Affordable office/smart casual clothing Amazon
Looking for recommendations for good men’s clothing brands on Amazon or other affordable places. Mainly tops that qualify as smart casual or office appropriate. Heard you can find great quality but not sure where to start.

Do you have recommendations for a replacement for thread.com that delivers to UK islands?
I used to love shopping online with thread.com, but stopped doing a lot of online shopping when I stepped down from full-time work to become a stay-at-home dad and my budget changed.
I liked the fact that you could put all your measurements in and it would only show you clothes that would fit you. You could search for a single item, or take inspiration from their looks and find items to recreate them that fit you.
They also delivered to UK islands which, as I live on the Isles of Scilly, was a pretty important factor.
My budget has increased, I’m looking to do some online clothes shopping, and sad to learn that thread.com closed down a few years ago.
I’ve looked at newer alternatives, Outfittery and Lookio, but neither deliver to UK islands.
(I’m so happy I spent ages filling out the Outfittery questionnaire only to find this out when I got to filling out delivery and payment details. 🙄)
I’ve spent the morning trying to find something suitable but they’re either too highly priced or don’t deliver here. And search engines are next to useless as the AI elements either return incorrect results in terms of shipping or sites that have closed down.
So, please, if anyone can recommend a site that provides that service and delivers to UK islands or uses Royal Mail as a delivery option I’d be glad to hear it.

Scientists once made people wear a lab coat and they got sharper. Here's what that means for your Monday shirt
When we talk about confidence and personality, we all know clothes play a big role. Turns out there's research on it.
In 2012, two psychologists (Adam and Galinsky) gave people a white coat. When told it was a doctor's coat, they made fewer mistakes on attention tests than people told it was a painter's coat. Same coat. Different story in their head. They called it "enclothed cognition". (Small study, and later attempts to repeat it were mixed, so treat it as a fun finding, not a law.)
I run a small menswear store in Bangalore, so here are my 5-second confidence checks anyone can do in a mirror:
- Shoulder seam sits where your shoulder ends. Lower, and the shirt looks borrowed.
- Collar stands up on its own. A curling collar makes any shirt look tired.
- Sleeves touch the base of your thumb. Rolled twice to just below the elbow? Instant upgrade.
- Jeans: two fingers in the waist, no belt needed to hold them up.
- Sit-down test: if it pulls or gapes when you sit, it will annoy you all day.
Disclosure: the store is Buttons Clothing in RR Nagar. Not selling here, just like this stuff.
What's the one piece of clothing that instantly makes you feel like the main character?

Curated a conference wardrobe entirely from online separates (Poster Defense, Banquet, & Closing Day). How did the combinations come together?
Had the chance to present my physics research at a national conference this week and wanted to lean into classic tailoring and smart-casual separates for the trip.
Everything in this rotation was bought piecemeal online, no pre-styled sets or in-store fittings. I already know a few pieces need minor alterations (most notably taking up the sleeves on the outerwear so they show the proper amount of shirt cuff).
Beyond the sleeve length, I’d really appreciate the sub's thoughts on how the individual pieces harmonize. I tried to get plenty of mileage out of the camel overcoat by anchoring it with darker charcoal trousers and a patterned tie for the research defense, then pivoting to an open collar and burgundy trousers for the final day. If you have any suggestions on dialing in the proportions or pairing these separates differently, let me know!

Thankful for the day.

Vintage Rodi Reversible Western Bomber — Don't See This Colorway Too Often!
Thought some of y’all might appreciate this one!
Vintage Rodi reversible western bomber in a killer turquoise and black colorway. The reverse has a bold Southwestern/Aztec print, and the fit on this thing is awesome.
I’ve handled quite a few vintage western jackets, and Rodi is definitely one of my favorites when it comes to quality. Much more substantial feel than some of the lighter western jackets from that era.
Don’t come across this particular colorway too often, especially in a Large and this condition.
Curious how many of y’all are into these older Rodi pieces compared to Wrangler and Western Frontier? 🤠
