This confrontation aired on December 12, 2006, during a Dr. Phil episode addressing violence against people experiencing homelessness. Bumfights producer Ty Beeson arrived dressed like the host, including a matching hairstyle. He accused Dr. Phil of also exploiting vulnerable people for entertainment.
Dr. Phil condemned the Bumfights footage and had Beeson removed from the stage. The exchange raised a broader question about when putting someone's struggles on camera becomes exploitation. Despite the claim in the meme, the episode did air nationally.
