As always, not journalists, but attempting to be fair/even/accurate. No money changes hands, monitors are sent for free, for review purposes. UPERFECT doesn't see review before it's posted, etc etc

The GR185BF is marketed as a 18.5" 1080p120 Gaming monitor, with NxtLED technology.
It's a 1080p 120hz IPS display, with UPERFECT’s advanced display technology that combines Omni Visible™ for improved visibility in any light and angle, with eye-friendly features like low blue light, flicker-free performance, and DC dimming, ensuring natural colors, reduced glare, and long-lasting comfort for work, study, or entertainment.
This is basically marketing speak for a nice matte screen, that's anti-reflective, with active dimming, and low blue light spectrum
It's hard to do a decent job capturing it, but you can see how smeary, and how much glare is coming off the phone screen, while the monitor you can just see a blurry light source.
It's definitely a nice screen to use where natural light floods your desk
The panel itself is... fine. The screen specs are respectable, but they're also not top end monitor specs. In a nutshell, it's 1080p120 hz matte panel, no touchscreen, only 290 nits of brightness, and 100% of sRGB colour gamut.

As you can see from the first pic, DeX works just fine on it, negotiating a standard 1080p60 resolution.
When used with my Lenovo Legion y700, you obtain the full 1080p120

Colors look pretty good, if not particularly eye popping

Like virtually every other UPERFECT monitor, there's the pretty standard setup of 2x USB-C and 1 mini-HDMI port on the left side (one of the USB-C intended for power)

The other side will contain the power button and the OSD selector rocker, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack

There's 4x 75mm vesa mounts on the rear as well

The 2x 1w speakers are also on the back, right above the vesa mount screw holes.
They're upward firing and very mediocre (at best). They'll work in a pinch, but you're generally better off using your devices speakers, or a headset
No battery in this model either, it's just a monitor
You CAN power it off the phone/tablet/laptop, and it "works" but it essentially comes up as low power mode, and really drops the brightness. It's still usable, but this would not be the monitor I'd recommend if you want a coffee shop, no power portable monitor.
Used as intended, this is a really nice 1080p 120hz gaming monitor. It's not large enough, or bright enough for me to recommend it as work station monitor that requires any kind of color accuracy.
But for pairing it with a phone/steam deck/gaming handheld for a nice portable gaming screen? that's definitely it's intended audience, and it's pretty great in that space.
I really enjoyed using it while fiddling with GameHub and getting steam games up and running on my Lenovo y700. It was great with the steam deck too
Overall, with the $219 CAD price point, it's MUCH easier to accept some of the short comings of the panel, and anyone looking for just a decent bigger screen for their travel gaming setup, I'd be happy to add this to the choices

Hey! Our team is working on an app for controlling a Windows PC from Android. We'd love to hear from people who use DeX to connect to their PC.
Which app do you use, and what do you usually do with it? Any annoying problems with the keyboard, mouse, scrolling or screen size? What would you like to see improved?
If your setup already works great, tell us about that too. Suggestions and real experiences would really help us decide what to focus on.

Currently testing the port. Most apps work fine already but there's still a few features missing. This maybe exactly what I've been looking for all this time!

I need help using Dex (or any other method) on my laptop. I mostly want to play games (native and emulated). I could also view photos and videos and run some other apps but it's mainly to play games now.

Hi there!
I'm looking for a device that I can plug to HDMI TV in Airbnb, and use dex wirelessly with it.
For browsing, media streaming, while keeping my phone near me.
What device can you recommend ?

I don't have a need for this but I'm just curious 😄
Is it possible to access Samsung DeX, ideally without it actually connected to a display, via RDP or similar protocols?

Hey everyone! I'm currently running into the usual One UI kernel limitation where custom hubs kill the battery bypass (pass_through = 1) when trying to game using a mobilador (keyboard/mouse mapper) and Samsung DeX simultaneously.
I'm planning to buy the ASUS ROG Gaming Charger Dock (65W) to fix this, routing my peripherals through a secondary hub connected to the dock's USB-A port.
Has anyone here tested this exact setup? Does the ROG dock reliably maintain the PPS handshake required for the kernel to keep battery bypass active on One UI 8.5 / 9? Any tips or recommendations for a solid DeX + gaming setup would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I have a cheap keyboard to my Dex, but it's horrible at typing. Sometimes it makes double space and often it doesn't write the letter I press. Is this a normal thing or should I go for another keyboard? This one is bluetooth and connected to my phone. My phone is connected to a mobile screen by USB C cable.

Note: English is not my first language, so I used AI to help with the wording and translation. DX Manager itself was designed, developed, and tested by me.
Hi everyone! A few people requested higher frame rates, especially for gaming, so I’ve added an experimental 120 FPS option to the Microsoft Store edition of DX Manager.
For a detailed overview of DX Manager’s features, please check out my previous Reddit post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/SamsungDex/comments/1x2uvzi/dx_manager_is_now_on_the_microsoft_store/
I tested VRChat on my Galaxy S26 Ultra running One UI 9.0 and checked a recording of the actual video stream.
A 30-second gameplay segment averaged 116.3 FPS. Frame-by-frame inspection of a moving scene also confirmed new game frames—not simply a 60 FPS sequence duplicated twice.
That confirms genuine high-frame-rate operation in this tested setup, but it does not guarantee a constant 120 FPS or the same results on every device and game.
To see the extra frames, make sure your PC monitor supports 120 Hz or higher and is actually configured to use it.
The phone screen must stay on. On my device, turning it off drops the stream to around 60 FPS. Turning it back on allows the frame rate to return toward 120 FPS.
I confirmed this issue on my Galaxy S26 Ultra running One UI 9.0: with HID mouse disabled, dragging an Android app’s title bar inside DeX can cause a black screen or freeze the entire phone.
The exact cause of the SDK-mouse/DeX interaction is still unconfirmed, and I don’t currently have a reliable fix.
For DeX, please keep HID mouse enabled. Do not deliberately reproduce this issue—it can leave the phone unresponsive.
This concerns app windows inside DeX, not moving the outer scrcpy window on your Windows desktop.
For gaming, I recommend trying single-window mode, particularly if a game’s controls work better with HID mouse disabled. In my setup, the game fills its own virtual display, avoiding the in-DeX title-bar dragging that triggered this issue. This is a workaround for that particular operation, not a guarantee against every possible crash.
The Android taskbar may still remain visible even when the game fills the window.
Open DX Manager’s Session Log from Settings, then click inside the scrcpy window:
Remember that turning the phone screen off drops high-FPS operation on my tested device. These are the default scrcpy shortcuts.
120 FPS noticeably increases phone heat and battery consumption. Avoid prolonged or unattended use, be mindful of OLED burn-in, and stop if the phone overheats.
Thanks to everyone who suggested features, tested the app and shared feedback!

I’m sharing DoveOS, my project for reusing the HP Elite x3 Lap Dock with its own USB-based desktop and streaming applications.
The Android integration is called DoveDeX. It supports desktop/screen streaming, keyboard and pointer control, and sound through the dock over USB or Wi-Fi. Wireless setup begins with an authorized USB-debug connection. I’ve also tested connecting through a phone hotspot.
DoveDeX is our application, separate from Samsung’s official DeX software. Desktop availability and other capabilities depend on the Android source and version.
DoveOS also includes Moonlight PC streaming, iPhone mirroring, file transfer and local media playback.
I’ve successfully completed a manual download, USB write and boot test.
Download, source and compatibility:
https://github.com/hakami55/DoveOS
This currently targets the tested HP Elite x3 Lap Dock setup with compatible firmware/boot support. Installation needs a spare 32 GB or larger USB. Other dock models and board revisions are unverified, and the documentation lists remaining limitations.
Feedback from HP Lap Dock owners using Android desktop modes would be appreciated!

Hi, someone ported the ArtCraft apps to Android: MostafaXS1/artcraft-android. ArtCraft is an open-source suite of Rust apps that clone tools like Photoshop (PhotoCraft), Lightroom (LightCraft), Illustrator (VectorCraft), Premiere (FilmCraft), Word (WordCraft), PDF editing (PdfCraft) and more.
I've been testing them on Samsung DeX and they work really well. The desktop-style layout makes a lot of sense on a big screen with keyboard and mouse.
Before installing I had the repo and the release APKs reviewed with an AI assistant. Here's what it found:
- No INTERNET permission at all, so the apps can't send anything anywhere
- No trackers, telemetry, obfuscated code or code downloaded at runtime
- The only broad permission is "All files access", used only by the built-in file browser. You can deny it and open files through the normal Android picker or "Open with"
- The decompiled APKs matched the published source as far as it could check.
