Stop posting full albums.
A full album post is arguably one of the least interesting/most useless posts you can make in a music subreddit. Album posts always fall into one of two categories:
An album by an extremely well known band. Everyone has either heard these albums or is well aware of their existence. They do not need a reddit post to remind them.
An album by a virtually unknown band. Nobody is going to take 40+ minutes out of their daily listening just to put on your buddy's band.
In both scenarios, posting a song is a far more effective post. People are far more likely to engage with something that's seven minutes long. If it's an old band, people may be looking for a reason to check out their deep cuts. If it's a new band, people are more willing to try them out.
Full album posts clog up the subreddit and it just becomes a spamfest. This is a light traffic subreddit that gets very few posts a day. Make sure those few posts we get are quality.
In addition, it's not a rule, but a great way to get post engagement is to post FFOs. (For Fans Of) Thrash has a lot of similar qualities, and most people generally know what thrash sounds like, but there is absolutely variety. Cryptic Slaughter does not sound like Dark Angel. Razor does not sound like Heathen. A great example of a post:
Artist - "Song Title" (Year of Release) (FFO: Band A, Band B, Band C)
Boom, you gave everyone the context for reasons to check out the band, whether the band is new or classic, and the proper spelling of the band's name so they can check them out on Facebook or Metal Archives.

I think Micrologic by Uncle Slam might've been proto nu metal
I mean it pretty much goes like a nu metal song and the singer was pretty much rapping so I think this was the earliest sign of Proto nu metal

Metal Church Metal Church Metal Church riff
For Guitar Players:
Anyone else who plays guitar think this is a one of a kind gallop on the 3rd fret A string and it is so simple but kind hard to do. What is this rhythm it’s like a little slower than triplets or something and hard to get right ha

Help me identify a thrash metal album from its cover art
Years ago, I listened to a thrash metal album that I remember being highly regarded, but I can't remember the band or album name.
I vaguely remember the artwork featuring a man with a mustache who looked almost like a futuristic 1970s motorcycle cop or highway patrol officer. Think CHiPs, but sci-fi.
I originally thought it was modern technical/progressive thrash, something in the vein of Vektor, but it could be an older album.
Does this ring a bell for anyone? Might have possibly had a blueish background to it

Power/Thrash Unbroken - Akeldama (Field Of Blood)
Hi everyone, what do you think about the song?
The song’s lyrics deal with the dark thoughts of Judas Iscariot, and the torment he went through after betraying Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.
Through a profound dilemma between guilt and a prophesied destiny, the song questions whether Judas acted out of mere greed, or if he was just another pawn in a much larger divine plan.

Speed/Thrash Question for OG members of the early 80s Bay Area scene, and others who were active in that time period.
So I’ve been going to shows for a few years now in my local scene (AR) and noticed there is a LOT of crowdkilling. Spin kicks, stray elbows, windmilling, etc etc that happens in the pit. It seems to happen more frequently than push moshing which is what I expected and had come to understand was the norm in metal scenes. I realize that different scenes and subcultures built around different genres will act and function differently but it also seems from looking online at videos of shows and concerts that crowdkilling has crept beyond its more modern hardcore/beatdown/whatever the specific term is into local scenes in general
My question is, how was crowdkilling or similar behavior viewed back in the day? I’m particularly curious about the Bay Area scene but curious about what the general consensus was back in the day everywhere. From a short bit of googling it seems it wasn’t tolerated and while pits could be dangerous, chaotic, and violent (as they should be!) there wasn’t really a tolerance for crowdkilling.
Note that I am not necessarily asking how you personally feel about, although feel free to share any and all opinions, but rather what the general attitude towards it was back then.
Thanks

What are some big name newer bands in the trash scene?
I’m migrating over from my usual punk/hardcore roots. Started exploring Megadeth and Anthrax but I couldn’t get into their old albums, the production just sucks. But I did like their newer albums (especially Megadeth’s Dystopia). What are some good newer thrash bands to check out?
