Gameplay Trailer Reveals Tropico 7 Release Date by Order of El Prez

Start date of his new era of dictatorship. Later in the text. Maybe.

Today, we have released the first gameplay trailer for Tropico 7. In accordance with El Prez’ edict, the release date is not disclosed in written form and revealed exclusively within the trailer – though El Prez may, in his infinite mercy, decide to spare you the date by the very end.

Citizens and future leaders are hereby instructed, and El Prez addresses his people with unmistakable authority: “Some information is not given. It is earned. Those who wish to know the future of Tropico… must watch, and obey.”

With an expanded system for political constitutions, edicts – which now dynamically depend on El Prez’ political position – and a new political matrix, new city building mechanics like curved roads and even roundabouts as well as terraforming, Tropico 7 continues the series’ signature blend of construction, governance, and satire, placing even greater emphasis on how leadership decisions shape Tropico under one unmistakable rule.

  • More is more: Archipelagos, with the biggest islands ever in the series, await your rule, expanded with 10 extra scenarios, more than 20 sandbox maps, and endless possibilities with a random map generator.
  • Move mountains – literally: Erase them, create beaches, or even create entirely new islands! The new terraforming feature brings your megalomaniac dreams to life. Start that mammoth project – NOW!
  • Bollocks uhm… Politics: Navigate the snares and pits of internal politics, when you summon the different factions to your council, a new way to meet them face to face while you pulverize their dreams – or use them for a BIG DEAL to your own advantage.

[T6] Caribbean Skies DLC - The Scientific Method mission tips

This is a rather odd and challenging mission. I restarted it myself 3 times and had to search for suggestions. There are a couple of old posts that were helpful, but thought I'd share recent experience. There aren't real spoilers since objective is revealed at the beginning.

My first attempts failed because I progressed too soon and then either ran out of money or got voted out. In this mission, you only need to complete the scientist demands, so "working hard enough not to get fired" by your population is sufficient. I set constitution to Pacifist State and where only wealthy could vote. Had decent rating throughout the game, it only went down significantly at the very end.

  1. First objective

before you get into main quest

  1. is

to

  1. set up profitable economy and earn money

.

  1. Another post mentioned 400k, that seems accurate. Star

ting with the boats worked well for me

  1. . I also built Customs Office as soon as I could to increase export prices. I also built a steel factory (to prepare for weapons) and built a trade post where I offered steel to Allies and got a good trade route. Those trade routes are very profitable, like 70% above price. Make sure to select maximum amount to export.
  2. If you have money, also watch out for import deals on weapons. I imported enough not having to produce them at all.
  3. Build a warehouse to stock rum, cigars, and weapons. It can be built on the main island first, then you can relocate it to another island and all the goods go with it. Very convenient!
  4. One thing I should've done and would recommend - decreasing teachers in high school. You will need tons of uneducated workers and I found that people with high-school education don't seem to want to take "uneducated" jobs

and then drag down the job happiness.

Build a Landing on the other islands, so that construction workers can get there. This may seem obvious but I haven’t played in a while and forgot. :)

  1. The main quest will fully start only after you build all 3 airports (2 are free after you build the first one). After setting up profitable economy

    on main island,

  2. start developing

others. I went with

  1. the fertile island where Fabiano Verdon lives.

Set up plantations for

  1. rubber (needed for the first scientist), sugar, and some other crops there. Placed them all close by with "multi culture" setting. Note: you do not need to build a road to the scientist's place on this island. The only objective for this island is to build ranches and farms. You get 8 "satisfaction points" for each. I didn't need that many and just spammed ranches at the very end to finish the mission.
  2. Cargo airports can act as a dock for import/export or transport goods between them. I used only transport mode. Each airport has maximum 2 routes. The airports still need teamsters to bring the goods in/out. I recommend selecting specific goods to transport, otherwise they can get very inefficient. You can use 2 routes of one airport and have only 1 worker at another airport (with no routes) to save money/workers.
  3. I would strongly recommend to have a warehouse already packed with about 2k of rum, weapons, and cigars before Sebastien Deutsch starts making demands. You will need an airport, teamsters (fully staffed, otherwise they don't work fast enough), warehouse, and the road (with a tunnel) on Sebastien's island to complete the mission.

This island has nickel for weapons and tobacco fertility for cigars. But I just imported them.

  4. Sebastien will start with asking for 500

each

  1. rum, then weapons and cigars on repeat until he gets 100 points (successful delivery is 15 points, failure deducts 5 points). You can easily fail the first demands (the counter doesn't drop below 0) but after you start, be ready as the requests appear in close succession and you don't want to miss. I had to start an emergency delivery with Teamsters

    for each demand

  2. , otherwise they would miss the deadline. Also, after you pack the warehouse, change the setting from "store" to the

“allow to be sent to dock”

  1. . Without it, the teamsters refused to pick from the warehouse, even with

emergency

  1. order.

Not sure if it’s a glitch or how warehouse is supposed to operate.
That's it. Good luck, have fun! :)

[T6] I really need help with “The Referendum”

I’ve tried everything. I can’t budge the happiness from 58/70 for the last 2,000 days or something. Please help. I have a save with a good economy 1,500 days from the end finally, but no matter what referenda or buildings I make, it just stays at 58. One time it dropped to 57. I assume I have to start over from the beginning and just start another strategy from the ground up? Please help! I’m normally unstoppable at tycoon type games!

Edit: Would you guys sell 1-2 of the starting textile mills? 3 seems excessive…

Favorite campaigns and missions in the series

The campaigns of Tropico have always been my favorite. There's the main campaign and modern times in 4 which were among my favorites. I also really liked the Tropico 5 campaigns. For Tropico 6 I remember having a lot of fun with the pirate mission. What games or campaigns are your favorite? And do any missions really stand out?

[T7] Ideas for world wonders in Tropico 7

It looks like they're bringing back world wonders in Tropico 7. It also looks likely want to use different ones than we're in Tropico 6. I have an idea for a few they could include.

The Hollywood sign: increases the effectiveness of movie theaters and TV stations.

The Chrysler building: increases the speed of all road vehicles.

The Burj khalifa: reduces construction costs.

The pyramid of Tenochtitlan: removes the cost or negative consequences of having people killed.

The Sydney Opera House: increase the effectiveness of radio stations and music venues.

Who would support the idea that Tropico 7 has a form of market economy without state intervention?

Post image
25 Upvotes

What I mean is an edict or constitutional change where the state stops managing part of the companies of the nation and becomes part of the private initiative, or add options such as selling plots for foreign investment. And if you nationalize a major foreign company, foreign powers will disagree and send elements to try to overthrow you.

[T6] What are people’s opinion on spamming logging camps to not waste wood?

For me, I have a “waste nothing” attitude and it gets annoying when a mine or land suitable for plantations happen to be under a bunch of trees. Sure, I can ignore the forest and build immediately, but that’s a bunch of free resources (wood) going up in smoke. I also find the lumber mill and shipyard to be a nice backbone for your economy up to the Cold War era. Besides, I can always destroy the logging camps once I cleared the area.

But I feel it takes way too long to clear an area, even with 2-3 logging camps at max budget

[T6] Suggested Tropico 7 political system changes from Tropico 6

Since Tropico 7 is still on the horizon, I've been thinking about how the political and unrest systems could be overhauled for the next game. Right now in the series, political unrest often feels a bit generic or overly tied to basic happiness metrics.

I’d love to see a much more realistic approach where riots are chaotic and faction-driven and coups are tied strictly to military loyalty. Here is how a dynamic system like that could work:

1. Faction Ultimatums and Disorganized Riots

  • Ultimatum Fallout: If a political faction issues an ultimatum and El Presidente fails to meet their demands, their die-hard members and strong supporters shouldn't just complain—they should snap. The current ulimatum actions just don't feel to realistic; Like the economic crisis hacking attack and etc..
  • Chaotic Destruction: Because real-world riots are fundamentally disorganized, these mobs shouldn't march with a coordinated plan; instead, they should randomly destroy, loot, or set fire to nearby buildings, targeting businesses or infrastructure associated with rival factions or the state.
  • National Police Response: To handle the chaos, you wouldn't just send the army. You would need to deploy specialized National Police or riot squads to contain the destruction, lock down streets, and restore order before the chaos spreads across the island. Riots should only last a few ingame months but can cause massive damage and set yout tourism rating to 0 for a few months.

2. Military Loyalty & True Coups

  • Loyalty over Approval: Military coups shouldn't trigger just because the militarist faction relationship is very negative (failed ultimatum); they should be strictly tied to how well you fund, appease, and maintain the loyalty of the armed forces.
  • Realistic Power Struggles: If the military feels neglected, underpaid, or ideologically betrayed, high-ranking officers should orchestrate a genuine coup to seize the palace, forcing you to rely on loyalist fractions, foreign backers, or last-minute bribes to survive.

Separating civil unrest (Police handling chaotic faction riots) from military power struggles (Army loyalty and coups) would make managing El Presidente's regime feel far more grounded and strategic.

[T6] Fun ways to make the game harder? (T6)

Hello!

I'm a new Tropico (6) player, though I have played about 20 hours so far. Ever since discovering the trading post the game has felt braindead easy to me, even on harder settings. I've never had a rebellion, only once had an ultimatum after accidentally deleting every residential building on my island, and I'm rarely ever close to losing an election. It's honestly getting a bit boring, I need a better challenge (for sandbox at least). What are some fun ways to make the game harder that aren't just "Intentionally tank communist standing"?

[T6] How do i manage revenue vs expenses?

Thumbnail

The main issue im having right now is my bank account. And it all starts with my production.

First its out of stock. And occasionally i had full stock, but i resolved that with a warehouse. But for out of stock i dont know what to do. I increased my budget which seems to help, but then exporting seems to be an issue. Like i get i cant export if im out of stock, but some items dont have that and my exporting time is still slow if anything at all. I doubt a trading route is supposed to last for years.

I try to build what would help, but missions tend to get in the way. Like i had one mission to build a tavern 3x. Ok easy enough lets do it. I got a sugar plantation but thats not send to produce anything. I have a rum production but thats always out of stock, but i never see any issue with my taverns.

I tried to get steal so i can make weapons, but by the time i was done with that, i had no money left. By the time i do have money (which i have yet to make it past 20k), i have another quest to build something else. At one point, i had a quest to build a fishing area, but i declined that because i was out of money.

I managed to build an embassy so i could request aid, but im more focused on making any money, so i just export what i think i can, but always takes forever. I had a quest to import, which i rarely do, but the only one available for that specific quest was $17k and now im stuck in the negative. The freights come in no more than 20k and now its at 17k. I get financial aid, which was helping at first but since the import, it helps little. What am i doing wrong?

[T6] Standard cost, route cost, deviation and total charge

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi all,

I keep getting import requests from the superpowers, and that -5 affinity modifier means I can't reject them endlessly. However, I also can't afford to import stuff every time I get a request for it because it's early in the game and my economy is constantly living on the edge, so I figured I'd try to import whichever ware causes the lowest possible loss for me.

However, I can't figure out what the cost of something actually is. Using coal as an example, there are three variables I assume I need to care about:

- Standard Cost per 1K units
- Route Cost per 1K units
- Total extra charge

I expect standard cost is what I pay for 1K units, meaning that the lowest possible import at 1800 units would come out to $4,320. The $1,728 is the +40% deviation, so I will pay a total of $6,048 for the coal.

But what is Route Cost, and how is it added? Is it per unit, or per 1K units? Will importing 1800 units add a route cost of $6,048 (3360x1.8), or will it add $6720 (3360x2)?

[T6] Can the military be used for anything?

It seems like the military is largely a complete waste of money. There's military police so I guess you could have a dual military/police force, however I generally never have rebel attacks or foreign invasions and police stations are much cheaper. Even the "militarist" faction doesn't really do much even on pacifist state they only ever ask me to build roller coasters.

Is there anything you can actually use them for productively?

To join, you must have the Middle East version of the game; I can't play co-op with people who have the European or American versions—it's just stupidity on the company's part.

[T4] Beating Mission 7 resetting campaign?

I escaped the island after being framed for the assassination of not-Kennedy, got the world leaders denouncing me and swore revenge, only to be sent back to Mission 1 on St. Clara with my campaign erased and later missions unavailable. Help?
