USB event is logged and eventually reported. Next time you’re online or when you return your device. For this I’m writing some python script that handles the transfer out via network as that would require a lot more forensics to id and log.

I enjoy reading this sub sometimes as someone at a smaller/medium sized company, because boy of boy do I not have these levels of oversight or security competence in my career lol.

Come to Japan, no one even knows what's in my work machine. Although, I'm the only one writing code.

Defender for Endpoint does this, so almost any enterprise Microsoft shop will have it. Don’t need to be a particularly paranoid company.

Sure, most companies probably won’t bother to do anything about that. But for companies that care about their source code, wiping your company owned equipment can be seen as destroying evidence and work against you if they have anything else on you. It’s honestly just not worth it to me. I’m not risking my livelihood for some sweet or orchestration or ERP code

Same here. People kept unknowingly plugging in infected USB drives.

If you genuinely need a USB drive for your job, there's an exception process. But I'm sure it's tightly controlled.
