Following the feedback on my previous showcase here, I’ve been working on a major update for Genesis an open-source 3D real-time atomic & subatomic simulator built with JavaFX and Python (gRPC).
The main focus of v0.3.0 was fixing engine stability and improving the physical accuracy of nuclear interactions based on your suggestions.
What’s new in v0.3.0:
Neutron & Alpha Bombardment: You can now fire slow neutrons or 5 MeV alpha particles at the nucleus. Outcomes (capture, scattering, fission) are calculated using measured ENDF/B-VIII.0 cross-sections.
Impact Causality Fix: Fixed the visual desync where the nucleus mutated instantly on UI click. State updates are now strictly tied to the exact millisecond of the particle collision callback.
Open-Shell Valence View: Added a dedicated visualizer focusing purely on reactive valence orbitals (s, p, d, f).
Engine Stability & Optimization: Re-architected gRPC buffer handling to eliminate crashes during rapid periodic table selections.
Full Localization & OS Support: Reviewed ~2,400 English sentences, added 1-click FR/EN toggle, and added macOS support alongside Windows and Linux.
Thank you to everyone who tested the early build and provided detailed feedback on the calculations and UI.
The project is completely free and open-source.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new cross-section implementation!
