I'm a researcher working on a study about housing quality in the tri-county Miami metro area. Our research team is looking for people to participate in research interviews. So on 9/11 I had a SMALL fire in my apartment (my dog turned the stove one) and fire rescue came to put out the fire, but then came code compliance to cut off my power and tell me I had to get an electrician and engineer to do an evaluation. The fire damage report showed only 5% of damage and stated that no structural components were affected, however, they wanted to run an electrical assessment. Once both licensed professionals deemed that there were no repairs or damages identified, I sent the paperwork over to the county. I was hoping that they would finally restore my power and when they ran final inspection, the electrical supervisor never signed off on approving to restore my power. I had to revise the permit application and run it all over again online. It got disapproved again because they keep saying to provide drawings of the repairs when the assessment from the engineer and electrician clearly states there’s no repairs needed. I’ve had my property with no power for over a month. Over 5% of damage. Every single time I call the county permit and inspection center, I get no clear guidance, I get extra steps added into the process of getting my power back on. Why is the permitting and inspection process so difficult over 5% of damages? It’s drained me and my family emotionally and mentally like u have no idea. Can anybody please give me advice on what to do
I’m interested in hearing how people plan to vote when the polls open this November.
I work for a local news station in South Florida, and we’re looking to do an on-camera interview with a homeowner in Broward, Miami-Dade, or Boca Raton who plans to vote in favor of Amendment 3.
The amendment would increase the tax exemption on homestead properties. If you are a homestead property owner and are planning to vote 'YES' we are especially interested in speaking with you!
We are exploring different perspectives and would like to hear from someone who is negatively impacted by the current property taxes and would be relieved to see the exemption increased.
If you or someone you know may be interested, please DM me.
If you know a friend, family member, or neighbor looking for a trustworthy handyman, I'd truly appreciate you sharing this post. Supporting local businesses means a lot!
Thank you, and I look forward to helping with your next project! 🛠️🏡
hey y'all, I'm a recent college grad who started a marketing/ website business for local businesses here in Miami. I've been running it for about 1 year now, and I'm capable of building websites, doing SEO, running targeted ads on Facebook & Google, email marketing, custom software solutions and creating marketing content for Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok. I'm looking to partner with some local businesses that can't afford to hire a big company and are looking for an affordable option to handle everything online for them. If this is you or you know anybody who could benefit, i'd love to connect or get a referral.
Cost of living in Miami is out of control -- and even though every politician nowadays is running on "affordability," what made the Mamdani campaign special was that it was principled and people-powered. You cannot fake those things.
Miami is unaffordable because our politicians are bought by billionares and monopolies. From landlords and developers to insurance companies, it is the political power of private interests that need to be challenged. Inflation is this bad because our economy allows greedy corporations to offset their costs to consumers. Nowhere is this worst than Miami.
Oliver is running as a Democratic Socialist -- because that term can no longer be used as a boogeyman. It is synonymous with quality public services and anti-corruption measures that puts an end to corporate greed.
His opponent, Jared Moskowitz, is a war mongering sellout who voted for Trump's ICE bill and had made millions in stock trades while in office. Enough.
Miami needs a Mamdani. Getting Oliver Larkin elected is the first step in the right direction.
Hey Miami! I do handyman and custom build work around Miami-Dade and I’m looking to take on some new clients.
I’ve worked on some pretty unique projects. These include custom vanities, entertainment centers, display built-ins, wall panelling / chair rails, etc.
I’m honest, clearly communicate and don’t cut corners. Check out the photos and message me if you’re interested!
The Miami Beach motorcycle officers are targeting motorcycles - heavily. I was pulled over three times in the last three weeks, all on Alton, for ridiculous reasons:
Not using a turn signal to change lanes - no ticket
Not being able to see my license plate - turned out it was fine, no ticket
Not wearing eye protection because visor wa half up to get a breeze - no ticket.
The last one is interesting because a scooter went by with no eye protection, and the officer saw it and chose to ignore it. In fact, I have never been pulled over in my Liberty scooter. But it proves they are targeting bikes.
