I watched a deep dive video about The Evil Within this week, but unfortunately, I can’t find it anymore. In it, they mentioned, among other things, that the game’s story was changed during development, as is often the case, and I think they quoted the book “The Art of The Evil Within”:

Apparently, one of the original ideas was that Sebastian had been one of the men who set the barn on fire while Laura and Ruvik were playing inside.

I find this really interesting and wonder why they scrapped that idea. Seb is a year older than Ruvik. It would have changed quite a lot. He would have still been a child himself and maybe forced to take part in it. If he had lived nearby, he might have grown up in a cult himself, just like Kidman.

Is that why Ruvik says “You did this to us!” in Chapter 10? And they never cut that?

Alors j’adore The evil within je connais depuis que mon père y jouait sur sa ps3 et j’y ai joué sur mon pc et j’ai voulu tester le 2, j’aurais préféré jamais y jouer le 2 est horrible c’est brouillon c’est répétitif c’est chiant on dirait presque un jeu mobile où tu dois évoluer face à des zombies de plus gros niveaux chaques fois, ça fait peur mais c’est lourd c’est vraiment un jeu qu’ils ont sorti mais qu’ils auraient pas du sortir. Je suis vraiment vraiment déçus j’ai d’ailleurs arrêter à la moitier du jeu c’est tellement mauvais c’est mal foutu c’est pas un The evil within c’est une version frauduleuse c’est vraiment n’importe quoi et au delà de ça j’ai joué à beaucoup de jeux d’horreur et là c’est vraiment à chier jamais vu ça même un jeu indé que t’installe gratuit sur itch.io est mieux que cette chose abominable. Je sais pas comment on peut aimer ce jeu alors que c’est de la merde c’est une honte

​Can't believe it's been a whole 12 years since we first stepped foot into Beacon Hospital and got terrorized by Ruvik and Laura.

​Honestly, despite its flaws, the pure survival horror vibe of the first half of this game is unmatched. Running out of matches, sneaking around haunted, and just trying to survive was top tier.

​Anyone else replaying it today to celebrate, or are we all just collectively crying in a corner waiting for a third game that'll probably never happen?

There are multiple completely invisible traps under the water in ch 14 on Akumu. This mode is basically the devs trolling players.

A rare finisher in this awesome DLC! I have seen very little people post this and know of its existence, so I felt like I should share!

After see God of War 3 Remastered and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled running so good, I was wondering how The Evil Within recomp would run, since the PC version is so unoptimized and has stutters in many PCs, peharps a recomp based on the PS4 ver. could become the definitive edition and even an android port might be possible too, since God of War 3 Remastered is getting it (with support a mods, this might be even better than I thought)

For the first question, the two games have preorders that can't be bought separately(just like many games sadly).

And for the second question, microsoft store version of the evil within 1 has exclusive features including the posibility to run for at most 5 seconds instead of 3 seconds(and of course if you upgrade the stamina to the max, you can run at most 12 seconds instead of 10 seconds).

Trying to do Akumu and I’m on the piece of shit gondola that moves at a snail’s pace and the pistol is programmed to be shit. I have a dead-on aim and it misses an entire clip. This game is bullshit. I’m only playing it because it’s all I have on here. Fucking hate this. What a horrible, intentional design. Don’t lie about my accuracy in a fucking shooting gallery where every millisecond counts! Anywhere else in the game, maybe you’d get a pass but a fucking shooting gallery?! Fuck off!

took me like two weeks and 103 more deaths than my nightmare playthrough but i actually beat the difficulty that ive heard so many stories about. genuinely such a fun experience to me, i dont think people talk enough about how fun akumu actually is to beat, its damn hard but so much of this games stealth and combat really shines here

I'm sorry, but The Evil Within is one of the best games I've ever played. I watched the trailer back in 2014, installed it, and sat down to play. I was hooked straight away.

The movement has weight. The camera sway and heavy, deliberate run make you feel like a frightened person trying to survive, not a superhero.

Then the first level, that underground butcher's lair, threw me into a grimy, oppressive nightmare with a chainsaw maniac stalking the halls. I snuck up behind him and stabbed him in the neck twice, only for him to turn around and take my head off. That's when I understood: this game doesn't hold your hand.

When I got the keys and left, he came after me and cut my leg, so I was hobbling around, desperate and vulnerable. I've never felt so hunted. He caught me, killed me, so I jumped straight back in for another try.

The setting, the execution, and that first impression were a huge green flag. It was mysterious, tense, and genuinely scary.

TEW's dread and unsettling surrealism hit on a whole other level.

Stick with The Evil Within.

I was in the market for some survival horror, so I picked up the first installment today. Just got past the angry chainsaw man and wrecked in the ambulam'.

What should I expect going forward? Any tips?

I had this problem on my Xbox one, so I transferred the game to my Xbox series S, in Hope that it wont occur on a better device, but to no avail. Could the game file be corrupted or something?

After finishing the second game, I was reflecting on how amazing (also terrifying!) of an experience it was, and the meaning behind it. The first game was about experiencing the terror in Ruben's mind and escaping from it. The second game was about Sebastian overcoming his guilt and trauma to save Lily. I really liked the encounters with Anima and the lore behind it. Anima targets those in STEM who have unresolved fear, pain and trauma. When Sebastian finally killed the version of him that represented his pain from his first time in STEM, Anima went away.

In his final encounter with Theodore, Sebastian chose to face his guilt for not being there to save Lily, confronted his fear for the creatures of the first game, instead of running away or allowing Theodore to use his fear against him. I cheered for him while watching his character development grow.

His personal growth got me to think about the fear and pain that I might have accumulated in my life. If I were to have an honest conversation with myself, what would those be? If I went into STEM, how would my encounter with Anima be like?

Many of us have experienced some form of fear and pain which left more than short-term effects on us. Overcoming our inner demons definitely isn't as easy as simply playing a game. It requires investing a lot of mental work and maybe even therapy. But I think being honest with ourselves about it is a good step in the right direction.

Anyways, any thoughts?

I just beat the resident evil 4 Remake and it was one of the best games ive ever played.

So I was told TEW was somewhat similar in gameplay and i watched the trailer and it looked cool. Decided to install it today and sat down to play.

First problem right off the bat the game kept crashing, weird graphics issues on the title screen etc.

And then the movement- Oh god the movement, the wobbling camera was making me sick, the characters run animation is so janky and unnatural looking i absolutely could not focus on the game.

And then the first level underground in that butcher guys underground lair just completely took the wind out of my sails.

It just plunges you into the most Corny, overdone, texas chainsaw massacre generic underground lair with some dude that has a chainsaw.

Which btw i went up behind the guy with the chainsaw using the sneak mechanic and stabbed him in the back of the neck twice only to have some low effort one hit death where he cuts my head off?

Ok so i get the keys and leave the room, and of course im forced to walk, and then the chainsaw dude comes after me and cuts my leg, so now im forced to just hobble around everywhere?

At this point im thinking “can i play the fucking game?”

Well the chainsaw dude sees me, kills me and i hate to admit it but i just closed the game.

Im sorry but the whole setting, execution within the first impression of the game was just a huge red flag and it just didnt feel fun to play or mysterious, i felt no emotions, no fear, i was bored.

Compare that to RE4, the mystery, the combat, fluid movement, story starts off in a nice outdoor environment, theres no wobbling camera, the setting was cool right from the very beginning.

I know some of yall love this game but this game just isnt fun and due to the weird wobbling camera making me sick i probably wont play more of it.

Stick to resident evil.
