‼️MAX PAYNE REMAKE FAQ
The below are being asked several times a week/month, so I compiled them in a little FAQ for quick information. I’ll do my best to keep it up to date with any new information that's being released.
You are ofc more than welcome to discuss all of the below on the board, but PLEASE USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION BEFORE POSTING.
Chances are your question has been asked (and potentially answered) before, as all of the below have been extensively discussed, so just hop on one of the existing threads and join in :) That way, members don't have to constantly repeat themselves, and you may find the answers and / or input you're looking for are already out there.
Who will be the new face? Nobody knows yet. No information has been released.
Who will be the new voice? Nobody knows yet. No information has been released.
Will they use AI to mimic James McCaffrey's voice? While there's nothing official on it, the answer is most likely a resounding NO. Remedy have a very firm anti-AI stance and while we don't know who will be voicing Max, it is fairly certain that it will not be done via use of AI.
Will they reuse James’ original voice lines? No information has been released, but it is highly unlikely as the remake includes a rewrite of the script from the original games.
When is it coming out? No release date has been announced. While Remedy are developing the remakes, any and all marketing is entirely with Rockstar as the publisher. Any information regarding a release date will be coming through Rockstar’s channels.
When are we getting a teaser / trailer? Nothing has been announced. Any announcements will be coming through Rockstar’s channels.

Finally getting through this awesome game and I've never seen bad guys get around a piano just for fun. It really has a lot of quirks about it. Even the bums help you out to kill bad guys.

I’ve been thinking about the ending of Max Payne 3, and I feel like it would have been way more emotional if Max actually died at the end.
Instead of him walking away on the beach, he should have passed away from his injuries or a final sacrifice. Then, the game could have transitioned into a dream/afterlife sequence—similar to how the first game starts with his house, but this time, it's peaceful. He walks inside, drops his gun, and finally reunites with Michelle and his baby in heaven. After all the trauma he went through, this would have been the ultimate bittersweet redemption.
What I love about this idea is how it brings the trilogy full circle. Max's entire tragedy and living nightmare started inside that specific house in the very first game. Ending his story by having him return there—but in a peaceful, heavenly version—creates a perfect narrative loop. It brings ultimate closure to his character arc

Anyone try to lure enemies to run through a doorway then you stand just beside swinging the bat , hoping the enemy gets hit via clipping. First time I tried was at the Frankie the bat nigara stage

Was binge watching clips and analysis of Eye Wide Shut and it seemed to me that it is very similar to Max Payne: set in New York, mostly at night, elite conspiracies and the general eerie yet cozy vibe to it.
What do you guys think?

Using them against killer suits with colt commando, jack hammer is , in my opinion ,suicidal. Nothing to do with skills. Any opinion?

That I feel is pretty much everything? If anyone has answers to a question not on here but could help solve 3's plot a bit more it could help

First of all i have a very low end device and no way to work around that so of course im not asking for miracles. I have always played a bunch of games on it if possible and just got into the gta series, i was surprised about how badly optimized GTA4 was, and equally surprised by how effective the fusion fix mod is at fixing it (i have no graphics card) i esentially just use a monitor.
Tried to get max payne 3 and it seems pretty fun but is super laggy, whenever i look at the floor or it is closed doors it runs very well, otherwise it stutters like crazy. I tried to find the same MP3 fusion fix mod but it didnt work for this game and i dont know if i am doing anyhing wrong so i would like some imput on that. Tried to do the same with dxvk, doesnt work either.
if you have any alternatives pls let me know

I'm playing the game with the fixes that PCgamingWikia recommends. Is there anything else I can do to remedy this issue?

Max payne 2 is pretty light imagine with a source port someone could port it to a meta quest 3 combined with the evil sheep vr mod eliminating any need to hook up to a pc to play because that link cable is overpriced and not everyone has 5Ghz bandwith internet.

Idk if I’m exaggerating but Alan Wake 2 alone costed 70 million and Max Payne 3 (which is old asf) costed 105 million. Rockstar is being greedy idc, especially after dumping 2 billion on gta 6.

Just wondering if anyone else has thought this. In Mac Payne 1 it sometimes feels like James McCaffrey is speeding through the dialogue. Max Payne 2 feels like the appropriate pace but I always wondered if his slower delivery had been sped up in fear thst cutscenes would be too long. Or something to do with Hz rates between Europe & US - PAL & NTSC gaming etc that crested this effect. Or he just spoke faster in the first game. Anyone else noticed this?

Hey everyone!
I've been wanting to play Max Payne 3, but unfortunately, it's not available for purchase on Steam in my region.
Does anyone know a legitimate way to buy it despite the regional restriction? other than steam keys cuz they're super expensive for some reason.
Alternatively, if someone who has the game available in their region is willing to gift it to me, I'd be happy to pay them back. We can figure out a safe and convenient payment method that works for both of us.
I'd really appreciate any advice or help from the community.
Thanks in advance, everyone!

Hey there! Last Time I made a post about how to give Max unlimited Bullet-Time and make him move incredibly fast while the environment and world around him moves in ultra-slow motion. Today I posted the official Hyper Bullet Time mod for the game. The link to this mod is: https://www.nexusmods.com/maxpayne2thefallofmaxpayne/mods/46 By the way it's my first time ever posting a mod to the public so please go easy on me. I'll try to make presets for it that allow Max to move faster or make the world move slower but for now there's only v1.0 of the mod. I hope you'll enjoy it if you're interested enough to download it but other than that have fun with the mod! Here are some screenshots of gameplay with the mod:

Once again, hope you enjoy the mod and have a wonderfully maximum day!

I first played MP2 when I was a kid back in 2005, and even though it's by far my favourite in the franchise, and I beat it multiple times, most of the plot and themes went over my head. However, I just finished my first playthrough as an adult, and I realized the symbolism behind the various TV shows and how important it is to the story:
- Dick Justice: This one is obvious - it's a parody of Max Payne 1. It's not all that important to the story, which is why we only ever get 2 or 3 episodes of it. Still, it's a nice reminder of how Max's dead family keeps chasing him
- Address Unknown and Lords and Ladies: these are the most important ones. On the surface, they're also a reflection of Max's struggles - just like DIck Justice is.
- The protagonist of Address Unknown spends the entire runtime of the show chasing John Mirra - the evil double who killed his girlfriend and who is ruining his life. But at the end, he realizes that he is John Mirra - it's his fault that his girlfriend's dead, and the only reason he's so miserable is because of his own actions. No matter how much he runs, he can never escape the consequences of what he's done.
- Lords and Ladies clearly mirrors Max and Mona's love - the lady in the show is a pirate, and she's in love with Lord Valentine, who is - in turn - in love with her. In the end, he sacrifices himself for her. It's kind of funny how the evil mother even looks like a cop :D
But I think the symbolism goes even deeper than that. Because Address Unknown and Lords and Ladies also tell us a lot about why Mona is in love with Max.
See, as much as MP2 is about their relationship, we only ever get to see Max's side - why he's so obsessed with Mona, why he can't stop thinking about her... But we never get to hear her side. Why does she like him so much that she's willing to drop everything and risk her life for him on multiple occasions?
Well, if you watch enough TV, you don't need to hear her side! You just need to know that Mona is a fan of the two shows :D
After all, she lives in a funhouse dedicated to Address Unknown, and she has a poster of Lords and Ladies in her bedroom. We even have an episode of the show playing when we first enter her apartment!
My theory is that she likes Max because:
- Captain Baseball Bat Boy: This one is purely for the sake of Vinnie, so much so that in the end Vinnie's even forced to dress as the main character. I think the main idea here is that the show is deliberately juvenile, the idea being to show just how immature Vinnie is, just how in over his head he's gotten, and just how out of place he is in the criminal underworld.
Even as a kid, I remember finding him funny at first, and then feeling very sad and sorry for him. Especially after Vlad kills him.
The way he dies is actually quite a clever Easter egg, because the question Vinnie got wrong was about the show's villain - Maxwell's Demon. Vinnie correctly answers who created Maxwell's Demon, but Vlad is a dick, and it turns out that the question was actually about the real-life Maxwell's Demon, which is a thought experiment by physicist James Maxwell.
The idea is that you have a gas and a box split into two chambers. At the gate of the two chambers, you have an intelligent gatekeeper (a "demon") who makes it so one chamber only has fast-moving molecules, while the other only has slow-moving ones.
It was created to argue something about entropy, which I'm too stupid to relate here :D
However, in the show, Maxwell's Demon was created by Doctor Entropy. And in the episode that plays in Vinnie's apartment, Maxwell's Demon attacks Captain Baseball Bat Boy with fast lasers and slow missles! So, in a sense, the answer to Vlad's question was in the episode Vinnie just watched!
Playing the game now, I wondered why a super fan like Vinnie wouldn't know that his favourite show's villain is based on a famous physics problem. But then again, information like that wouldn't have been so easy to find back in 2003 (Google wasn't nearly as useful back then).
But then again, if you're a kid, you don't necessarily think about these things that deeply. So, maybe it just reinforces how Vinnie is like a kid, and he's in way over his head.
In either case, I think it works really well to paint Vinnie as a tragic figure. Which is something he has in common with all the characters in this game.
