Advice/Help Nightreign Onebro Community Co-op

Hi fellow Onebros. With Nightreign launch looming large, it seems like a good time to start organising some team members from the community. My own experience after the playing the beta is that a trio of players who actually know what they’re doing, work cooperatively and don’t just grab all the loot whether they need it or not, makes for a much better experience and higher chances of success. Particularly more so now since the games has been toughen up since the beta.

I suggest that the password just be: onebro

So if you’re keen, add your details below.

Console/PC: Gamertag/PSN etc: Region:

Mods- can we please have this as a sticky for a while?

Edit: Reposting this and pinning

This previously was part of rule #9, but the circumstances were such that we needed to call it out as its own individual rule.

Blooper/Fail we got morgott jank before gta 6

Probably related to him queuing a long range move when using the spear throw, getting behind him should prevent it

(already got him btw, also it took me too long to realize the geysers spawn where his attacks land)

Discussion My thoughts on every remembrance boss after my first RL1 run (no summons, SB0) Also this is a bit of a long read ngl, and I will only rate the bosses where I remember how I felt about the fight.

Base Game

  • Godrick the Grafted - Incredibly simple. It's Godrick. Cool cutscene tho.

Weapon used: Bloodhound's Fang

  • Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon - Also pretty easy, but she did actually trip me up a couple times with her annoying summons, but in the end her healthpool is pretty small.

Weapon used: Bloodhound's Fang

  • Starscourge Radahn - Radahn was honestly quite a pain to deal with. I had never really properly learnt his attacks before this, and I struggled initially with how big he was and to the untrained eye you couldn't see what he was doing, + his big ass swords one shotted me. However, through many deaths and repeated trial and error, I got him.

Weapon used: Bloodhound's Fang

  • Regal Ancestor Spirit - Borin ass fight, next

Weapon used: Bloodhound's Fang

  • Astel, Naturalborn of the Void - I struggled with recognizing when he would do the gravity pulse attacks that he loves doing when you're under him, but I realized a lot of his swooping moves will straight up just miss you if you're close, and accordingly you would be able to position yourself to be in front of him as much as possible.

Weapon used: Bloodhound's Fang

  • Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy - I fuckin hated Rykard's earthquake move, and so my strat was to just kill the first phase as fast as possible using the lance + serpent hunter crouch poke tech and then get Rykard down. I often got caught out by the after explosions from his rancor spell due to greed, but he's a fair fight besides the earthquake.

Weapon used: Lance + Serpent Hunter.

  • Morgott, the Omen King - I lowkey kinda regret using shackle and cold star fisting him, just much less hp than he should have.

Weapon used: Cold Star Fist

  • Fire Giant - Shit boss. Fire physics can suck a fat one, and hes so freakin tanky bro. 5/10

Weapon used: Bloodhound's Fang

  • Maliketh, the Black Blade - Maliketh is super fun in his second phase; honestly I find the second phase to be easier than first. first phase has just always been very tricky to me and i never got to truly mastering the flow of the fight in the first phase and exploiting his openings properly.

Weapon used: Bloodhound's Fang

  • Lichdragon Fortissax - Ice Spear is incredible against this guy, especially if you get him on the head. He's honestly not really a threat since you dont really need to engage with a lot of his moveset if you just stay far and spam this AoW.

Weapon used: Clayman's Cold Harpoon

  • Dragonlord Placidusax - Boring fight. Aside from the aura of being a dragon and the hype cutscene and the cool nuke attack this guy is a snoozefest 5/10

Weapon used: Dual wielded Bloody Bandit Curved Swords

  • Mohg, Lord of Blood - Mohg is hella fun. I love his second phase, even if the bloodflame is annoying af to manage. Not much to really say specifically about the fight, its just pretty fun. I would basically completely skip phase 1 with the shackle. 8.9/10

Weapon used: Cold Star Fist, Bloodhound's Fang

  • Malenia, Goddess of Rot - By FAR the highest death count from the base game (big surprise) my technique for dealing with Waterfowl Dance was using VOTI for dealing with the first two flurries, blocking the third and dodging the rest. Learning her moveset is pretty fun tho, and it's really one of the easier ones for a boss excluding waterfowl. 8.8/10

Weapon used: Bloodhound's Fang and Vow of the Indomitable

  • Godfrey, First Elden Lord - Cool fight. I've never really loved and adored him as much as so many people do on this sub, but he's still a super good fight and a really good penultimate boss. 8/10

Weapon Used: Cold Star Fist

  • RadaBeast - Radagon is a much better fight than Elden Beast, but I do think the big holy fish is a bit overhated. I just spammed Star Fist R2 for poise breaks and got them down fast (it did take the second most attempts though) 7/10

SOTE: I kept track of death counts for this!

  • Divine Beast Dancing Lion (112 deaths) - Upon further thought, I don't think lightning phase is as horrible as I initially thought it was, but I still don't like how restrictive it can be. Other than that and that camera nonsense he comes with, I quite like the fight. 7/10

Weapon used: Blood Zweihander

  • Rellana, Twin Moon Knight (346 deaths) - It's still fuck the uppercut, and it'll always be fuck the uppercut. Such a fast move oh my god. I opted to parry her, and it's great fun and very satisfying when you get them off. 7.8/10

Weapon used: Lightning Misericorde, Carian Retaliation.

  • Putrescent Knight (107 deaths) - Meh. In my post about killing him commenters pointed out some opportunities I had to punish him which I didn't take, which definitely improved my opinion of this boss, but to be honest, I still think he's just not all that; I just don't like the way he moves and fights. 4.5/10

Weapon used: Sacred Great Stars

  • Messmer the Impaler (208 deaths) - GOATTTTT I LOVE YOU MESSMER YOU GOT SO MUCH AURA AND SWAGGER 9.5/10

Weapon used: Blood Pata

  • Commander Gaius (96 deaths) - Very good fight. Gaius slander is not tolerated in my household. The 7-hit combo he does is pretty fun to dodge and you can do it in such varied ways (I myself have seen like 4 diff ones). His melee combos are incredibly simple, maybe even too simple tbh. 8.8/10

Weapon used: Cold Pata

  • Scadutree Avatar(54 deaths) - Pretty cool fight. As I understand, opinions on the big tree are pretty varied, but I do quite like him; his combos are fun to deal with and he's not really a health sink despite having three phases. Also never understood the complaints over the nuke explosion. 7.5/10

Weapon used: Fire Pata

  • Metyr, Mother of Fingers(188 deaths) - Shit. next. 3/10

Weapon used: Cold Star Fists

  • Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame(67 deaths) - Very fun fight! But honestly, his moveset is a little too simple. He would've better with some more moves and maybe a little less hp. 7.8/10

Weapon used: Cold Star Fists

  • Romina, Saint of the Bud (128 deaths) - I guess bro. She exists, and I don't like some of her poleblade moves and the instant phase transition. Not a horribly offensive boss, though, so I can't penalize it too much. 6.5/10

Weapon used: Cold Star Fists

  • Bayle the Dread (195 deaths) - Second favorite fight in the dlc! He was my favorite going into this, but the fire jank when he breathes fire right as you step in is unfortunately going to cost him points in my ranking. He is "hype moments and aura" the boss but i love him for it, and im very happy they finally made a dragon fight with real combos. 9.1/10

Weapon used: Blood Pata

  • Promised Consort Radahn (389 deaths) - Honestly, one of my favorite in the entire run! Largest death count of my whole run (at least im pretty sure i killed malenia in less), but I feel like 98% most of the deaths were of my own fault and not some terrain jank or his AI fucking up in some manner. He really makes you learn spacing and you gotta hone that reaction time or you won't get him. Overhated in my personal experience. 9/10.

Weapon used: Blood Pata

If you made it this far, pata is a goated weapon spread the knowledge.

Discussion What are your favorite throwing knives? I think they deserve some glaze.

Kukri:
- Highest damage and high bleed build up. At +0, the damage is relatively decent with bleed in consideration.
- Longest range. There are a few situations where Kukris can reach a boss but Fan Daggers cannot, e.g. Placidusax's repositioning fire breath.
- Slowest by far. They're much less spammable than the next two, so it's difficult to use them to reliably maintain stance

I use these sometimes, mainly for aux fights and to punish moves like Noble's Roll or Scarlet Aeonia that are hard (or impossible in Aeonia's case) to get close to but have long openings. Great for Niall in particular.

Throwing Dagger:
- Low damage but you're using these to maintain stance damage anyway. That said, damage is usually higher than Fan Daggers (maybe always but I'm not sure).
- Quick animation so you usually don't need to worry about being punished.
- I find it misses a lot, even on slowly moving targets e.g. Mohg shuffling to the side. Best to aim at something walking toward you, not sideways.

I almost never use these because Fan Daggers do the stance thing better while Kukris do the damage thing better. That said, some great players use these over Fan Daggers.

Fan Daggers (GOATS):
- Usually very low damage. Does more if all hits connect on large targets but it's still around that of a single Throwing Dagger.
- Extremely quick animation making it quite spammable. Not completely safe though, I think Rellana can actually punish these for example.
- Due to the spread, you will basically only miss when something is too far away. This can happen with Putrescent Knight but it's uncommon overall.
- Great for punishing idling, as well as retreating or stalling moves, which you will see from basically every boss. Some examples are Maliketh's retreating blade beam, Hoarah Loux's earthquake, and Mohg's idling.
- You also get 40 of these per fight so you really don't need to conserve them.

Fan Daggers are the throwable GOATS imo. I don't leave home without them.

Others:
- Others exist like Poisonbone Darts but I don't know much about them. I have never seen anyone here use something that isn't one of these 3.
- Crystal Darts can be used to farm the golem fist and can troll like 4 specific enemies in the game.

Anyway, I'm surprised I don't see more people use these throwables, especially considering how easy they are to obtain. The damage is nothing to write home about even at +0 but all of them can maintain stance damage, bait out attacks, and punish idling or running away. If you don't use them (beyond a personal restriction like no consumables), I'd be interested in knowing why.

Advice/Help Traversing areas in dark souls 1

When you guys travel around the map in dark souls 1, do you usually be invisible and mute to just slowly bypass your enemies or do you guys just run for it? It is really headache to travel around duke's archive where arrows and magic missiles shower me.

Boss Kill Mohg, Lord of Blood (+0/No Aux/No Hit*/NG+2)

*Except nihil

Well, that's one I never thought I'd get. Not easy, but not as difficult as I expected.

I think the arena is too small with too many obstructions. Main issues were getting trapped by bloodflame near the edges while he does a melee combo and bloodflame interacting weirdly with tombstones. You can't exactly casually reposition against this guy since creating distance without an opportunity = death in a lot of situations. You can also more reasonably dodge the flying slash backwards with a bigger arena, which helps with much of the stalling since he immediately goes into a melee combo.

Double thrust is very rare (and likely a bug) but it was only a problem in phase 1 since I double roll the phase 2 version anyway. Not sure if he can even do it in phase 2 tbh. Seems triggered by Carian Retaliation or projectiles somehow. Carian Retaliation helps immensely with pacing, so I wouldn't drop it.

I do retract my previous criticism of his idling. I'm actually glad he idles a lot in phase 2, since if he constantly attacked then the bloodflame would get pretty ridiculous. If you notice him walking back, you can safely punish with fan daggers to keep up the stance damage anyway.

Overall a great boss with a very fun base moveset. I like the bloodflame mechanic as long as the arena doesn't get in the way.

Boss Kill Promised Consort Radahn SB0, Blood Pata, 389 deaths, hitless. My thoughts on him (and my now completed first ever rl1 run) below

He is one of my favorite fights. If I may be honest, the terrain thing causing the light pillar spawns to fuck up never really got me killed more than maybe 4-5 times, and all the deaths beside that were because I did not dodge correctly or failed to recognize an attack. He was a real struggle at first just cause I had to train myself to recognize when the cross slash was coming, and failing to react to it cause of poor positioning got me killed many a time, though by maybe death 150 i was easily able to see it and dodge. I will say as well that miquella's giant fuckin hair being in the way in phase 2 was a bit annoying, but it's not an issue if you remember that you ALWAYS should be in front of him and hugging his right leg.

I would like to also note that I loved dodging his gravity meteors, because after the clones ground explosion you can follow up with 2 charged heavies on the pata, essentially a free 60 poise buildup. I would also often count his stance buildup in my head, which is why sometimes I'd go for a second charged heavy knowing i'd get the stance break.

This is now the end of my first ever rl1 run on any of the fromsoft games. I did all remembrances in base game + dlc, choosing to stay at sb0 for the dlc. I'll probably make a follow-up post rating my experience with every remembrance boss.

Final total playtime on this run: 131 hours.

:)

is my run still legit

if i level up like five times and put points in endurance so i can wield my favorite weapon and still lightroll is it still considered legit? i mean i kinda gimp myself by using weight talismans as a trade off. so doesnt it get even harder than lvl 1? i mean using 2 less talismans for 5 endurance ? or is this strategy strictly forbidden in the onebros community?

Boss Kill Base game finished - RL1 hefty scimitar only all remembrances

If that one star didn't clip Torrent's ass I could add this one to my hitless kills shelf, but oh well :(

Overall - good weapon. It has some memes with sometimes looking like you should hit things, but then you kinda don't...especially on after-roll attacks. Worst bosses of course were NPCs, cause CGS are not really good at dealing with them and best ash they have for this is wild strikes which does work SOMETIMES, but without any help it also fails quite often. I kid you now, whole run is 33 hours and 6 of those are Fia's simps and another 4 are Gideon. So like, NPCs took THIRD of the time it took to kill all other bosses. Besides them the worst was probably Godfrey, but that's cause I hate this guy and never practice him. Everyone else was basically under 30 attempts, including the most sad unhitless Malenia ever. Compared to my recent Rl1+0 PvP character setup this was a breeze of a run.

Oh, and Rykard was killed with serpent hunter, I'm sorry but I had no interest in being staggered by his lava 90% of the time. I count it as a pass cause its a gimmick fight and you expected to use gimmick weapon.

Idk about DLC, but there's 3 bosses that really make me not want to do it - Metyr, Jori and DBDL. 2 DPS checks (best dodge of Metyr's laser is to never see it in the first place right) and one boss that I despise. I mean, I won't do another SB0, but still...stinky bosses. Oh, and Leda's gank exists in this world too (sad).

Advice/Help I Can't beat the Godskin duo RL1

I'm fighting the Godskin Duo on RL1 and I can't fucking deal with them, my strategy is just to parry the noble and let Bernahl deal with the apostle but my ripostes do nothing to him my weapon is already +18. I never liked the fight and I'd rather fight malenia with a toothpick also it seems like going to the consecrated snowfields isn't worth it because I read that the drop chance of Trina's Lillies is really low.

I started a DS1 SL1 run in 2018 and got to Gwyn but ended up getting side tracked and lost the file. Started over to get the asterisk taken care of. Did all bosses SL1 in Demon’s Souls and DS3. Might take a break and circle back to DS1 DLC. Time to play some Castlevania!

After Elden Ring and DS3 I took a shot at Bloodborne's BL4. I've been trying for God knows how long to get the Orphan kill but I can't for the life of me. My run has locked chalice dungeons, no BBP or papers, and for specifically Orphan I'm not using vials to try and only use viscerals for healing.

Boss Kill Starscourge Radahn (+0/No Aux/No Hit/NG+2)

I was going to have a win featuring stuff like close range Collapsing Stars strafe... until Torrent got clipped by his corkscrew attack when bro was 2 hits away. Idk if horse counts as a hit tho.

I suspect the bow skip was made more inconsistent in 1.17. I recommend walking until you are right in front of the debris pile in the video, dodging the first, waiting for him to nock an arrow, then deloading him. The process of figuring that out was quite frustrating. I also entered the portal and instantly fell through the arena 3 times, so the patch may have broken something.

The arrow phase is kind of bullshit imo. The main issue is arrow rain into arrow spray, it feels completely RNG on horse which you need to outrun arrow rain. If anyone has a fully consistent method for dealing with arrow phase that isn't deloading him let me know.

Anyway, Radahn is pretty difficult. Weird moves that require weird dodges, and weird delays like the slash he holds for several seconds. He stalls a lot, and is kind of easy to whiff against imo. Could be the weapon, I thought Alabaster's was way better than this axe despite the higher damage per hit.

Cool boss overall tho.

Discussion How many hours did you have in ER when you started ER?

Im just wanting to know, I started at around 200ish hours and just beat mohg, just curious!
