General Podcast Discussions How do you find time to listen to podcasts?
They are so long as well, 4-5 hours, i miss the early days when a podcast was 30-45min.

For situational context: I’m definitely still in shock and denial. We’ve been together almost 4 years. We live together, so extracting our lives feels so daunting and scary. He’s just not ready for the lifetime commitment, so this isn’t my decision or what I want. I am heartbroken. Thanks for anything you can recommend to just help me feel less alone and more confident going through this.

I’m 2 weeks or so post partum and during this time at home with my little one, I want to work on reinventing myself and becoming a more positive, confident person. Are there any motivational or I aspirational podcasts anyone can recommend?

Hi yall— I like the idea of business wars, but I’m not a fan of the format. The host and other actors voicing characters to retell the story. I prefer business podcasts that tell the story matter of factly, without the theatrical elements. If they give commentary even better.
Any hits?

I had recently been rediscovering podcast after several year hiatus of listening to strictly audiobooks. Randomly came across this suggested on Tik Tok and can say that this is one of the most fun experiences of any episode of podcast I have ever listened to.
Am also hoping to have some more stand alone and stand out episodes Reddit would recommend! Not looking for an entire podcast channel but just episodes that really stood out to you.
Hope you enjoy the recommendation as much I did!

Closer to Truth is a podcast (was apparently a TV series before) that explores the fundamental questions of existence, consciousness, and the universe through deep, unscripted dialogues with the world's leading thinkers. The host Robert Kuhn is a neuroscientist and public intellectual (I like his style of questioning the guests)
Watched this recent conversation with Acharya Prashant and I liked how the starting point or the main purpose of the conversation is focused on human suffering rather than an abstract metaphysical debate. I felt like the approach was very practical and very psychologically relevant.
Acharya Prashant points out that any duality is fundamentally between the self and the "duality" the self claims to see. Similarly, any declaration of consciousness necessitates a pre-existing ego (our sense of self, that which we mean when we say "I"), which is the sufferer. This kinda challenges one of the mainstream metaphysical framing of consciousness as being something independent, because by doing so, we create a dualistic trap that allows the ego to remain hidden.
I think this does a good job at demystifying spiritual tropes by shifting the focus from ontological speculation to the reality of the suffering self. Our felt sense of self is not some sacred soul, but an "evolutionary error"...a psychic configuration designed for self-preservation that inherently distorts our perception of the world.
What do you all think of this? Do let me know if you have any insights from the conversation too!

I feel like I've listened to everything, and my list is now empty... Can anyone recommend me a series that is scripted, either story-telling or investigative? I liked:
Scamfluencers
S-Town
Noble
Floodlines
What to Carry
Buried
Red-handed (in small doses)
Anything from Tortoise Investigates /Telegraph /FT Investigates
I'm kind of fed up with crime, but I like the investigative element of "stuff happening" and being explained.
I can't listen to anything AI....
I tried the Last Podcast on the Left, but I found the unscripted format really irritating.

specifically things leaning in the paranormal/occult angle if possible, creepcast and welcome to night vale are two of my favorites, but I tend to run into a bit of a slump on not knowing what to listen to at work or on long drives in-between new uploads since I’m caught up.
I like true crime when the time is right but that’s not what I’m looking for currently, especially since there’s such an abundance of them.
I really just want some fun spooky, creepy Halloween-y type stuff rather than hearing about some
actual person being murdered for the 1000th time
edit: not trying to post n’ ghost but i posted this right before bed and woke up to a TON of great responses so Im gonna aim to listen to one episode from each comment and see which ones I like the best, really appreciate all the suggestions!

I'm a big fan of In Bed With The Right, a podcast covering cultural turning points with the right as well as missteps with the Democrats.
Just last week I listened to a great episode about the rise of incels, including how the original message board was by a woman incel looking for a support group. But I can't find that episode anywhere now. It's not in my listening history, there's nothing clearly it on the episode list. Any chance someone here knows about it?

Recently started loving:
What went wrong
What to burn, what to bury
Behind the bastards
(I like the dollop but also find it annoying)
Any similar recs? Or something different but gets you hooked

Does anyone remember an old podcast that covered Lost, Breaking Bad, movies, and other TV shows in the late 2000s and early 2010s? Trying to see if anyone from that community is still around because I've compiled all of the lost podcast files and put them on a website for them to live. https://behindthecuttingedge.com/

A friend recommended Noble and S-Town to me and I thoroughly enjoyed both of those podcasts… are there any more standalone series (standalone is preferred, but not a necessity) about the American south? The culture is interesting to me and I really enjoyed how that came into play in the stories being told in both of the podcasts I listed.
However, I’m typically not into true crime. I think Shaun Raviv did a great job with Noble, but I was really put off at the end when he went to Brent Marsh’s church. I found that really invasive. So, I guess what I’m trying to say is that a respectfully told story is amazing, but hosts that cross reasonable boundaries are a hard no from me.

I recently finished Gardens of Evil: Inside the Zion Society Cult. It was a nice change from my typical true crime murders or missing people. Wouldn’t mind more like this, especially investigative several episode series.

“Not Just a Terrible Story” podcast - about this teacher … I cannot find a picture of this sleaze. Does anyone know more of the story or able to provide more insight into this story? I’m two episodes in and trying to complete some due diligence, and I cannot find much aside from the podcast itself.

If anyone listens to serialously by Annie Elise, you know what I’m talking about but unfortunately, I almost can’t stand her and her sister.
Do any other podcasts consistently do episodes where they cover multiple current true crime stories that are ongoing or just coming out in the news?

The Tromp family case involves an Australian farming family from Silvan, Victoria, who abruptly fled their home on August 29, 2016, in a week-long, 1,600 km episode of shared paranoia and separation.
The Family
• Mark Tromp (51) – Father
• Jacoba Tromp (52/53) – Mother
• Riana Tromp (29) – Daughter
• Mitchell Tromp (25) – Son
• Ella Tromp (22) – Daughter
Timeline of Events (August–September 2016)
• August 29 (Silvan): The family suddenly abandoned their berry farm without passports, credit cards, or most mobile phones, embarking on a cash-only road trip.
• August 29–30 (Warburton & Bathurst): Near Warburton, Mitchell was told to throw his mobile phone out the window because the family believed they were being tracked. They drove north into New South Wales.
• August 30 (Bathurst): Mitchell left the family and made his way back home. Riana and Ella separated from their parents shortly after.
• August 31 – September 3 (Separation & Discovery):
• Riana and Ella took a car near the Jenolan Caves and drove toward Goulburn. Riana was later found in a catatonic state and hospitalized. Ella was later found and faced minor vehicle theft charges, which were subsequently dropped.
• Jacoba was found wandering the streets of Yass on September 1 and hospitalized.
• Mark was found days later on September 3 wandering near the Wangaratta airport.

I was wondering if you guys had some recommendations for podcasts that are centered around career/job search advice and advice on how to navigate office politics?
Im not looking into the podcasts that are more generic or are frat-guy looking dudes who are trying to push you into entrepreneurship or who tell you to just network. Instead im looking for more of maybe someone who works in HR giving advice on how to navigate things in the workplace or even just more practical advice from someone whose been successful in an office job.
Thanks!

Hi! I just listened to the Pretend episode about Gypsy Rose and found it interesting enough that I'd like to give some other seasons a try. What are the best seasons of the Pretend Podcast?
