So if I take the code and use it for future reference, it’s stealing.
What if I take the code, use it to train an LLM on it and use the LLM to write code ?

Don't hesitate to destroy some books and pollute water while you're at it! 1 u/Fit_Philosophy_3392 8d ago Who owns the LLM? Work? And you use it for work? Great. If you download code from work and feed it to your personal LLM for training that's stealing. If you point your LLM to stackoverflow and train on code there you aren't stealing from work. Clear as mud! 1 u/eyalhs 8d ago Still stealing, the important part isn't what you do with the code but that you took it. Even if you take it and do nothing with it it's still stealing, it's just more likely you won't get caught. 0 u/SuperFLEB 8d ago It's stealing and then training an LLM with it.
