Discussion Patrick on the 2 seasons of LOS

• Upvotes

Ok Season 2 - I had Patrick as the birth child of Waz - Infectious negativity and toxicity

Jeff - Loud and obnoxious in your face

Dan - Brown nosing lil sneak

Season 3 - Patrick is now the birth child of Waz, Jeff, Dan after fermenting for a bit with those 3, now he's in Australia and added a couple more personalities 🤣 we now have a good dose of

Dani - trying to be cute entitled thief and

Suzanne - Nagging old lady that doesn't quit,

I feel like he takes the most annoying attributes of people that annoyed previous contestants and tries to use them to mentally exhaust his competition! I would really like to see him on normal NAA and XL, I'm still a newbie to the series

I recently watched this episode (S10E11) but today I noticed that this guy on the photo for the episode in the app...is not from this episode. Thought my memory was jacked for a sec...but nope this is definitely the wrong picture. I don't remember ever seeing this guy. Anybody know who this is and the episode?

Question What’s left to watch after N&A? I’ve gone through the entire N&A regular series, all XL’s, plus Castaways, Shipwrecked, Apocalypse, and Love. Tried Brazil but it gave me a migraine, and I couldn’t handle the voiceover for Foreign Exchange. Am I missing any episodes?

Edit: Forgot to add I’ve also seen Last One Standing, Global Showdown, and Frozen.

Discussion Does anyone else find Max’s behavior a little off?

I’m watching Naked and Afraid XL in order, and I’ve noticed a pattern with Max Djenohan that I don’t see discussed anywhere else. A lot of Redditors praise him for having “no ego” and “working well with others”, but I’m not entirely convinced.
I’ve seen him dismiss female contestants’ input and get into power struggles with other men. Even in Season 7 XL, he seemed to have a competitive dynamic with Gary and a disregard for his female contestant (Amber Hargrove) which she even pointed out herself. To me, Max appears more willing to challenge others when he thinks he can take the lead, but more agreeable when another strong personality is in charge like in season 7 when he him and Gary grouped up with EJ.
Sometimes, even his compliments and constructive feedback come across as rehearsed rather than natural and he has this sort of blank stare I noticed. Obviously, we only see an edited version of these people, so I could be reading him wrong, but I’m curious whether anyone else has noticed this pattern.

Rant Why so hard to watch in Australia?

Why is it so hard to watch the earlier seasons in Australia? I searched through all the subscription services and nothing. I tried to buy the DVDs and nothing 😭 Discovery+ isn't available here and can't access most VPNs without being blocked by the service provider. I really miss the good ol days of LimeWire and Pirate Bay. I have so much envy of the discussions around earlier episodes I can't watch.

Episode Discussion Super lame continuity error...

Look at the net that goes in the water. It's mesh. Net that comes out? 1-1.5" holes. So lame. Presumably they filmed the underwater later as an additive clip, which almost makes it worse. 😂

Question "The Garden: Commune or Cult?"

Has anyone watched this series from 2023? (I did search the group for previous threads already so my apologies if this has been posted.) Anyway. On the first episode, it felt like a combo of "Burning Man" and "Mother of God" and then it hit me that one of the main guys is Tyler Dean Milligan (Season 19 I think) and MANNN would I have felt differently about him being on that show if I had watched this first.

Also it's not a great series but there are definitely some "wait wtf" moments and my biggest gripe is how they're "living off the grid" but still using social media, electricity, cars and modern day luxuries.

Question Bug Prevention?

Hello everyone! So, I see many issues with bugs and I totally understand that after living in rural Arkansas and Florida for a time. My question is would it be a terrible idea to coat ones body with a mixture of mud and ash, or some other way to prevent bugs from being able to get to the skin? Would that cause worse issues like allergic reactions, etc? I am just curious as I think maybe one time I saw someone coat themselves in mud. Also, why not cover yourself with as much brush as possible before going to bed like a blanket to prevent some of the bugs, or do the bastids get in still? Thanks if you experts have any information to quell my noobie brain!!

XL Episode Discussion XL episode s7e4

I found myself sad for Suzanne after she left. Seemed she was suffering bc of lack of sleep due to keeping the fire. Then Sarah is named "fire master." Then they almost light their shelter on fire.

Then EJ says "it's sad she's gone but it's one less mouth... To feed."

Then with the other team whenever the alligator woman knows what she's talking about, the producers put tense music in the background to make it seem like the men are mad she's "bossy"

Maybe I'm looking too much into that last part but its interesting to watch the dynamics form. First time watching this show and started on this season.

XL Season 6 XL

Here’s a stream of thoughts as I’m watching the Legends 60 day challenge, and I’m only on the first episode.

  1. Why is the ever-loving-hell do they keep allowing Lacey to come back? She is a liability to anyone she is partnered with, simply because she has a mean-spirited personality and is incredibly stubborn. I understand these personalities make good TV with all the drama they cause (like Kate in everything she’s ever done) but I feel like it’s a major disservice to anyone they are partnered with and possibly throws off their challenge? 🤷🏻‍♀️

  2. Whoever the producers hire to insert animals into scenes where they are trying to create more drama needs fired. The part where Gary is swimming across with pond fronds; the “alligator” was in a different place in every shot, and when they tried to do the wide view with Gary, the gator is clearly CGI. They did this on an areal view in South China with a shark and several other instances. I wish they would pay for better CGI or quit inserting animals for drama. 😒

  3. Steven Lee Hall Jr’s hair is majestic, as are the curls upon Jeff’s head.

  4. I love Gary and his wacky ass with all my heart. If I ever were forced to do this show, (because I wouldn’t willingly - a single bug bites me on the downstairs and I’m out) I would be overjoyed to be partnered with Gary. 🤣

  5. I want to braid Ryan’s beard like a dwarf in a high fantasy.

This is all. 🤣☺️

Episode Discussion s18 ep4

Just started watching naked and afraid. (age 19) I watched it growing up with my mom but never really got into it recently. I just finished Episode 4 of season 18 and wow this whole season has been so boring.

-For starters the man (I think jarrell) is so damn annoying.
He starts off talking about his butt stitches and then proceeds to tell the woman (Ellie) he’s a grower not a show-er. Gross. Then says “I’m a man I can’t help it” referring to him peeping at her naked. Also Gross.
Human nature to look, but why make it about you being a man? Just off putting to me.
-Ellie is also annoying. She’s one of those “I’m gay and don’t need a man” (i’m a lesbian I can say that) Very dismissive and ungrateful. You can tell a part of her is ashamed that a man is doing this much for her to survive.

-Throughout the episode all they do is argue about stupid stuff when they both are incompetent and have no idea what they are doing. Just boring. Sat in their camp the whole time and complained.

-Both did not deserve a high PSR to begin with and DEFINITELY did not deserve a higher rating at the end. Bunch of cry babies who play in their backyard and convince themselves they can do anything.

In conclusion when I watch the show I remember I could and would never do this, so no matter what a win for them because there’s people like me who wouldn’t spend that much time trying to survive outside. especially naked. But a very boring episode.

For all the people who are long term fans please let me know if the show gets better or if there’s anything to look forward to because so far this season is just buns. Maybe they can stitch it up. LOL get it?

Episode Discussion S18 E1 - No Legs, No Problem

Just finished this episode with Mandy and Jonny and wow I was brought to tears. Jonny being a 100% gentleman offering support and protection whenever needed and Mandy killing it against all odds. She is the absolute definition of the indomitable human spirit. I think this is my favorite episode in Naked and Afraid history. It was just wonderful to watch them work so well together.

LOS LOS Season 1 Rapids Episode - So Disappointed

I couldn’t believe how rude and pissy Matt/Dan/Waz were to Jeff & Gary when the 4-person raft was barely better at accomplishing the given task. They couldn’t ride in it, their stuff got just as soaked as Jeff & Gary’s, and they had FOUR PEOPLE to work on it. And to be fair, Gary and Jeff DID make it down the river with all their stuff. They accomplished the task just the same.

It was CLEARLY explained that they all had to work as a group to get down the river. So if the Mean Boys were so frustrated with Jeff/Gary wasting time, why not but all the bags in their raft and use all 6 people to navigate? It was in their own interest to leave that death-trap raft behind, and it only hurt themselves to be sitting a on a rock not doing a damn thing but kicking Jeff/Gary when they’re already down. Plus they had plenty of trouble with their raft, another 2 people could’ve helped. To be THAT petty in such a dangerous situation where someone could have easily been killed/seriously hurt, is unforgivable in my opinion. Some of the grossest behavior I’ve seen on the show, probably the grossest.

I’m mostly excluding Stephen from this because of his later conversations with Jeff. Stephen’s apology was so raw and genuine. The hurt and inner conflict were just so apparent. I couldn’t imagine being that vulnerable on TV. I hope he knows what a good role model he is for expressing emotions/communicating. It was by far the best scene in the season.

That plus Gary in general were the only redeeming parts of the season. I also like to watch Jeff’s antics, you have to admit you’d rather watch a guy having the absolute time of his life than the miserable pack of Mean Boys who couldn’t talk about ANYTHING but Jeff. It was genuinely so weird how obsessed they were with him. It was 11 v 1 from the start and Jeff still ran circles around them and came in 3rd 😂. Honestly so embarrassing for that group of so-called legends.

Also can’t believe so many groups failed to properly preserve meat. Jeff had jerky still at the end that he gave to Stephen in exchange for a few leaves. I think he would’ve made similar trades had the other people given him a chance.

Rant Secure the damn catch !!

It bugs me like no other when one of these dumbos get a fish on their line, and instead of securing it, and making sure it can’t get away. They start jumping and screaming and flailing around. Then the fucking fish gets loose from the hook nd it’s gone!! I can completely understand the amount of excitement to finally getting dinner, and being inches from something that can make or break them. BUT! Holy hell mate! SECURE THE DAMN CATCH FIRST!!!
& then the dumb look on their face & the realization that they’re going hungry another day. 🤦‍♂️

It seems like the producers are trying to change the type of show that Naked and Afraid was. They are trying to make it like a reality show on Bravo now.

Episode Discussion Darrin shipwrecked

Post image
192 Upvotes

Bro is living my dream. He mentioned in the last 15 seconds of shipwrecked he was selling everything and living on the water. I'm so close to doing that. I'm so very sick of everyday life "civilization". Work for someone else to get rich, go home tired, and neglect loved ones. Sure you can have an excellent work life balance, but there's something more primal in me that just wants to explore. And here's a schweet Pic of Darrin at the end of the season! Smooth sailing sir!
