MLS) use a closed-league system rather than the promotion and relegation system common in European football.

In European football, a club can be relegated to a lower division because of poor performance, while a successful lower-division club can be promoted.

I think promotion and relegation is really interesting because if you support a small team, you can always have hope that they'll make it to the big league and play against the best. I feel like in a closed league system, if a team is on top of their division, their good players will just leave to play in the top flight as there's no real hope to "really" win. But I don't know how this works in practice in the USA.
